The Era of Joy didn't last long.

This is going to be interesting, it's going to be a full on PR onslaught for the next few months, and then we will have Harry launching his very own 'commercial project'.

Clearly an article straight from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, giving an exclusive to the DM.

PR is working hard for their money this week!!!

Obviously this is gearing up for Harry’s supposed commercial venture launching this year.

Just like with Meghan, where they rebranded her image from victim to joyful, before the hard launch of the rip off fandom merchandise business disguised as a lifestyle brand.

This will be Harry’s ‘humility’ era….before hard launching whatever shite he’s going to flog. I suspect flogging stuff to support your mental health/wellbeing but aimed at men. Think gummies etc.

MayaKovskaya · 25/05/2025 12:21

Humility? Harry? 😂😂

jeffgoldblum · 25/05/2025 12:24

I’m not sure if any venture is capable of making Harry “beloved “ or “popular “ !

This reminds me of places I worked where the senior management recognised there was a problem, brought in consultants to fix the issue, but didn't like the recommendations. They then brought in another team of consultants, who came to exactly the same conclusions, and then another, and it went on like this for a few years after I left.

I still think, in theory, they could turn around their public image to an extent but that would require them to listen to their staff and change the way they do things. No point in restructuring and bringing in new staff if you never implement the findings.

This sounds oh so familiar, along with, if in doubt, add another management layer.

There isn’t enough money in the world to buy Meghan what Simon Cowell memorably called “the likeability factor”. That team is going to have a bumpy ride as they try to achieve the impossible.

I admire BP for playing the long game.

I haven't got the foggiest clue what they could possibly do commercially to make the sort of money they seem to want, the sort that could support this sort of lifestyle longterm.

I know people whose family went from pretty much unimaginable heights of power, grandeur and money to being penniless refugees with titles (Russian revolution) They got on with it, they adapted and they made new lives. That is admirable. Someone like Harry, who has decided to stick his fingers up and leave (with millions) can't seem to get over the loss of status he inflicted on himself, let alone the need for a change of lifestyle as a result of that choice is not.

I can imagine harry selling whiskey, a go to for celebrities wanting a quick endorsement.

Isn't that quite a crowded market already though? You've got the likes of George Clooney and Ryan Reynolds with their own alcohol brands. Who's going to buy Harry's brand over theirs? And even if it's a political clash with MAGA- inclined customers who wouldn't buy Clooney's stuff, they're not going to choose Harry's instead. They'll go for Conor MacGregor or someone else. I think they've made it hard for themselves to carve out a competitive niche in the market.

He said in the BBC interview that he had been in service for 35 years at the point he left the RF, aged 35.

I.e. he provides 'service' just by existing, he doesn't have to 'do' anything other than breathe.

Was he "in service" when he was dressing up as a naxi, doing drugs at Eton, and having his backside smacked by an older woman who took his virginity in a field?

The shenanigans in 'spare' make Harry's concept of service look good fun.

Harry's 'service' was mostly the odd appearance next to famous parents and GPs (or famously being forced to grieve in public when his mum died, that was sad) He briefly stepped up to the plate when the RF tried to launch the fab 4 but MM was more of a solo artist and she didn't like the now PoW taking precedence, so off they popped and they've been seeking attention ever since.

PullTheBricksDown · 25/05/2025 12:31

BoredZelda · 25/05/2025 09:27

Ahh, the Daily Mail never fails does it? Writes a piece full of nonsense, (probably “sourced” from within the RF) so people can paste the link and have everyone who believes it, salivate over it and post their vitriol.

And you all fall for it hook, line and sinker. 😆

Sure. A piece full of actual names and job roles, that could be easily debunked or corrected if inaccurate, is not going to be 'nonsense'. Wrong guess. Would you like to go for double jeopardy, where the scores can really change? 😄

foreverblowingbubbless · 25/05/2025 12:32

I think the only thing left is to do a reality show, actually in their home, involving the kids. Then again, they've shared so much, what else is there to tell?

MrsFinkelstein · 25/05/2025 12:36

12 of a staff is an insane amount for a couple without a fully functioning business.

As ever is still a really small, just started start up business with no guarantee it will be long term successful.

With love Meghan did pretty good - it was top 10 at least initially after release. I can see it being renewed, but on a much smaller deal. That kind of show is fairly inexpensive to produce, and they had mainly not well known guests who wouldn't have cost much, if anything. If it is renewed I would imagine any deal/contract would be much more specific and the terms completely nailed down - and Meghan may have to bear a higher brunt of production costs.

Even if it's renewed I still don't see why they need 12 staff (not including Archewell). Even a staff of 6 for both of them would seem a bit excessive.

It's just like pissing good money for nothing.

Edit to add - I can't imagine these people are full-time, they much just be doing a couple of hours per week for the Sussexes.

foreverblowingbubbless · 25/05/2025 12:36

And storytelling - well yes very apt !

I‘m surprised these people want to work for them actually. Given their reputation and the fact there there
are no real business interests.

foreverblowingbubbless · 25/05/2025 12:43

Neither have the rest of us, @Uricon2, which is what makes watching this so fascinating. Even the 6 part supposed "reality show" they originally did for Netflix turned out to be anything but, so I'm not convinced another would fly

There have also been several occasions where "why am I having to do this?" has been written all over Harry, so whether he'd be able to produce the sort of enthusism needed to sell products is open to question

Edited to add are you about, @GiveMeSpanakopita? When it comes to PR we could really do with your professional input here ...

They would need this!!

I wonder if working with the Daily Mail rather than suing it is part of their new strategy? If so, it’s the quickest way to announce things as the DM have perfected creating Sussex clickbait to the extent that Harry farting in public would make them money.

The only way that they can turn things around is to listen to advice and not hire yes-men and yes-women who will be quitting every few months. There’s an alleged history of bullying and conflict with staff so giving them the power to go against what the Sussexes want is the only way that they will stay and possibly change things.

As others said, humble pie is the only way to go. I know that Harry owes PRH another book - that would be a good place to publicly admit to some fault and make an actual pledge not to discuss his British family any more.

I think the people who guessed CBD gummies or alcohol will be right. Lots of celebs have their names on tequilas etc and he could play to his British side by endorsing a Scotch (although how that will work with the Trump tariffs is a mystery) I would assume that As Ever would have a wine since California is famous for it. Lots of celebs endorse the CBD gummies too - Kerry Katona popped onto my X timeline and like Harry she’s a famous drug users.

It will be interesting to see if Harry goes for the US market or international markets with his commercial plans. The US market is bigger but UK publications like the Daily Mail would buy anything that he released so they can review it and their reviews would generate interest internationally.

Let’s see how long this last considering their staff turn over and countless accusations of bullying.

FightingFish · 25/05/2025 12:59

I heard speculation on the radio that PH new commercial enterprise is going to be launching a perfume. I suppose they could do his and her scents and then expand from there.
