I don't understand why she's posted this. In what way is she hoping to enhance here brand/improve her image? It's so weird.

It’s not the having fun part for me, it’s the performative nature of it. Both her and Harry focusing on the camera, performing to the camera. It’s all so disingenuous and choreographed.

And classy, obvs

StressedStepmum36 · 05/06/2025 14:31

I think it’s nice 🤷🏻‍♀️

They look like a happy couple, having a laugh. Humanising.

The “older royals” probably also are at least a bit racist, countries don’t colonise themselves, and they did also institutionalise their own disabled family members. I’d imagine behind closed doors they’re not particularly tolerant, and I can well believe that Meghan’s skin colour was an issue.

BemusedAmerican · 05/06/2025 14:32

I feel bad for the hospital staff. Harry sounded like a nightmare - getting high on the air, takeout all over the place. In this video, filming all this inept dancing.

Ohpleeeease · 05/06/2025 13:42

It looks rehearsed which is even odder. I honestly don’t care what they do in private but for the love of God don’t post it publicly because then you are inviting people to comment.

It looks like they are following along to a recordinv on the side or to someone showing them 😂

🥱

I mean you can be bored but we literally did colonise, Prince Phillip definitely was known to be a little “below the belt” and they definitely did have family members in an asylum.

It’s a dated monarchal system that is likely to have some dated ideals running through it.

Why did they need 'humanising'? If they hadn't posted a 4 year old video of themselves grinding in a hospital room, what would people have thought they were, if not human?

Thedom · 05/06/2025 14:48

User14March · 05/06/2025 11:40

I think they are very/most popular with the late teen demographic so that might be a sweet spot for the brand.

Whaaaat, I have two late teens, they have no more interest in anyone of their parent's era than I have in their teen cohort of celebrities. I think looking at someone almost as old as their dad grabbing at his crotch would absolutely gross them out, I could imagine they would be gagging at the sight, add in a pregnant woman with an enormous pregnancy belly twerking, it would have them goggle eyed and wondering what is wrong with her. .

Late teens are not interested in Meghans clothes, they are not interested in buying jam, they are not interested in Invictus, late teens think anyone over the age of 35 is 'old'. One of my teens has a friend who has a grandmother who is still in her 40's.

Nope, late teens are no where near Meghans demographic, most probably don't even know who she is.

Edited

I couldn’t be fully convinced the Royals are human, to be honest.

Anyone else here doing anything remotely similar to how their lives are laid out?

Things like that video, IMO, normalise them. That could have been any couple about to have a baby, and not necessarily the King’s son.

I don’t see why they have to be “elevated” as someone put it earlier. I don’t think we need the airs and graces, I’d almost prefer they didn’t have any and just actually lived like normal people.

They should give up their precious titles then, for them and their children, that come from the family they resent so much, and Meghan should stop calling herself HRH.

I think you're the one who is assuming that royals are 'elevated'. They're just 'normal' people who happen to be born into a certain family. None of them are particularly special. Nor do they need 'humanising,' because they are human. Just because their lives are very different from mine doesn't make them not 'human'. What a bizarre idea.

And if 'normal' means marking your 4 year old daughter's bday with a video of yourself shaking your arse in a hospital room, then nobody I know is 'normal'. Thankfully.

I actually meant that the whole royal family could do with being more normal, it might make them more accessible.

But yeah, I don’t see why the titles would be important. Nothing the matter with just being Meghan and Harry.

Tbh you have no idea how members of the royal family live.

Harry and Meghan don't need to be 'elevated' - they want to be.

MaturingCheeseball · 05/06/2025 14:54

Gosh - why are some posters so -sigh - can’t even think of a word.

The past is another country, or are you of the opinion that we should judge the past by our own superior contemporary standards?

Children were routinely institutionalised in the quite recent past. It was considered shameful to have an “abnormal” child. The offer was there straightaway in hospital (or at home) for the child to be taken away. There were no extra benefits for such children, and many were of the opinion that it was somehow your fault . Mil had a baby with cerebral palsy (a spastic as she called him because that was the accepted term for her) in the late 50s. Against strong advice she and fil kept him, and it was a struggle. Fil’s family would not let them visit in case the neighbours saw. And when ds’s brother started school, the other mothers crowded away from mil because she had a child in a wheelchair.

In the case of the rf, the Queen branch was unaware of these institutionalised cousins, and as for Prince George (I believe it was) he lived a pleasant life, if hidden from view.

… Interesting.

The conversation on the thread before I posted was around race, Meghan being black or not, and whether the Queen liked Hitler. So it was relevant.

My2cents1975 · 05/06/2025 14:56

Two vapid attention seekers made their daughter's birthday about them.

It is a PR fail. As ever.

And all the deflection in the world won't change the fact that they have damaged their brand.

SidekickSylvia · 05/06/2025 14:56

Whatever you think of them, there's no denying that this is an absolute gift to people who love taking the piss out of them. I can't believe how stupid they both are.

You’re right, just off to dust my palace and get my chauffeur to take me to Lidl 😂

Whataloadoffuss · 05/06/2025 14:57

They don't post photos of their dcs like William & Kate, so this is their way instead. They're celebrating their daughter's birthday, this is her birth-day. Her Mum is dancing on the day, it doesn't mean the days isn't Lilli getting thoroughly spoiled, because of one SM post.
I don't see the issue, each to their own. Whether you like it or not, she is doing amazing in the video, being so heavily pregnant, good on her! Harry is just an excited dad, it doesn't have to be amazing, or what ever unrealistic standards people have on this thread. I bet it is better than all of you could do.

I wish I could have had the opportunity to do that, but was induced and hooked up to a drip, what I would have gave for them just to allow me to bloody stand up!!

I think it’s a bit odd to be pissed off that a woman you don’t know, danced with her husband and then put it on social media 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m wondering why this particular thread is the hot topic for defence , when most of the others have been “tumbleweed “ ?
