There have been rumours about a 30th anniversary documentary for some time but it is now looking more likely according to this report.
Seriously , what else is there to say about the woman ?
It seems so distasteful that H is - again- using his late mother to make money .
Any reconciliation with the RF will be stopped in its tracks if this goes ahead .

Harry and Meghan 'line up Princess Diana doc' in new Netflix deal

The streaming giant is understood to be in discussions with the couple about the programme which would mark 30 years since Diana's death in a car crash in 1997.

Diana did some good work but don’t we all know about it ?
I just can’t imagine what else there is to say .

There doesn’t need to be - people will cheerily watch H and M bopping along in her footsteps, get a bit of behind the scenes with them, and a few charities will get a bit of publicity which is something.

Netflix just need to bring people to their platform to justify what they paid them

Maybe Harry doesn't realise that it won't just be a documentary. It will be articles, reviews, think pieces, every single person who passed Diana in the street weighing in with their opinion. It gives permission for a whole new cycle of comment and counter comment, and for what? Money? Finally proving he is the best son?

There will be all this anyway though, and it will all drive traffic to the Netfix doc. So it works for him.

It will work for him financially but I can't think of any other upside for him.

CoffeeCantata · 24/08/2025 13:45

It really is like digging up her corpse, as a pp said, and exhibiting it for public sensation. Diana’s tragic end was actually rather cheap and sordid, especially now all the Mohammed Fayed sex-pest stuff is out in th3 open. That’s not just hindsight- I remember think’What IS she playing at with that sleazy man?’ At the time, and I wasn’t alone.

Does H really want all this dragged up again- if not by him, the rest of the media might well bring it up.

Ohpleeeease · 24/08/2025 13:45

I got married in the same year as Diana, was a similar age, had children in the same years, followed her story with interest at the time and was genuinely upset by her death. If someone like me has no interest in this documentary I’m struggling to think who would.

TheAutumnCrow · 24/08/2025 14:01

I’m not sure Harry realises that Diana was far from universally well-regarded at the time of her death.

He may be in for a shock if he goes digging.

chunkybear · 24/08/2025 14:47

Bloody hell talk about dining out forever off the back of mummy, he’s a fucking twat! I can imagine already how much Megain will make sure that she’s branded as the new Diana at every opportunity, it won’t be an ‘unbiased’ story either - ug - saying that though they’ve got sod all else so I guess they’ll need to start selling people around them, so I guess the USA’s first real princess and prince story will be making it’s way to our Netflix subscription fees anytime soon too … I’m sorely tempted to delete Netflix if they continue with this wank crap TV they spend a fortune on, and no new good films or series to speak of

I totally agree. I also think there’s not much more to be said. She’s been the subject columns, books, articles, and documentaries. What more is there to be said? Her memory should be allowed to rest in peace.

I'm seeing there is chit chat gossip about Diana and Epstein emanating from Ghislaine Maxwell now. 🙄 I'm thinking that woman will say anything to get herself a deal ( or not say as the case may be).

Mylovelygreendress · 24/08/2025 15:34

I wonder if Harry will be able to persuade anyone to appear and talk about Diana . I can’t see her close friends and family getting involved .
Interesting that no denial has been even issued .

I was wondering this will the Spencer side of the family be happy to talk and will there be footage from her graveside and memorial?

Absentmindedsmile · 24/08/2025 15:57

He is using his mum for cash and significance, just like the gutter press did back in the day. The peoples he’s complained about over and over again. And now he’s doing the same thing. Beggars belief.

Yes, you're right, it's on Day 1 of the transcripts.

MAXWELL: And he [Epstein]
11 went to a big event in, I think it was in the --
12 anyway, it was a big event. It's on it's on
13 it's on it's on the news. It's like a there's
14 photographs of it. And he, I don't know if he sat
15 with Diana or he met Diana and he'd already met her.
16 I don't know, but this, I believe was organized by
17 Rosa [Monckton].
18 And so there's -- I don't know if she was
19 being set up as a date for him, maybe because she --
20 I don't want to speak bad of Diana, but -- I'm not
21 going to do that.

Ohpleeeease · 24/08/2025 16:09

I would actually like to see a decent documentary on the Masaka kids having discovered them myself on YouTube. I hope he focuses his energies on that.

Anything about Diana would have me reaching for the remote.

The usual hypocrisy.

IdaGlossop · 24/08/2025 16:18

How wise would it be of Netflix to allow a documentary on Diana to go ahead without the approval of William (which he would never give)? Would an injunction be possible, on the grounds of another documentary not being in the public interest? It seems to me there are lots of obstacles - no new material, ownership of existing material, credibility of any current sources who would be prepared to talk on camera just to help H cash in on his dead mother.

Ladedahlia · 24/08/2025 16:24

The RF didn’t approve of the Crown but they didn’t challenge it. I shouldn’t imagine William would sully his hands . It’ll hurt be ignored as more of the same from Harry.

MinnieCauldwell · 24/08/2025 16:44

I wonder if it will cover her dalliances with married men, I am thinking not. I liked her but she was flawed.

Imagine her posting on mumsnet, AIBU to introduce my 2 DC to a man I have just met. Can i leave the DC in the UK while I holiday abroad with my new man, who also has a fiance in the USA.

Ohpleeeease · 24/08/2025 17:15

Well, quite, Minnie.

And even if those things are covered, she was very young, and she has no right of reply, so she will be judged on something she might herself later have regretted.

My feeling is that it will focus on her charity work and interviews with people who she secretly met and kept in touch with and how lovely they found her, and it will be terribly dull.

elessar · 24/08/2025 18:17

If Harry / Archewell are producing it, there’s no chance there will be any scrutiny of Diana’s behaviour or any portrayal which shows her as anything less than a saint.

if he’s contributing to a documentary that Netflix are producing then there’s a chance it will be more balanced, but I’d be surprised if he was happy to put his name to something he didn’t have full editorial control over.

and no @PuzzledandpissedoffI don’t think he’s learned anything in the last 5 years! He is a bear or very little brain without the capacity to understand that his actions have consequences. But I do think it’s interesting in light of all the noise about reconciliation we’ve been hearing recently. This would be a sure fire way of killing that stone dead I would think.

I very much doubt it. Not only because it will be upsetting for them, but Earl Spencer is very much aware that he's the uncle of the next king, and knows which side his bread is buttered!

Yes - his beef with KC might be permanent but I hope his relationship with William is good.

I have never been convinced by the reconciliation rumours . I know there was a poster ( can’t remember name) who insisted that everything would be hunky dory by the time Invictus 2027 comes around but I simply can’t see it .
