Do you think some of you are addicted to hating Harry and Meghan?

More and more these manic threads are popping up on mumsnet, wild posts and theories and then hundreds of posts brimming with excitement about catching them out or exposing them. It’s like a game or a hunt. Have many of you crossed the line from interested to addicted?

Ahm pure fuming.

Particularly the 3rd-rate cable actress aspect; fancy!! If someone must dismantle the monarchy it would be much more decent to do it with at least some PBS or even ABC under one's belt, not ... not ... just ... USA !!!!!! 😡

Yes - I agree.

I only respect well-informed, intellectual and considered attacks on the monarchy. Do you want your world changed at the whim of ignorant and trivial people?😁

I haven't seen anything approaching hatred of the sort you describe on here. Though I'm very critical and sceptical about H & M (and yes, I do get a lot of amusement out of following them - they are massively entertaining), my experience on MN is that the really appalling venom and spite was (and just occasionally still is) directed at William and Catherine. I think this is because - sorry, but I have to be honest or this thread is pointless - H & M critics do tend to be well-educated, articulate, fair, well-informed and

I don't know if you look at Celebitchy? If not, I'm not recommending it. It's like an open sewer of hatred, malice, prejudice and frankly, evil. Those people are unhinged - a corny word, but it's the only one that fits in that context. Now, when I've looked at Celebitchy, just to see what the Squad are up to, I feel I need a shower - it's so disgusting.

Nothing said on MN comes near to that level of obsession!

When people like M & H have done the things they've done (especially in harming others) and continue to parade themselves as virtuous people and to preach at everyone, it's not surprising some of us will have an opinion, and want to comment!

I’m sorry CoffeeCantata
but I don’t think the level of criticism is proportionate to what H & M are supposed to have done, whether it’s on Mumsnet or in some gossip magazine. Both types are pretty horrible imho,

Does gossip and constant negativity become better morally somehow because it is expressed in an articulate manner?

CoffeeCantata · 11/05/2025 15:50

Ketzele · 11/05/2025 13:03

I think having strong opinions on H and M is the hallmark of an absolute saddo.

Well...not really.

I have an opinion on pretty much anything I know anything about.

Don't you? I wouldn't know how NOT to have an opinion.

Erm…you messaged on Meg’s Era of Joy thread which started out as a positive thread. The positive threads are there (like the ones i posted upthread), you’re just choosing to ignore them and jump in on the negative ones.

Looking back through your posts (which you invited us to do) you have also posted some pretty nasty and dismissive posts about Catherine and William in early 2024 with the whole ‘where’s Kate’ debacle, including criticising William for not attending his Godfather’s funeral (which we later found out was because he found out his wife had cancer) and hoping that William and Catherine were separating. When someone asked you to stop speculating you also replied back “why”.

Pot calling the kettle black?

Edited

Damn-now I’ve got to search myself! Yes, I did post on the Era of Joy thread (which was positive for about two minutes before it turned nasty)but only to remind posters about the hideous Jeremy Clarkson article, which everybody did/should have condemned. I assume everyone would agree with me there. And yes, I have been critical of William and Catherine. I did not say I hadn’t been. That does not make me a H&M supporter.

BustingBaoBun · 11/05/2025 16:11

TheAutumnCrow · 11/05/2025 14:17

I agree.

I hope people are reporting this thread for what it is.

That is surely a joke. When there have been literally hundreds and hundreds of threads about H&M calling them every name under the sun, quoting ideas and speculation as pure fact, insulting them in every single way imaginable, laughing and sneering at them, diagnosing Meghan as a narcissist, criticising her smile, her clothes, every bit of her body, saying Harry is dim, under the thumb, thick, stupid, ... you want the one thread questioning that behaviour taken down?
You couldn't make it up.

AuroraCake · 11/05/2025 16:14

Addicted to the drama of them. Very possibly. But in the way of TV drama. In the way people were addicted to the Diana drama. But people forget now she was very disliked the summer she died. And then she was a Saint.

The Jeremy Clarkson article is worth raising again @curlewkate. Anyone who hated Meghan would have enjoyed the article. I found it repellent, as suspect many others on this thread did who have been accused of hating Meghan. The article is a litmus test for hatred.

Really you discuss this with friends!
I don’t talk about h and m with family or friends why would I!

I think when people get involved in a lot of discussion online about a certain subject, they often discuss it in real life too.

But to be honest, if I posted thousands of posts about Meghan and Harry online, I wouldn’t want to tell my family and friends about that either because it is obsessive and my family and friends would think I was mad to be so bothered.

I have seen Harry called a c*nt (can't even bring myself to type it out). I have seen Meghan likened to something from a sewer. And Harry... every single way you could describe someone as unintelligent... extremely rude and unpleasant. That is only a couple of examples.

Maybe start practising what you preach. Stop criticising people for criticising others when you do exactly the same.

In hindsight, your speculation around the Wales’ marriage, hoping they were about to announce a separation, stating that there was no good reason for William to miss a funeral and joining in ‘where’s Kate’ conspiracy theories by posting your favourite reflects very poorly on you.

True! And if I posted thousands of posts online about h and m , I would not either!
however I don’t discuss them with my family and friends as we have far better things to talk about!

I think they've done very bad things - I won't go into all that again here but I'm shocked at the hurt and harm they've caused to those closest to them. I see it as a terrible betrayal of trust. I think many people were hurt and damaged, but the cruelty to the late Queen and Prince Philip in their last years and months was absolutely unforgivable. How can that be OK?

Anyways...if they'd both flown off somewhere - the US, Canada, and African country, Australia etc etc and lived as private people (OK, papped once on a while) I wouldn't be on this thread now.

(Incidentally, I'd like OP to answer this question: why do you think it's strange that people have an opinion, and feel the need to comment, on 2 people who put themselves constantly in the public eye? Oh, and who preach to us all? And continue their attacks on the RF, even those suffering from cancer? I don't understand why OP thinks that's so odd.)

OP? If you start a thread, I think you need to answer some questions yourself.

Interesting observation.
I have noticed that women I know who are mixed heritage particularly hate her and get notifications for anything said about her.
I trained with two American doctors of Indian origin and they despise Kamala Harris and voted for Trump.
Internalised racism.

I've only ever been complimentary about Meghan's physical appearance. I don't deal in bitchy or unkind remarks about anyone's appearance. But - Harry has been horrible about William's hair loss, hasn't he?

It's not either of their looks which is interesting to me. Meghan is without a doubt a very attractive woman (but I don't give anyone credit for being beautiful - it's not an achievement, is it?) It's what they do as opposed to what they preach.

Ah I thought you looked me up!!
I do post on other topics!
woman’s rights and the middle east was of interest!
and as a carer for my son quite often I disappear for months on end, but obviously as I don’t name change and have been here for years and years, I imagine I have managed quite a few posts!
not however thousands and definitely none that are offensive or are critical of anything but well documented behaviour or words from the horses mouth!!!
I stand by my posts and history, you however are an unknown quantity!

lovemetomybones · 11/05/2025 17:21

I just finished listening to his book and I came to the conclusion that he isn’t very reflective and plays the victim in every situation he encounters and every act he does. His lack of reflection and accountability make him a unlikeable person.

however saying that his book also made me realise the extent of press intrusion in his life and how it has impacted his mental health, his relationships, his family relationships. He cannot get away from it. Also his reliance on security throughout his life has been very much been inflicted upon him from birth. I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult life is for him and Megan with both of these factors both being in play all the time constantly.

case in point the utter rubbish article written about him this week, such an absolute waste of time to produce, read and at the expense of a normal life for him. Come on he knocked on a few doors! But still comes out as a villain. It’s toxic rubbish, but I can see how it’s absolutely destroyed his perspective in life.

I don’t like his lack of accountability, but i absolutely feel for his situation. Would never ever want his life. I hope one day he can live an anonymous life in his beloved Botswana.

I am a royalist, but I do think the scrutiny of the royals is just so damaging and too much. It makes me question why we have the monarchy- do we just like publically torturing a family for our entertainment?!

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 11/05/2025 17:21

I think there was a huge public affection for the Late Queen and Prince Philip. When she died, and Charles became King after a lifetime of waiting only to be halted in his tracks by cancer and then Catherine getting cancer - they became more "real" to many in that they're afflicted by just the same shit as the rest of us. Harry has shown no dignity or decency towards his family since meeting Meghan. And that's why people just read the headlines and sigh "what the fuck is he doing now". My personal thought is that he's lost all sympathy for being the young bereaved boy standing in front of the world behind his mothers' coffin. And without that sympathy, he's just an entitled oaf who appears relentless in his crusade to hurt his birth family.
