Netflix deal is over

  • Both decided a statement won’t be released “Publicly, there will not be a statement and of course, if things change dramatically, they’d be open to a one-off project down the line.”
  • Talk about Paramount plus

It’s been pretty obvious for a while. No talk about the Archewell productions arm, the film they were making etc.

How long can As ever last when they won’t have NF to back it up with WLM infomercials.

I like her kitchen. It's meant to be battered and worn, that's it's charm. In contrast to all the minimalist glossy granite designs currently about.

But she claims she's a 'creative' 'home maker', so surely she'd be always wanting to tweak, design, add and change her home bring something of herself to it, even in small ways.

I spend loads of time rearranging my house and planning ways to make it lovely and I don't even have my own Netflix show about what a creative home maker I am.

Her garden though is beautiful. It's the only part of her life I would love to have.

But it's a bit like she bought the house and garden as a photo set but has added nothing of herself to it.

Profhilodisaster · 23/07/2025 17:02

Someone on X made a good point re the first look deal , if they release any content and it appears anywhere other than Netflix, then we will know it's not much cop .

LaMarschallin · 23/07/2025 17:02

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen

Tbf I think ‘Devine’ is supposed to be a ‘Pun or play on words’ to quote the late great TPratchett

I think that quote only works if you use the word "pune" instead of "pun".
It isn't funny otherwise.

How does "Devine" work as a pun(e) in this context? Is it someone's name? Or is Meghan coming over all Franglais: the wine is "De vine"?

StrawberryWasp · 23/07/2025 17:04

I think about Harry's stupid gleeful grin when he recorded himself on the 'freedom flight'.
They thought they were so clever and the world would fall at their feet and the RF would be sorry.
Then that nasty Oprah interview thinking 'we'll show them.'

Without realising they were in fact bit by bit destroying everything that was important and which gave them any relevance.
They've become a laughing stock.

And I think H has realised he didn't just throw away the role and opportunities he had as a member of the RF for himself he also threw it away for his kids.

They won't experience the heritage and opportunity which would have been available to them. They're now just like other kids who'll have to find a path and make their own money.
Which is fine, except they may not be rich, or famous or respected like he presumes he and his kids should be.

Yep this is freedom Harry. Welcome to the real world without a safety net or guaranteed money.
You're not grinning now are you?

DelectableMe · 23/07/2025 16:29

Do you think they're "frugal"?

Frugal no, splashing the money no. Somewhere in between like I said not just throwing money at replacing things that dont need replacing.

What like redesigning your engagement ring after 12 months because there wasn’t enough diamonds?

Like not tearing out plants judt because they aren't on trend or native. Like not throwing good copper pots and pans.

If someone wants to add more diamonds to their ring thats up to them. You spend the money where you want to spend it. That doesnt mean you cant afford to do things.

Spectre8 · 23/07/2025 17:13

@AtIusvue so do you own anything second hand?

FattyBumBumNoMore · 23/07/2025 17:16

Is the ‘first look’ opportunity Meghan’s divorce series? I have zero doubt that NF will keep Meghan in their back pocket to spill the tea at the right time. Not gonna lie, I’d be all over it as would many more millions of viewers…. Unlike the polo series

What is the relevance? Make your points by referring to the subject of the thread. We all have eyes to see that M and H are not frugal unless it's coming out of their own pockets.

The reason why her garden is outdated is because of the huge water pressures in California has reshaped garden design.

New garden design uses the native plants that are able to cope in the area, without the need for huge amounts of very precious water.

In addition, these designs can also act as a useful barrier to any fires, with the increase in use of gravel and stone. Weve already seen the devastation fires in the area can bring and how precious water is there.

So that’s why her garden is outdated and that’s why many homes have adopted this new style.

Glad I could help you out.

So is she being wasteful or not? Decide? I’d say it’s pretty wasteful to add more diamonds to ring that already has huge stones.

The reason why she has a time warp house and garden, is because they can’t afford to refit.

It's not about how money is spent. Imagine how hurtful it must be for H that M had the ring remodelled, after she had told the world in the engagement interview that he designed it and that the stones were from Africa. The only reasonable conclusion to draw is that she is a prize cow.

NormaMajors1992coat · 23/07/2025 17:22

Probably something to do with how many stones are in Diana’s ring, the one that the PoW wears 🙄

StrawberryWasp · 23/07/2025 17:33

I was very positive about M when they got engaged.
(in fact I was positive until Oprah.)

But even I could tell at the time she was disappointed with that ring. And tbh it isn't very remarkable in the way the POWs ring is. Or the type of ring some celebs get.

She was probably thinking: ffs my previous engagement ring was better than this!!

So no surprise when she 'elevated' it.

People have now announced the end of the Netflix deal, so I guess thats the official Sussex announcement.

Thanks for the link to this.
Typical of People magazine trying to spin it as positive as possible and make out that this decision was mutual!

  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry won't be renewing their $100 million contract with Netflix after it expires in September, The Sun reports

Meanwhile it’s more like……

She significantly altered her engagement ring since the proposal—opting for a thinner band adorned with micro pavé diamonds and adding more diamonds to the design. It also appears that the central diamond has been recut.

It’s a bit sad, really. Harry appeared to take genuine pride in designing the original ring himself to make it truly bespoke. To see it changed so extensively feels a little disheartening, especially given the personal significance it must have held for him.

There was nothing wrong with it in the first place, it was beautiful and thoughtful. It seems wasteful and extravagant to alter it so much.

I have a lot of vintage Chanel, I much prefer the term, ‘pre-loved’! My classic 2012 Karl Largerfeld little black jacket is much sought after.
My car is also second hand, and some characterful interiors…….you don’t have to always buy new to have nice things.

Unfortunately, Meghan usually opts for something expensive. And new!!!

IdaGlossop · 23/07/2025 17:41

There is a Neil Sean episode in which he reports that M first asked for William to accompany her down the aisle but had to make do with Charles. Not sure if I believe this tale.

I love that! She ‘elevated’ it. I can imagine her trying to spin it that way to Harry.

“Oh H, no—don’t think of it as changing it... I’m just elevating it. You did such a sweet job, really. But I thought, you know, a few more diamonds might give it that extra... sparkle. It’s still our ring—just a little more refined”

My2cents1975 · 23/07/2025 17:48

Netflix CEO Ted is an employee. He is not the key shareholder looking at dividend income.

The blunt reality is that Netflix is in business to make money and will shed loss-making projects. H&M not only made losses but also ruined their reputations with their behavior as reported in Vanity Fair. The only divas that make it in Hollywood are people whose outsize talent offsets their sub-standard behavior.

To quote the Spotify CEO H&M are "f*ing grifters"

I agree with @EmpressSisi though, in that Harry seemed very proud of the ring he had designed. Surely an engagement ring should
be as much about the emotion behind it as the amount of bling? I think she only altered it because it wasn’t as bling as Diana’s that Catherine has. Interesting that Catherine has a much more modest ring that she wears when off duty

IcedPurple · 23/07/2025 17:50

To get back on topic, I think most of us saw this non-renewal coming.

The only real success they have had was the post-royal 'documentary' and that's not something they can replicate, as there really can't be much left to say about their brief time as a royal couple. Everything else has either flopped, with the possible exception of WLM which I guess you could call a modest success. By all accounts they are also difficult to work with and do little to promote their shows. So more trouble than they're worth, in other words.

It's really hard to see what they can do for money going forward. The bloom has long gone off their rose and they've shown themselves to have no real audience outside of royal gossip, a time limited resource. No wonder they are looking to 'reconcile'.

I’m very interested to see what commercial ventures Harry is supposed to be coming out with soon, Is it just these social media companies he’s supposedly buying up?

If he's got any sense , it will not involve podcasts or public speaking or anything media related. He needs to do something like property investment, something private and away from the spotlight.

Whitehorses67 · 23/07/2025 18:12

In an increasingly terrifying world watching H&M disintegrate is often the only thing which cheers me up.
People so rarely get what they deserve. It’s nice to see it happening for once.
