Is Archewell still receiving large amounts of wonga from entities like Fidelity, 95% of which (under Delaware law) is being paid back out to staff as "expenses"? Did that £6m from Fidelity from 2023 ever show up in their accounts?

Five odd years on I'd still like to know what happened to the Royal Foundation funds shifted through a couple of short-lived entities and ending up in Harold's private limited company.

One of several issues I'd have hoped to have seen addressed in Waaagh.

This reminds me of someone I knew who was absolutely adamant they knew private things about the Wales family because they knew people on the fringe of Norfolk society who talked about them.

Just because you have a friend of a friend doesn't make the gossip or stories accurate.

I've often been surprised at how many of the royal staff's family members are prepared to flap their gums post on MN.

You wouldn't think they'd have the time but here they all are, with inside knowledge, typing away all day!

😂

Maybe it explains why the Macron luggage escaped?

BemusedAmerican · 12/07/2025 00:49

I have a singing seal contact who assured me that his seal contacts in Brittany warned the Macrons away from the As Ever wine. 😁

I was thinking about this too!
that money was raised for U.K. charities and Harry took it and ran !
where is it? How can it be legal?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/07/2025 10:54

You're not alone, @jeffgoldblum and @CathyorClaire, on what happened to the Royal Foundation money, but then Haarry grew up in a family which recognises no accountability at all, so I guess he's probably just following what he knows

True puzzled !
but at least the money is still in the U.K. ( whether it’s used for good or not) , but taking the funds from the royal foundation and funnelling them through their murky business and disappearing it in the US is a step too far !
originally I was under the impression it was for the invictus games?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/07/2025 11:55

I'm pretty sure you're right and that was indeed said at some point, @jeffgoldblum, but once they'd got their hands on it all bets were probably off

I'm also interested in these frequent "partnerships" they involve when "doing good" and wonder how much is coming from their own initiatives and what's stumped up by others and credited as their own efforts

Yes ! Another good question, because it appears that they get others to donate to archwell and then apparently donate themselves from there ?
but how much do they donate ( because it seems very little!) , so are they keeping the donations themselves?
moving it around different accounts?
im no expert but to my rather poor knowledge this all looks murky to me !
frankly it’s looks like money laundering!

My understanding was that funding was provided for Travelyst and other Sussex charitable ventures but not sure if that was confirmed .

BasiliskStare · 12/07/2025 19:57

Isn't the point though that registering companies/ foundations in (is it Delaware?) makes it very difficult to view finances etc More people than H&M do this. Or has it got better tax breaks? I'm not up on this kind of thing but others will know. However I would have hoped money from the Royal Foundation would have been transparent . Archwell itself IMHO shouldn't be handling Invictus money (if it is ) if it's not accountable. I think eg Sentebale's money is more accountable - but I may be wrong there.

As I say you can tell I am not an expert.

I have no idea, jeff but transferring the money to Travalyst placed it beyond the Charity Commission's scrutiny.

Interesting article about it all here:

https://www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/royal-charities-acted-lawfully-but-spending-decisions-were-not-adequately-documented-regulator-finds.html

Note the excessive spending on lawyers and admin.

Now where have we heard that before? 🙄

Very interesting thanks Cathy! Will give it a thorough read later.

BasiliskStare · 12/07/2025 22:12

@CathyorClaire Thank you for that article. My immediate take on that is was handled appropriately from the Royal Foundation but once it got to MWX no misdeeds were identified but the admin , documentation was poor. It gives me no confidence in Harry's ability to understand proper regulations for a charity - not a peep from him on African Parks . Together with Dr Sophie's comments if I had to say immediately I would say Harry is an inappropriate Patron ( I do realise the patron has no legal standing but I'm not sure he recognises anything beyond him showing up and Princing about ) Which he could do with the men in grey suits , not so much now. Archwell - well I would just love someone to investigate that but in truth it probably isn't important enough or interesting enough for someone to take the time. Travelyst - I really don't understand what it does other than being a database for travel / Carbon / benefit to local people . I think I did read an article where many people investigated these things but still booked the cheapest holiday. (Which if you aren't getting your private jets paid for I can understand - I am sure I read this & I can try to research where )

Well…
give her time!

New to this section/ thread but just watched the documentary. Regarding John Lennon/ Yoko parallels - very interesting! I do remember years ago that John did a lot of therapy when he moved to the States, primal therapy and things like that and I think he did have a sense of loss over his mother, Julia - after his therapy he did put out some songs on this theme that basically seemed like part of his therapy - My Mummy's Dead is one I remember.

Regarding 'seeing other women' - not saying there was anything untoward going on but it was reported that when Harry first moved to the USA he spent a lot of time at Adele's, on his own without Meghan.. maybe it was him spending time with a fellow Brit and trying to make friends on his own.. interesting though, nonetheless.

PoliteRaven · 16/07/2025 10:23

I noticed a new bit of info in the documentary (well, which is news to me at any rate) - that Meghan invests in lots of start-ups? Did I have that right? I wonder if that's lucrative or what kinds of businesses she invests in particularly (it might have said but I missed that part).. it seemed to skate over that quickly. Seems a high-risk strategy.

I think she does. Whether it's high risk or not depends on whether she can afford to lose the money she's invested. But I can see this as a strategy for her when she has seen friends sell out their businesses for huge amounts of money. It's a way of having a stake in something without effort & she will be hoping one of them comes good.

That's an intersting observation.

I knew she'd invested in Clevr coffee (and taken part in an ad for the brand) but hadn't realised how wide she'd cast her net.

She appears to have at least 10 on the go in diverse sectors according to this:

https://techcrunch.com/2025/04/10/meghan-markle-has-made-another-angel-investment/

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/07/2025 12:28

As mentioned before, what does "invest" even mean in this context?

Because it can involve other things than just money, and AFAIK there aren't many details of £££ Meghan's actually contributed

Spectre8 · 16/07/2025 12:35

So what if she invests in other companies what's the actual problem with that? Plenty of people do it for example if you buy shares in a company you are investing in that company whether its a start up or not.

Edited

Nothing wrong with it.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 16/07/2025 12:45

Where has anyone said there is anything wrong with investing in a start up? Have I missed something ?
