The royal family

Do you think some of you are addicted to hating Harry and Meghan?

More and more these manic threads are popping up on mumsnet, wild posts and theories and then hundreds of posts brimming with excitement about catching them out or exposing them. It’s like a game or a hunt. Have many of you crossed the line from interested to addicted?

Are you a bit dim? We've been on the thread all day. We get overtime.

All day? That sounds like an addiction. OP, your question has been answered. 🤓

Also, overtime?? I thought the Royal household are trying to cut costs.

RandyRedHumpback · 15/05/2025 01:34

Well I have been working all day too. And parenting all day. And dipping in and out all day. I think that's how MN generally works for most people. A distraction in between other things. You'd know, you've been here for years. That's quite an addiction on your part.

Did you read and understand my post???
ive no interest in searching your posts, I’ve seen them and it’s not something I’d like to revisit.
I would advise against urging others to do so.

And back to attacking me again

myrtleWilson · 15/05/2025 06:13

Oh give over @Spectre8 - rehabbing a victim status isn’t going to wash after your posts of the last 48hrs

They do, which is why some posters thought the action of posting so frequently was evidence of being addicted.

Oh please

I posted on the thread yesterday. Ive had this username for a few days, I’ve been on mumsnet for years.

What exactly are you insinuating? Have you advanced searched my name to think that I’m new, how else would you presume that? Wasn’t that behaviour called stalking on the thread previously or does that only apply to the actions of others?

Here we go again.

How on earth is that an attack? Seriously. Leave this be.

NewAgeNewMe · 15/05/2025 07:13

I’m on telly addicts probably as much if not more so than I am here. The Sussexes provide so much content to comment on. It’s like the Sussex soap opera. Better than eastenders! If they didn’t provide content, we wouldn’t be here. If they don’t want people to comment then the answer lies with them.

all this leave them alone, why do you care - it’s just smoke and mirrors. It’s a revenue stream for them pure and simple.

if they wanted a quiet life, they’d ditch the all titles, not name their dd Lilibet amongst other cynical stuff. So yes they put themselves out there to be commented on.

Here we go again.

It’s you and your group that you should tell that to. You say things like this, or claim there are patterns and tactics to people posting but that seems to be projecting your own behaviours to me.

On this thread and others, someone posts that you perceive as being on the other side, so you insinuate things about them, others turn up to back each other up, then the memes and gifs start, the sarcasm and mocking, calling people stans and Sussex squad, the hypocritical posts etc. The numbers of their posts mean anyone slightly challenging their behaviour is shouted down. This is a pattern and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by me and others. So you comment, here we go again, applies to you and your group. It works though because apparently people give up posting,

And I haven’t even said anything positive about Meghan and Harry. I really am genuinely starting to think this is coordinated. I used to think that theory was mad, but having seen the behaviour repeated on numerous threads, I think there may be something in it, possibly the other side of it as well, but it’s more noticeable with the people who post a lot who dislike Harry and Megan because there are more of them here.

theraininspainisapain · 15/05/2025 07:44

@NewAgeNewMe Totally agree, the issue for them is they expect everyone to believe their content and very few people do, so the derision follows.

I don't think they expected the backlash from their public hand wringing, nor did they expect people to be repulsed by the timing of their major media interviews and Harrys book, they lost a lot of supporters after the Oprah interview and again after the Netflix series, then ridiculed after Harrys' biography with Harry becoming a laughing stock, compounded along the way by the way hi wife treats him with little respect in most of their public outings (until recently when she realised it was a bad look for HER).

Harry now going down the conspiracy route stating his family want him dead as a dodo, yet wanting a reconciliation with a family you are publicly stating want you dead. No one is believing that's what you really think, dude, lying again for the clicks. (the dead part not the reconciliation part).

They are still desperately searching for relevancy which they need for their 'brand' to have any traction at all.

Very few are buying what they are desperately trying to sell in their daily soap opera drama..

NewAgeNewMe · 15/05/2025 07:56

The pair were very foolish.

They could have done Oprah, NF & Spare completely differently. They could have hyped up the advantages being part of the RF gave them, how mostly everyone was friendly (even if not), little tidbits that didn’t matter eg the Queen likes boiled eggs for breakfast. Complete inanities that no one would have cared about.

They could still have been in the fold and said it wasn’t a life for them, as so alien to Meghan’s upbringing. Most People would have understood that.

But they didn’t. They called an entire nation racist when most have been welcoming. All those crowds at their wedding. Were they all racist? No not buying it.

They have been hoisted up by their own petard.

I don’t believe him when he says he wants a reconciliation, anyone wanting reconciliation wouldn’t be saying what he is publicly. I also don’t believe his family want him dead, has he said those actual words?

I do think he has a point about security, if it’s true that other people get it for life and he doesn’t. I don’t know why they don’t just give him a security assessment, like he’s asking for, I can’t remember what it’s called, but the thing he said he used to get annually but now hasn’t had since 2020. Not giving him that plays into his hands as it looks odd. There is obviously some level of security risk for him just possibly not as high as he says.

I think the only ones getting it for life are usually the reigning monarch and consort, heir to the throne and spouse with their DCs if under 18. If no DCs then second in line. Others while acting for the monarch.

Happy to be corrected though!

I wouldn’t expect Charlotte and Louis to be given security once George has dcs.

I don’t believe they want to be in the fold and thats what it comes down to. I can understand them telling the world about the comments on skin colour, if that happened it shouldn’t be hidden. After Harry’s last interview, he seems to be saying that the RF wanted full control of him and if that’s true, saying it wasn’t the life for them and stepping back more quietly may not have gone well. We’ll never know.

NewAgeNewMe · 15/05/2025 08:13

Well on the skin colour thing if it happened they both say different things, so was it when pregnant or while still dating?

Was it in response to an article about the potential colouring of George due to Kate’s dna and wanted to prepare the Sussexes for comments that would come up, or was it actually racist?

We will never know but on balance I don’t think it would be Charles as he seemed welcoming and inclusive of Meghan. He wouldn’t have walked her down the aisle if he was. Which means for me, I then don’t believe it was Kate either.

I’d not be surprised if say it was Camilla or Andrew. Gut feeling, nothing more. But Charles and Kate I don’t think so.

I think when he was referring to other people getting security, he was talking about prime ministers and former prime ministers., even Liz Truss who didn’t serve for long. I don’t disagree with them getting it if they’re deemed at risk, but I can see Harry’s point that he is at risk. He should have the assessment like he used to. He is saying he will get it on a case by case basis which sounds fine, until he said that he’ll only get it when invited here by his family. If that is true, that doesn’t make any sense, if he’s at risk, he’s at risk, it doesn’t matter whether he is here by invitation or not.

I would imagine there will still be some level of threat to Charlotte and Louis even if George has children. Harry got protection after William had children as he on,y seems to be saying it’s stopped since 2020 ish?

NewAgeNewMe · 15/05/2025 08:21

But he cannot expect the country to be paying for his security on tap when he no longer lives here. It’s like saying you want to keep the company car after leaving the company.

Prime ministers are completely different category.

If he’s still at risk then he shouldn’t have written about his taliban kill which I suspect was deliberate from a security perspective.

Live your life quietly and people will forget about you. But that isn’t what the pair want.

Edited

The reason that prime ministers and ex PM’s, even those who didn’t serve for long, get security is because they have been privy to matters of national security and therefore there could be a risk to the nation if, for example, they were kidnapped. It’s got nothing to do with who they actually are and everything to do with the job they did. Harry is not a risk to national security because he was not doing that sort of job. Ever. He is not in direct line to the throne and so is not privy to that sort of information. Other members of the RF do not have full time security unless they are representing the monarch (Anne, Edward etc) Harry is no different. This has been said a number of times by the well informed posters in these threads 😊

I obviously don’t know if it was said, but if it was, I don’t blame them for talking about it. To mention skin colour as being a ‘concern’ isn’t good and would be very upsetting from your own family.

I don’t think Charles would have refused to walk her down the aisle, so I don’t think we can read anything into him doing that. It would have been seen as good PR, not that I think that is the reason he did it. People often have a way they are in public and a way they are privately which don’t always match.

I understand that, but if what Harry says about being assessed as the highest level of risk a few years ago is true, it doesn’t make any sense for him now not to even need assessing. He has never had a job like PM, he has never been privy to matters of national security, yet he was deemed high risk and got security previously.
