I think I see your point here and I sympathise with it. But another view is that the Monarch being titular head of the armed forces there may be a way that eg A & H were sent to be front line soldiers , because others were being asked or did do this. Were they the best qualified ? I suspect not . But it's sort of a way of saying in a public way I wouldn't ask anyone else to do which I would not. I don't think this is what a previous poster meant. & btw I do agree with @Serenster , especially back in the day , business was conducted in different cultures in different ways.
