How can Harry be so deluded?

1000 replies

HiRen · 04/06/2025 17:38

The paranoia deepens

I don't really know what to conclude from this other than that Harry must feel the victim of a deep state conspiracy. Being a spoilt brat, and not understanding that he's there to serve his country rather than the country being there to serve him, can't help. Even if he did fear strategic delays, why would he jump to the conclusion that specific individuals have it in for him, rather than that there's a bigger picture to consider?

I just can't fathom the depths of misery and confusion he must experience on a daily basis. He must think his whole life was a lie until he met Meghan. I really do think things with Harry are much worse than they seem. Which puts an entirely different, and much darker, gloss on all of Meghan's utterings of her era of joy.

I honestly wouldn't want to be in their orbit. And I wonder whether those who remain in their orbit are desperate, whether as friends or employees. They're too much.

Harry and Meghan explored changing surname to Spencer amid children’s passport delays

That’s why I said it’s excruciating, how the pair of them can’t see it is completely beyond me.

MaturingCheeseball · 06/06/2025 15:56

I read that Meghan has gained half a million new followers. So this is a win for her, right? Does followers equal freebies and opportunities to merch? Because this is a new branding direction seemingly - not as a pp says quiet luxury and business expertise.

As for Harry - his only use is as (Montecito) court jester. He has absolutely nothing else to offer.

NewAgeNewMe · 06/06/2025 15:37

Possibly not, there is/was a video of William ‘dad dancing’ somewhere. But no way was it ass excruciating as the Sussexes.

Dad dancing is almost different to twerking in a delivery room

NewAgeNewMe · 06/06/2025 16:08

Well yes. It’s excruciating watching them, but if extra clicks then achieved whatever their objective is. I cannot believe that they had the world at their feet, now not so much.

Buxusmortus · 06/06/2025 16:15

Who could have imagined that a few short years after their royal wedding they would be reduced to putting videos on Instagram of themselves twerking.
And astonishingly that's supposed to be a celebration of their child's birthday! Talk about self-obsession.

It depends on who is following her and why. I follow her so that I can see what she posts, so much is distorted in the media i like to see the original post. But I'm not following her because I'm going to buy over priced packet mixes or because I want to buy endless beige clothes. That's what she is selling via her instagram most of the time.

I doubt the twerking would appeal to the people who actually buy her stuff because they aspire to her lifestyle. Is she changing the demographic she is selling to or is it just more brand confusion?

It's not that difficult to get a few hundred thousand extra followers if you're willing to post something tacky and 'sensational'. I guess if she'd posted a video of the delivery itself she'd tack on half a million. I know, I know, don't give her ideas!

But are the people who follow her for twerking videos the same people who would buy whatever it is she is selling? Wasn't she going for an 'elevated' SoCal image? Kind of Goop lite? Could you imagine Gywneth posting a video of herself hitching up her skirt and grinding in the labour room?

My2cents1975 · 06/06/2025 16:34

I would love to have input from our resident expert @GiveMeSpanakopita on the PR aspect of this, but here's my thoughts.

Cardi B can release a video twerking. It is consistent with her brand positioning as a pop/rap music celebrity and resonates with her customer base.

Hannah Neeleman and Nara Smith cannot release a video twerking as it is inconsistent with the tradwife brand positioning and will alienate their core customer base.

Celebrity and tradwife are two separate and almost opposite brands requiring a sustained and clear messaging. Now throw in humanitarian (buying awards and creating scenes at charities) and girl boss (spread and pancake mix entrepreneur) and that's just a recipe for complete brand chaos.

Also, he didn't perform for the cameras, in fact he didn't know he was being filmed. He was on a night out.
He certainly didn't perform for something to be uploaded to social media and to deliberately make the headlines.
Nor did he deliberately dance in front of a camera at crotch level 🤢

Not2identifying · 06/06/2025 16:37

I suspect the brand confusion stems from the fact that Meghan is not that clear on her own identity; it feels like she 'play acts' at everything which is sad really. At the heart of all this is likely to be low self esteem (despite the fact that it looks like the opposite). I think she's really, really insecure.

IsoldeWagner · 06/06/2025 16:37

Actually, @My2cents1975 , you've reminded me - they haven't bought an award for a while. Perhaps one for dancing?

What about Strictly Come Dancing?

Ohpleeeease · 06/06/2025 16:43

I’ve come round to the idea that the video was a hoax. To me it’s in the same vein as the thing she did with Ellen and at some point I expect there to be a reveal.

I don’t think it was a wise decision to go in this direction but it’s certainly getting her talked about.

edited to tidy up my own clumsiness

Nah one of them would go on and moan the whole way through, then if they didn’t win Harry would sue the BBC and blame it on his Dad.

Not2identifying · 06/06/2025 16:48

I actually think that they've sunk low enough that Meghan, on Strictly Come Dancing, could do really well. Harry is too sulky and petulant.

Edit to add: the American version not the British one!

Your thoughts are spot on. Would you like a job? 😄

As you rightly say, it's just another example of the Sussexes' hopeless brand confusion.

Twerking doesn't fit with being Royal, a status they seem desperately to want to keep.

It doesn't fit in with 'global humanitarian' either. Would Malala or Amal release a pregnant twerking video? Give me a break.

I can see (just) how it might fit with Meghan's take on the non-domestic goddess subgenre - a bit ditzy, a bit irreverent, not averse to takeout food as long as you sprinkle some dried foliage on it.

But the rest...nah. Brandwise, they're spread so thin that it's practically see-through in places. And nothing of substance underneath.

You don't need a PR profesh to analyse them at this point. Anyone with eyes can see that it's all becoming a bit of a mess.

Would she listen to her professional and do as they said though? I don’t get the impress she likes being told what to do 😆

Oh neither of them have got the resilience and commitment, or, as you say,the right mentality to be part of any genuine competition where they were up against anyone else, particularly with talent. . I was thinking about them buying another award, perhaps a Kennedy one for Best Dancer in a labour room?.

😂😂
It'll be William and Kate's fault as well. No doubt.

Not2identifying · 06/06/2025 16:52

I think Meghan could act in the way that's required for Strictly contestants. If or when she was critiqued, she'd pull a slightly sad face, etc.

... however, she'd be weeping on the floor of the rehearsal room. The "collapsed weeping" seems to happen a lot, according to Spare.

Haven't they, or she, got one coming up? Vaguely remember reading something, can't recall what it's for. Best use of flower sprinkles in a tv show, perhaps?

Oh, I thought it was for best use of the colour beige in Montecito?
