Do you think some of you are addicted to hating Harry and Meghan?

More and more these manic threads are popping up on mumsnet, wild posts and theories and then hundreds of posts brimming with excitement about catching them out or exposing them. It’s like a game or a hunt. Have many of you crossed the line from interested to addicted?

I was conscious that many people were very invested, and I was worried that they would take it very hard. So I wrote a post. Which I do not regret for a moment. Happy for anyone to search.

Taking it very hard that a woman was not in fact dead, being cheated on, being beaten up or having a Brazilian butt lift, but instead had cancer? Wow, you had sympathy for them?

How strange to be worried about people who wrote vile things about Catherine.

People find honesty less irritating than pretence !
I criticise h and m , I find their behaviour disgusting, I own this , I have occasionally defended them if the comments are outright lies( such as Harry’s paternity) but I am definitely not a fan!!!

I will say this ! @Samcrohas said nice comments about some of the rf , I have seen this , I’m more willing to believe she is middle of the road than others, who have displayed no such evidence.

I'm not an avid Monarchist and unlike someone who posted people are upset because Harry left the UK. Not me. Would I like to see him back in the UK? Nope! These are the things that are dragged out by many often from abroad who denigrate the UK as a " salty island " . They think we are crying our eyes out when the reality is we see this as a good thing - he and she didn't like it 🤷‍♀️ good - go.

What I do detest are liars and the Sussexes are liars proven time and time over. I also detest hypocrites which they are as well. Harry could be an ordinary person doing these things and I would still detest him.

When I say I detest I'm not planning assassination plots or sending them hate mail. I will however comment on their farces.

TBF an awful lot of the 'very invested' posters seemed to have both unrecognisable usernames and little to no previous posting history.

I appreciate usernames can be changed and I don't doubt there was some usual identity hiding going on but nowhere near enough for the suspicious deluge of outlandish posts involved.

You've asked why I started the thread? To see if anyone would recognise a behaviour pattern or reflect on what I think are obsessive traits. It’s not about being pro or anti anyone (I neither like or dislike H&M or any of the royals) it’s about people becoming overly invested and enjoying the chewing over of every detail and layering it with hate.

This thread and the ongoing contributions shows that obsession.

I want a republic and despair at the continued foisting of an unelected institution on a public who has to pay while having no say.

All the time we're paying for any of them (and that includes Harold's continued leeching from the UK state under various guises) I'll comment as I please on the detail.

When people are obsessed/addicted, they often don’t see it or don’t want to see it, so I think it’s unlikely anyone will reflect on their behaviour based on your comments, if they are addicted/obsessed. In fact, the opposite is true, people often dig their heels. I’m not accusing anyone here of being addicted/obsessed, I’m just talking generally.

I think cult is a little strong, but having read through some threads here, people do team up and it does seem co ordinated at times, possibly on both sides but it looks more like it on one side because there are more of those posters.

Well, not really. All it proves is that when enough people get together on a thread it leads to animated discussion. 🤷‍♀️
