Since there is a flurry of discussion on another thread its probably best to create a thread for it to take place here and not derail another one.

So William is not attending a number of important events the recent one being the VJ day..lots of you think he should have after all he is the future King and if he can't make time for these things then it begs the question what is the point of them?

So discuss away...what should he turning up to, what is his actual role if he starts to not do these types of things...

And let's face it, he's putting his young family first and who wouldn't?

How many people with bills to pay and a mortgage can " put their young family first"

But they would if they could.

hangerup · 20/08/2025 15:59

@Tutorpuzzle Yes, as I said upthread the Queen earned my respect because even though I didn't care about her duty she did & she worked until her death.

I find it so odd that posters like @jeffgoldblum have jumped on me, there must be an agenda, etc...

Maybe it's good C doesn't do much? Less hundreds of thousands of pounds going on coat dresses.

Hundreds of thousands on identical coat dresses.

Remember when the press were fawning over her for being low key with her headpiece for the coronation? It’s been estimated to have cost over 30 grand. How anybody can defend that when the royal family has access to literally tens of tiaras just sat in a vault is beyond me. Let alone see it as praiseworthy.

hangerup · 20/08/2025 15:52

@jeffgoldblum why can't people criticise W&K without be accused of being Harry lovers or whatever?

You would have to ask posters who have done so ! 🤷‍♀️

But they would if they could.

But William has responsibilities.

He can step down and retain his private wealth if he prefers not to deal with them

Did Charles go to everything with the queen? No. But somehow William has to go to everything with Charles.

I agree. There will be royal protocols about who is expected to attend what.

BusWankers · 20/08/2025 16:01

Isn't this kind of thing exactly what Harry wanted..half in, half out...? Picking and choosing what events etc...

I personally think something bizarre in going on behind the scenes - I wouldn't be surprised if they get divorced.

You really shouldn’t be reading that hate site full of conspiracy theories. Couples planning a divorce don’t behave the way William and Catherine do. On one hand, you complain they take too many vacations or move to a new house together, and now you’re saying you wouldn’t be surprised if they get divorced—makes no sense.

As you clearly don’t know the history behind the only comment I ever make , then you have no idea what rude looks like .

Why keep saying it? I have seen you do it on other threads. It is easy to scroll on, you know.

It's rude and shows you up.

NDerbys32 · 20/08/2025 16:04

His wife has/ had cancer
His Dad has cancer
Lord knows what else he's managing, or not

Best not to judge anyone without knowing the full story. He's entitled to a private life.

No the half in half out referred to being able to engage in commercial activities on the half out bit. Which seems to always lead to shady deals like Andrew’s awful behaviour and Sophie’s sheik scandal.

Or join the hundreds of pages of threads about Harry and Meghan clogging up the RF board, covering every tiny thing they do! They are irrelevant. They will hhave no role in the Monarchy or the country in the future. They are made relevant by people who are obsessed with them, pore over every detail of every little thing they do and go on and on about them endlessly, creating the publicity they say Harry and Meghan ( particularly Meghan) craves.

Don’t let H and M hear you say they are irrelevant!! In many ways they act more royal than many senior Royals . Titles for their children . Call me ma’am .
They certainly don’t want to be considered irrelevant.

hangerup · 20/08/2025 16:06

I’m not upset! 🤣 I’m so laid back on here I’m practically horizontal! and in the many , many years I’ve posted this thread is the first time I’ve been told to calm down and that I’m irrational! 🤣

I haven't called you irrational or told you to calm down but you aren't coming across as laid back 😆😆

I didn’t accuse you of insulting the royal family, I simply asked about your statement of the thread being for those who dislike the royals , if it was just a turn of phrase or funny, that was all you needed to say after witnessing some really horrible comments previously, it’s sadly not as unusual as you may think.

You accused me of being another poster, why was that?
Some people do dislike the Royals as individuals and as an institution, again this isn't revolutionary.
Of course there will be awful comments on here about anyone in the public eye and as I said I have said awful things about Andrew myself (which I would stand by). It's not unusual is it? Or particularly sad!

Are you related to the other poster who arrived and told us their relative planned and managed these engagements?
amazing to have so many friends of staff here.

Not that I'm aware of, but I haven't read the full thread.

Every council will have someone responsible for visits by royals, politicians etc.

I have already requested many times not to be tagged constantly but it is ignored and ignoring didn’t work either, so this is the only method.

i would find it interesting hearing more of your stories but won’t bother you now 😁

Sophie and Edward attended VJ events up in Edinburgh, being Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. They attended a memorial service at Edinburgh Castle.

Shame William could not have gone to Wales being Prince of Wales.

Always flattered when people take interest in my boring posts.

At least it's not just me accused of being other posters!

It's such a weird thing to do on a thread.

Don't reply then!

How weird you keep replying, it is not obligatory to answer every post you know!
I avoid answering posts if I so wish.

Why can't the OP answer your posts anyway. Anyone can.... look! I'm answering you now!

jumpingthehighjump · 20/08/2025 15:48

Exactly! I feel very strongly about this. Charles is still undergoing treatment. Kate said back in February I think it was... she has completed treatment.
No one seems to care about what Charles is going through, and he just rolls up and does his duty.

The King was there representing the country - that’s what matters
Yet the heir to the throne and Head of the Armed Forces in the not distant future... wasn't. Bizarre

You have to remember that cancer treatment affects everyone differently, and age makes a huge difference.

Catherine, 42, had surgery and chemotherapy, and she is still struggling with the aftereffects—something many cancer survivors experience, even after completing treatment.

Charles, 76, may have a less aggressive or more manageable treatment plan, allowing him to continue his duties.

Younger patients can sometimes be hit harder by chemo or surgery because the treatment targets aggressive cells, while older patients often have slower, more tailored protocols. That’s why he could work while she could not.

It’s baffling that people don’t see that.

hangerup · 20/08/2025 16:13

@jeffgoldblum

But you wrote this?

"the whole point is nobody knows .
this whole thread is dripping with delight at sticking the boot in, and as always well timed when Harry is being criticised ."

So I am asking you? What do you mean with the above?
