More and more these manic threads are popping up on mumsnet, wild posts and theories and then hundreds of posts brimming with excitement about catching them out or exposing them. It’s like a game or a hunt. Have many of you crossed the line from interested to addicted?

@Spectre8 I'm a little confused here. You deliberately make a post to upset an innocent poster, who is posting in good faith, in order to do some sort of controlled science experiment to see if other posters will defend them. Then when the other posters do defend the innocent poster, you call them hypocrites. I just don't see the logic behind your actions or posts.

Take a walk outside for awhile, regardless of the weather, and have a nice beverage and take a break from the RF board.

I rarely post on here but I do read quite often. I'm not an M & H fan at all but I completely understand that we all have, and are allowed to have, different opinions.

In fact, I welcome the different opinions because they engender good discussion, and it's always good to hear other's views. There are many posters here, pro and anti, who post what I consider to be intelligent and nuanced posts.

What I don't like are those posters who, while proclaiming not to be M & H fans, will defend them no matter what. It doesn't matter what M & H do, certain posters will defend them to the hilt. I find that infuriating. There used to be a poster whose views I didn't agree with, but she made a good argument, and she was impartial and (mostly) fair.

Certain posters though, of whom there is one on this thread, spout any old nonsense and honestly it smacks of desperation. There are now 3 posters on this thread that that particular poster has responded very unpleasantly to.

Nobody's stopping anyone defending H&M, for heaven's sake. It's not anyone else's fault that you are in the minority in thinking they haven't done anything bad enough to warrant criticism.

I think you are crediting them with too much intelligence to be doing a controlled science experiment. It's pretty clear that they thought they were attacking someone who usually defends the RF. They fucked up and should just apologise instead of making lame excuses.

@Samcro This is what I don’t understand, if I had neutral feelings towards an unpopular celebrity who is criticised on here a lot, say for example Katie Price, I wouldn’t be a regular poster on Katie Price threads defending her, even if the volume of Katie Price threads matched Meghan and Harry’s, if someone is a fan of Harry and Meghan I understand coming onto these threads to defend them, but if you are not one or the other what’s the point?

I agree because if you say your not a fan but only defend the fans (sorry can’t think of another word) with no mention of what non fans are called it’s not very impartial

I don’t think they have done enough wrong to warrant the level of criticism they are receiving either so I agree with Samcro.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, hopefully you can understand RandyRedHumpback that it can feel very uncomfortable if you are posting a minority pov and then ten or twelve posters quote you and tell you you are wrong, one by one. Many of them repeating the same, or similar things. It gets a bit full on!

And when this happens, posters can get defensive.

I admit to using fairly emphatic terms early on in this thread.

(They were directed collectively though not to an individual poster.)

At the risk of sounding too Miss Jean Brodie, I think there is fault on both sides.

Katie price for instance does not have pretty much a whole topic full of 100s of threads bashing every thing she does.

@Samcro if you don’t like being called a fan/stan/ Sussex squad imagine what it’s like for us regular posters, who amongst many other things are often called racists, bigots, unhinged, obsessed, prejudiced. I can’t think of any regular poster who have called you any equivalent names like that at all, I don’t think being called a fan or stan is in anyway the same as being called a racist bigot.

As I said in my post even if she did have her own Katie Price section full of threads I would just scroll on by as I don’t have any particular feelings towards her (as an example) one way or the other, why would I waste my time on someone who I have no particular opinion on?
