Are you saying that Andrew didn't have sex with 40, or indeed, ANY women whilst in Thailand?
Saying 'things are not always what they seem' does seem to suggest that.

No, of course I’m not saying that - I wasn’t there and don’t know Andrew. Butthat applies to all of us - none of us know what happened, do we? It’s just a general caution that judging without all the facts isn’t generally wise.

He can sue for libel if he feels he's been misrepresented. I doubt the author or publisher would commit assertions to paper if they couldn't produce evidence to back them up should the need arise.

Yes don't most of them have to leave the army because they are too dim to pass the higher level exams? The thing is most people are 'average' and have to work hard to get qualifications/achievements so its more about working hard and practice but they don't need to because there is little to no consequence for their lack of aptitude or effort. Especially if they are just handed Admiralty's as a birthday present!

When Charles was prince of Wales he got into Cambridge with only two A levels, a grade B and a C. It was unheard of even at the time.
He got a 2.2 in history.
Nice story -- apparently his close protection officer attended all the same lectures as him and also sat the final exams. He got a First.

Fairtheewellmyhearties · 24/08/2025 06:49

Oh my goodness about Charles’s close protection office; what a fabulous story!

I just don’t understand the Royals having access to these top class educational institutions and not making the most of it! To my mind there’s absolutely no point in being rich if you are not really well educated too.

It also makes me quite angry. The daughter of a family friend recently turned down a
good offer from UCL because she can’t afford the living costs in London.

There's no jeopardy- no ' try your hardest or you won't get a good job'.
I do think Charles may not be academic but he does like learning and understanding. I think in general he and his late father are outliers in that. The rest of them are dim and incurious. They don't have to learn anything and they don't have to try. All they have to lose is a bit of pride and they can get someone else to do their exams/ coursework/pull strings for them to save themselves from that.

CathyorClaire · 24/08/2025 12:02

They don't have to learn anything and they don't have to try.

Lazy W couldn't even be arsed to pick up a few basic Welsh phrases unlike C who apparently became quite fluent.

I agree with this. None of them are in the slightest academic or stuffed with brains, but I think Charles has an enquiring mind in all sorts of ways.
I don't see that in William.

You need to consider the possibility that even with all the assistance he'd have available, a 2:2 is all he was capable of. He's really not a clever man.

IF Prince Andrew met 40 escorts in Thailand, do you think they were all female? Do you know or is it 'alleged'? Did he have sexual intercourse with every one of them three times a day or did he just give them a bit of a look-over?

Should we be told?

Should he be questioned about it by the FBI or Rachel Reeves?

When John Major was having it off with the egg lady MP was that all on my tax-payer's money?

When the Covid health minister was snogging his friend in a cupboard at Westminster was he doing that on my taxpayer's money?

When John Prescott was having it off with another woman at the House of Commons was that all on my taxpayer's money?

I'll try and find time today to write a letter to HMRC about quite something of a rebate.

Yes, Lownie in one of Andrew Gold's Heretics interviews (need to check which one) said Andrew also asked for young men. Poor men!

I don't understand how the monarchy still exists, or if it does, how this particular family have remained top dogs.
There used to be warrior kings up to and including Henry VIII, they were hardened fighters and strategists, protecting their domains and position. Violent thugs, a lot of them, but you could see why they were king, they were the strongest ones around. They fought constantly to maintain their authority and and possessions, they were the typical dominant alpha male. The crown wasn't automatically inherited by the eldest son, there was a witan to choose a king from a pool of eligibles, if it wasn't grabbed by a self-selected earl. It may have been unfair, there are hosts of reasons why that system is no more, but you could see how the rulers obtained and held on to their position, by their own personal efforts.
Compare that with the current bunch of entitled wasters - who is keeping them on the throne? They certainly don't have enough get up and go to fight to keep their position. If people really want a monarchy, why hasn't someone more suitable been put in place, or muscled their way in? Do any of us think that the king has done anything to deserve his position? If we want someone from that family, surely Anne is by far the better choice?
It is in someone's interests to be keeping Charles on the throne, to be protecting his lowlife brother, I just can't work out who or why! Why are there no challengers?

Edited

The monarchy was hereditary for a long period before Henry VIII. Yes, fights would break out, but back in Norman days, and from then on, eldest son was the rule.

I'm part Polish, & up until our disastrous last king Stanislaw Poniatowski in the 18th century, we had a system where the king was chosen from the nobles each time. The issue was this was vulnerable to outside pressure. Eventually Catherine the Great removed her ex-boyfriend's throne & helped partition Poland in the 1790s.

So the hereditary system is grim now, but it did have some benefits in the past as well as drawbacks

Friendlygingercat · 24/08/2025 19:58

I would like to see the royals cut down to a Scandi type monarchy if we are going to keep them. No expensive coronations, just a simple accession ceremony before parliament. How many castles and palaces do they need to live in? Most of them could be sold off or converted to house homeless people or those who cant get on the property ladder. That would help to fill up Rachel's Black Hole. The so called sovereign grant should be restricted only to the head of state and their direct heirs. The rest can get themsleves down to the job center

jumpingthehighjump · 24/08/2025 20:31

This is worth reading.... the most gobsmacking castles, palaces, royal estates

(Yes I know some of them are privately owned by the Royals)
It's just interesting to see such beautiful properties and so many of them!

He had to take a term out to go to Wales. That can make a big dent in your ability to keep up with Cambridge coursework.

BTW W lived and worked in a Welsh- speaking part of Wales. He may not be fluent, but I bet he speaks better Welsh than his 3-months-in- Aberystwyth Dad.

jumpingthehighjump · 24/08/2025 23:18

Doubtful. William himself has said he only knows a couple of phrases but can ask for a cup of tea in Welsh.

Charles gave a speech in the Senedd in Welsh, slowly admittedly but he tried hard

I’m assuming you know we would have to pay MORE tax if we didn’t have a royal family? They bring much more money into the country than they are given - they are actually very good value. Plus they do a lot for charity.

So they tell us…

BemusedAmerican · 25/08/2025 13:35

Only 18 percent of the Welsh population speaks Welsh.

Only one person is Prince of Wales, knew he was likely to be Prince of Wales since birth and lived in a Welsh speaking part of Wales for a couple of years!

FluentOP · 29/09/2025 22:06

Yes, monarchy is a very weird concept. It should be consigned to history books and fairy tales. If a brain surgeon died would his son inherit his job ? I find it strange that people act like sycophants in their company and laugh at their stupid jokes. Prince George can’t choose what future career he might like to do, which seems very cruel and controlling. People should be elected to be in positions of power not just given a leadership role because of their birth. That twat, Andrew actually thinks that he is better than everyone else just because of his birth. His mother was an enabler too.

I’m halfway through and it’s so utterly depressing I am not sure I can finish it. It’s like examining the contents of a sewer in minute detail. Just how did this dreadful venal self serving pair get away with it? It beggars belief. SF actually comes across as much worse than Andrew. She actually seems to be completely mad and out of control. He is without any redeeming features whatsoever. On a par with a giant slug. Even some slugs must serve some sort of purpose. Andrew on the other hand hand seems not to have any purpose whatsoever. Stupid, ignorant, entitled and arrogant .
