I've never started a thread here before, but I thought some people might be interested in this take on the story by a PR podcast I listened to yesterday (started listening to this podcast as I know very little about PR!).

It would be good to know if any of the resident PR people agree.

Yes @CoffeeCantata . And AI will amplify it massively.

Can't answer can you? And that's why you people come onto these threads, expose your heroes through your own ignorance, and then throw your toys out of the pram.

They are not my heroes. I’m not a child.
they have made a lot of mistakes.
personally I would like them all to make up.
there have been issues on both sides as is normal in most families.
but the thread has now gone back to something that happened years ago.

edited to add, I have no idea what receipts are

BreadInCaptivity · 21/07/2025 19:11

Issues on both sides? Really?

I’d be really interested @Dustythewondercatin what exactly the RF did to H&M apart from say they can”t be half in half out - which was a totally appropriate response.

NormaMajors1992coat · 21/07/2025 19:18

And don’t forget the evidence!

It’s much more than a family spat, Dusty. Firstly it wasn’t a private slanging match - H & M trashed his family to the world in the worst possible way, for money. Since then H has tried to go back on some of their wild claims, but the genie is out of the bottle.

Secondly, it wasn’t just any family whose reputation they attacked. It was the UK Head of State, who has to meet and deal with foreign leaders. Harry has made his father’s job extremely difficult and possibly damaged his and the UK’s credibility in a an increasingly unstable world.

That’s why it’s not, and can’t ever be, a simple case of kiss and make up.

So interestingly, there’s rumours the nasty story about the King and his shit treatment of his gardening staff this weekend was placed /encouraged by William’s office in retaliation for the reconciliation talks leak.

Now, the timing of the “sad gardeners” article seemed suspicious- so would make sense for a hit piece on the King to make it clear someone is upset at the idea of talks with Harry.

If it is from William’s office then I do think that’s sad- Charles has always been keen on horticulture, feels like a hit on his hobby. Charles can’t fall out with both sons.

Who is propagating these rumours, other than yourself?

Bontonbonbon · 21/07/2025 20:15

I doubt it is William. It is much more likely to be another Harkle hit piece from a friendly journo a la the shit put out by Justine Baldoni’s team on Blake Lively.

Someone is so desperate to destabilise the RF and it is not William.

RandyRedHumpback · 21/07/2025 20:16

Rupert Murdoch is a notoriously RF hating republican. The gardener story is utterly pathetic and a complete nothing burger.

My2cents1975 · 21/07/2025 20:25

RandyRedHumpback · 21/07/2025 11:37

Fact: Harry and Meghan called the RF racist and accepted an award for tackling institutional racism in the RF.

Fact: Harry and Meghan called the Commonwealth Empire 2.0.

Fact: They permitted the Oprah interview to be released while Prince Philip was dying.

Fact: It was publicly known that the Netflix doc and Spare were coming out in 2022. Fact: Spare was delayed to allow Harry to add passages about QEII's death. The Queen would have known as well as everyone else did, and could have guessed what was coming down the pike.

Fact: Harry wrote about looking at his grandmother's body in Spare and moaned about his mother. It's there in his won words.

Fact: According to royal biographer, Ingrid Seward, Prince Phillip called Meghan DoW. This claim has not been challenged.

Fact: According to royal biographer, Robert Hartman, the Queen was extremely upset when H&M called their daughter Lilibet. This claim has not been challenged. H&M's threats to sue the BBC at the time of the naming, when they reported that they had not sought the Queen's permission, and the BBC refusing to back down supports this. H&M did not sue.

Where are your facts/proof that the Queen was fond of Meghan?

As ever, there is no response from the superfans when faced with facts.

New PR is now trying to "look squirrel!" with William, who is not in any way involved in this mess.

How pathetic!

I thought nothing in the DM was to be believed ??

It's to be believed when it suits them. The same as the gardener non-story in the evil Murdoch press that Harry is dragon slaying.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 21/07/2025 20:45

Story was in the Times (then the DM picked it up).

Of course it’s nonsense- it’s a nasty hit piece a week after the leaked photos of the Harry/Palace staff talks. The two must be connected. Someone was very pissed off with Charles. Going for gardening is harsh.

Vespanest · 21/07/2025 20:52

So William retaliated after the meeting ended up being a bit of a damp squib, that makes no sense at all.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 21/07/2025 20:54

Just to add- I heard the story about the sad gardeners when it was mentioned on radio 2 yesterday - it’s been picked up widely. The rumour it’s from Williams office sadly makes sense.

Or are we thinking it’s a complete coincidence that last weekend there was a scoop in the DM about talks between Harry and Charles’ offices, and then this week there’s this odd story about Charles’ staff hating him? (His crimes include asking staff to remove weeds in prominent places, and paying towards the bottom end of the going rate for the role.)

Serenster · 21/07/2025 20:59

If you actually look at that story (I’ve gone through it on the thread specifically about it) it’s a big fuss about nothing actually - a carefully written piece that tries to pull together a few not very notable things with as negative a spin as possible. It seems highly unlikely that William placed a story saying “Hey - someone filed a complaint about how the Kings Foundation Charity runs the Highgrove Garden, and the Charity investigated it and have now made changes…”

HonoriaBulstrode · 21/07/2025 20:59

Is this a continuation of the William bashing that was around at the time of 'Where's Kate?' last year?

People should ask themseves, in whose interests is it to discredit the head of state and future head of state of the UK?

I don't believe the Sussex camp is capable of coming up with a sophisticated plot, but I sure as hell believe they're dim enough to let themselves be used as useful idiots by people who do have the capability.

CoffeeCantata · 21/07/2025 21:00

I wonder if it got dunked?

wordler · 21/07/2025 21:15

The tabloids would love there to be a King Vs Heir story - conflict sells papers - the Charles vs Diana, the Diana vs Fergie, the Kate bd Meghan, and the Sussexes vs the World have been great money earners.

Unfortunately it’s clear that the King, Camilla, William and Kate all get along really well, and there’s nothing but smiles and support from all the other cousins.

The Middletons are a tightly run ship of confidentiality.

Andy is fairly hidden away.

There’s just no real drama to gossip about.

Leaves it wide open for meddlers though.

MrsLeonFarrell · 21/07/2025 21:19

Why on earth would William need to plant a piece about the King? I don't know what William personally feels about Harry at the moment but I am sure that he has more important things in his life to worry about than Harry's latest PR moves. I am also sure he can see the benefits of Harry and Charles at least doing some patching up of their father/ son relationship.

StartupRepair · 21/07/2025 21:42

When my mother died I called my cousins who all adored her. Each of them expressed their grief, their love for Mum and their support for me. Except for one who made the call about herself and the travel arrangements she would have to make for the funeral. Ours is a normal family with no global significance. I have never forgotten how those calls made me feel. Poor Charles. The one time he could have had support from Harry and it was turned into a drama about Meghan.

That excerpt from Spare genuinely shocked me!
