Like many others have pointed out, they’ve spent the last 15 years trying to say how they’re just like any other family. When they were in Anglesey they tried it on, that Kate was like any other forces wife (I am not begrudging the work that William did. It was good, but she wasn’t like another other forces wife). Then they had the children and it was all “oh I wish we knew how to deal with toddler tantrums!” and claiming they were like any other parents. If you’re going to pretend you’re like a normal family, people will expect you to behave like one.
This is just your opinion- not fact.
They've not spent 15 years 'trying to say' they are like anyone or anything.
That's just your take on their lives.
It's hard to know if you enjoy twisting the facts for pleasure and to kick them, or you can't really understand .
The context of the RF with the late Queen and Philip is that they were often perceived as very hands-off parents. (I'm old enough to know this compared to many others on MN.)
The outcome of that supposed 'distance and formality' has been seen as a contributor to a somewhat dysfunctional family, where all the children bar one are divorced, had affairs, remarried etc.
The criticism came to a head when Diana died as the public thought that the Queen and D of E were not showing enough emotion or 'normality'.
Given the trauma of his childhood, William is trying hard to be a hands-on Dad while he can. He's trying to balance being a Dad, P of W, and supporting his wife who has had treatment for cancer. Oh and let's not forget his brother - the Spare.
They want to give their children as normal a childhood as possible, hoping no doubt to avoid the outcomes of the previous generations .
They are alike in the sense their children have tantrums. So yes, they have the same issues as other families.
Being Royal doesn't mean you escape the issues that come with having 3 kids. Yes, you have money to buy help or whatever, but you are also in the spotlight whatever you do.
We don't know how the King is. My guess is he's allowing William as much freedom as possible at the moment. The expectation was that C might live as long as his parents, close to 100, but if that's not the case the full weight of being King will come to William far sooner than anyone expected.
