Would anyone like to join me in my attempt to unite the board and discuss our favourite royal outfits (before it enviably turns into another bun fight 🤣)

I’ll start with my favourite Catherine outfits first…

I LOVE the colour of Kate’s suit, it’s one of my favourite colours actually. Olivey moss. Gorgeous.

🤣🤣🤣 Anyho I’ve trespassed on the good ladies on this thread long enough!
it appears I’m being summoned back to more familiar waters!

I love Catherine’s suit and am pleased to see her looking healthy.
I did read someone on Twitter saying C is wearing VB as a dig at M 🤦‍♀️

BemusedAmerican · 13/05/2025 18:30

I like the green - it is the type that looks better when you see it in person. I would have worn deep violet or purple for the shirt and not white. I do think the ruffled blouse with the blazer gives a sort of 18th century effect, which I find attractive.

People on the internet are bananas. The Sussex fans are also saying that Kate (who wore tailored monochrome trouser suits for probably 70% of her engagements in 2023) was totally copying this look from Meghan a week or so ago. Erm, seems unlikely?

That has to be one of Meghan’s worst outfit above

Not2identifying · 13/05/2025 19:12

I like the suit except for the trouser length (too long) and the colour (in the sun). Don't like the shirt. And I didn't like that video she released yesterday about 'spring' - way too word salady.

Those outfits look nothing alike, beyond being trousers, shirt, and jacket. The colour, the fit, the style of blouse, are all totally different

Absolutely. And the Princess’ fits her properly 🤪

I love the outfit. The patch pockets on the high-waisted trousers are fab. And the colour is great too. Plus the ruffled shirt. Can you imagine how this look would have fallen flat if she’d worn a white scoop neck tee underneath? She looks like she’s raided Cate Blanchette’s wardrobe, and I am here for it.😀

Agree 💯 with this. I love it. The tailoring is absolutely spot on - I've seen a few clips of her walking in it and the length (for this style of trouser) is perfect. I'm not normally a fan of ruffles, but I think it was needed with this look.

I do love the colour - it's very "now".

Just a perfectly tailored women's trousers suit. The fit is just totally spot on.

Fashion is all subjective, but it's nice to see what everyone's opinion is. It's been very boring if we all liked the same things.

CurlewKate · 13/05/2025 21:21

I don’t like Catherine’s-I think it’s dull and too tailored. I would like Meghan's if the trousers were a little closer cut and shorter. But they are completely different “vibes”. I don’t think either of them look what I bet the cost!

upinaballoon · 13/05/2025 21:32

CodandChipz · 13/05/2025 14:42

I came on as I just saw it. I like the colour, can’t see the shirt. As usual fit looks great.

Now I can see the shade of green. I like it. I think the colour looks good with her hair colour and her complexion. I like the blouse, too. I'm not a fashion officianado.

I agree with you both.

Having watched some footage of the event (QEII Fashion Awards), I think it was a clever outfit for the event. Classic tailoring with enough of a twist in the colour and slightly ruffled shirt (nothing like Austin Powers 🙄) to add a high fashion look to it; but not to the extent that she's overshadowing the work of the designers that is being showcased and that she's there to highlight, not to compete with. Nicely done.

deeahgwitch · 14/05/2025 09:31

I agree with you @CurlewKate neither outfit looks what they actually cost.
Daft.

bluegreygreen · 15/05/2025 16:55

Found this interesting - as someone who doesn't know much (or anything really) about the fashion industry and the value to brands of being worn by royalty

bluegreygreen · 15/05/2025 17:18

Sorry should have said for people who don't like clicking anonymous links - it's an archived link to a piece by the Times fashion editor yesterday.

RandyRedHumpback · 15/05/2025 18:06

Thanks for the article @bluegreygreen . Good to see the British fashion industry still gets a big boost from Catherine's outfits.

BasiliskStare · 15/05/2025 19:13

Now I liked Meghan's wide leg linen trousers - except for - They didn't fit her well , too long (is it not a rule than you have one break in your trousers above the shoes or is that just men ? even so a practical rule I think ) I have some M&S linen mix wide legged trousers in navy and in white and they are great . I would love the old money beige but a sort of light caramel is the nearest they have so I might order those when they get their website sorted out. . Also they have the advantage of being £27.50 rather than $1900 which is more to my budget. 😊

Oh and just to say to @CathyandClare - thank you for posting the bows. I am going to get one. Flat blow - v 80s but I am of an age where if I like it I don't care what anyone else thinks. I might disagree with you on whether we should be a republic , but I do agree that given how the RF live with some tax payers' money we are allowed to comment. 😂💃(insert bow little picture of your choice - I can't find one)

NewAgeNewMe · 16/05/2025 06:34

@BasiliskStare The M&S linen trousers are a bargain at £27.50. I’ve also bought a bright blue which is a bit different for me!

CodandChipz · 20/05/2025 18:48

Pic from garden party today of Catherine. Saw another photo where it was much more yellow.

I liked Camilla's dress at Chelsea yesterday. It looked cool and comfortable, and blended in rather than distracting attention from the gardens.

She always seems happy to turn up when I'm sure she would be rather sitting with her feet up on many occasions. 😊 Good for her.

User57713 · 20/05/2025 20:13

I always say I'd hate to be Queen but I maybe wouldn't mind it if I came to it later like Camilla, with my kids already raised out of the limelight. She and Charles always look like they're enjoying themselves when they're out together. I can think of worse retirements than being the Queen.

As consort, she doesn't have all the constitutional stuff to do. And as an older woman she doesn't have to worry about carving out a role, as Philip had to when he became consort as a youngish man, And also as an older woman, she doesn't have to worry so much about fashion; she can decide on her own style and stick to it.
