When Charles was prince of Wales he got into Cambridge with only two A levels, a grade B and a C. It was unheard of even at the time.
He got a 2.2 in history.
Nice story -- apparently his close protection officer attended all the same lectures as him and also sat the final exams. He got a First.

There was a movie made based on this situation starring Robson Green as the security officer.

That’s fascinating. I didn’t know that. In the Andrew book, someone else sits his exams for him in the Navy because he hadn’t done the work. It’s just unbelievable that this sort of thing is allowed.

I’m halfway through and it’s so utterly depressing I am not sure I can finish it. It’s like examining the contents of a sewer in minute detail. Just how did this dreadful venal self serving pair get away with it? It beggars belief. SF actually comes across as much worse than Andrew. She actually seems to be completely mad and out of control. He is without any redeeming features whatsoever. On a par with a giant slug. Even some slugs must serve some sort of purpose. Andrew on the other hand hand seems not to have any purpose whatsoever. Stupid, ignorant, entitled and arrogant .

Edited

I agree. I always knew it was bad. But not this bad.

I have said for a long time I have no idea why Sarah has been tolerated by the royal fanily for near 30 years. She is the ex-wife of Andrew, why has she been so indulged? Apparently her divorce pay off was not meagre as she likes to portray. Why didn't she just eff off, build a new life for herself, and now she has got GC, 4 I believe, she could have been seen with the daughters as a discreet nice woman and grandmother. .

But no. She has spent her life filching money off of anyone she can lure in using her royal ties. She has used Royal Estates to film footage of herself in royal costume from past days for her Mills & Boon books. Why didn't Charles go apeshit at that?? She has dumped the small people by not paying bills, she has cosied up to a sex trafficker, taken £2M from him to keep her from repeated bankruptcies. And she has bleated on about Andrew being the most honourable principled man she has ever met, all whilst he was taking ££££ from a Libyan gun runner and other very dodgy ME people. . They are both really quite disgusting. And now the daughters are carrying on the ME connections.
And the punishment? Still go to church or family dos but can you use the back door please.

I hope this is the end of the House of York. I wonder if the titles Duke & Duchess of York will be retired in the future like Duke & Duchess of Windsor was (Wallis Simpson and Edward). I imagine so
If the RF carry on like this, they'll be running out of titles soon 🤣

CathyorClaire · 30/09/2025 10:13

They can always make them up (Wessex) 😁

I imagine 'York' will be retired for a very long time once A is either divested of it or keels.

God that Entitled book is eye opening. Learning that William describes Andrew as a “tosser” and Harry has quite literally punched him the face made me warm to them slightly more. The sainted Queen created a monster there.

I've just finished it. It is truly shocking, the worst revelation is that Epstein provided compromat on Andrew to Mossad among others.

I was also shocked that a percentage of profits from the first three years of any business successful at pitch in the palace went to Andrews private company. And that there was a Chinese spy at the centre of that whole enterprise.

Eugenie and Beatrice up to their necks in dodgy middle eastern deals too.

I'm amazed it hasn't caused more of a stir.

Anyway, as pps have said, apparently William loathes both Andrew and Sarah, don't know what he thinks of his cousins, but I think the hay making days are coming to an end

JackandSallySkellington · 19/10/2025 19:48

I used to be a hardcore republican but Brexit among other things has made me lose any appetite for major constitutional reform and I have seen a few more of their diplomatic benefits recently. I also think the UK needs something to provide continuity and tradition (I know many disagree) as the world is changing rapidly at the moment.

But I feel like William is their last hope. He seems fairly decent and he’s had an appalling list of personal tragedies - mum dying so publicly and young after a long MH battle, rumours around his dad and the paternity of Harry, his wife having cancer. I would like to see him as King and think the Monarchy is one of those things where we don’t know what we’ve got til it’s gone. It does need to be slimmed down and cost efficient though.

He needs to make drastic changes if hes going to pull the whole thing round. Get rid of titles for non working family members , be seen out and about a lot more himself doing serious things. Be more transparent about finances, a whole load of stuff. Banishing Andrew and his ghastly Cling On is just the start. If he does.

AlternativeView · 19/10/2025 22:20

It's a shame Emily didn't ask Andrew, are you in hock to Epstein because of Sarah.
I guess we didn't understand then how much he was bankrolling Sarah.

Do we know what legacy queen mum/queen and duke left Andrew

Jcherry · 26/12/2025 20:41

The Grand old duke of York, they said he didn't sweat, so why did he pay £12 million quid to a girl he never met...

A lot of men go to Thailand because it's easy and cheap to pick up girls and boys. Difficult to prove that any offence was committed under Thai or UK law.

When was this meant to have happened (Is there any proof that it did?) was Andrew on the civil list at the time?

Andrew always seemed to me like a big baby with an inflated opinion about himself. He did redeem himself a bit for me in the Falklands war, a pity he didn't carry on in that sort of roll, it gave him a purpose and real ordinary friends.

If there was any doubt about the veracity of these claims then don't you think the RF lawyers would've come down like a ton of bricks on the publishers of Entitled? There are many jaw dropping claims in this book and here we are - it's now all in the public domain and there has been no rebuttals or denials. In fact there was a sense of momentum after publication regarding criticism and awkward questions being asked. Next thing, he's stripped of his titles and chucked out of his house. Coincidence? I think not.

My question is why politicians and civil servants allowed Andrew to behave the way he did whilst acting as a representative of the government as trade envoy. We are supposed to be a constitutional monarchy, why didn't they stop the grift earlier? I simply don't believe it was purely because they didn't want to upset his mum. It seems far nowt likely to me that Andrew is simply the Royal tip of a very nasty pyramid of powerful people exploiting others. They didn't go after him because they would be exposing themselves.

Which doesn't mean I don't think there needs to be far more clarity about royal finances, there clearly does. We also need to address the 1950s deference which seems to prevent politicians from actually questions about the monarchy, or maybe again they are too worried about what would happen if the monarchy reformed but Westminster didn't.

This isn't really new information about Andrew but maybe, just maybe, the fact that it won't go away will mean that eventually real questions will be asked and answered about the way the very wealthy and powerful are not called to account, royal or not.

I think that is a great question.

The only thing I have read which at all explains this is that because Andrew fell between two stools ( ie WRF and Trade Envoy ) the line of command / responsibility (I'm not sure I'm explaining that well ) became fuzzy. Apparently Charles at the time thought AMW was unsuited to be a trade envoy , but HLMTQ thought he could make a go of it. I do think the lines were blurred with A and there wasn't a clear line to - well - pretty much get him sacked ( my words) I think this is in Lownie's book , but don't hold me to that reference - it may have been somewhere else. He was certainly criticised roundly during his tenure by govt officials.

I do think there should be an investigation ( put the sex scandals to one side for a moment ) into his using that position for personal gain. I think it really should happen. If not too an unpleasant metaphor 😊- I think A's boil should be lanced quickly & comprehensively.

That's an interesting explanation. Let's hope that all involved have learnt from what happened and will put measures in place to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Doing business in Thailand can be … challenging. Not just Thailand, other countries too, but this personal story comes from when I accompanied some very senior men to Thailand and Malaysia on a work trip.

There was a reception planned, which I attended with them, but my bosses where then whisked away later in the evening. I heard the story from them over breakfast the next day. Their local hosts had taken them to a very high class establishment where sex workers were essentially laid on for them, and they were expected to partake in what was on offer. Both declined, to the utter bemusement of their hosts, ordered a taxi together and ran back to the safety of our hotel. They said it was the most awkward experience of their professional lives!

I’ve also had male colleagues driven off to strip clubs in other countries that they were expected to enjoy as well. I have no idea what happened at Andrew’s party, obviously, but know from experience that things not always what they seem.

Awww poor men and poor Andrew. Awful what goes on in those forrin parts <sarcasm>
