The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

Why is it William is referred to as "shirking" because he wants to be more involved in his family than previous royals, but if a "non-royal" dad is a "family man" they are applauded?

I suppose the public is in the position of the work collegues in a way. I’m not sure work collegues applaud family men in their office? DH’s don’t! 🤣

I wonder if William is being given some leeway because everyone is nervous that he may become King sooner than expected. His children are still so young and Charles getting cancer must have come as a terrible blow for him and his family. Charles hasn’t said that he is cancer free (as Kate did) and it appears that he is still being treated. So “the firm” may be bracing for him becoming King.

Good point.

William will be king in next 5-10 years at the most if I was betting woman.

Or maybe he just didn’t want to be with Andrew. No one really knows. Or maybe he had the squits or some such.

First year I’ve missed any Easter services as have had a chest infection.

With all the help they have it is shirking. He isn't having to manage his diary, make calls, plan things. He has staff to do all that for him. He literally has to read some info given to him or be breifed, get dressed and turn up to an event. It's hardly working 9-5 every day.

He is what in his forties and all the well he will work once he is Kong. Who here gets to 40 and manages to not have worked much ...his subjects have to work all their lives and manage raising a family at the aamr time, dela with any illnesses and death that come along all whilst working.

If they don't want to do it please hand back the sovereign grant, open up all the houses for tourism etc and go live off your duchy money which is what almost £20m a yr. That's more than enough.

HufflebuffsAreOn · 21/04/2025 08:11

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 21/04/2025 08:04

Do you know this? Live in their house do you?

It was your imaginary scenario.

IF there was norovirus in William’s house (and there is no suggestion there was) he still could have gone to church and stayed away from his father.

It’s always an excuse for the Waleses. Always the kids being ill blah, blah, blah. They never seem to be ill on their holidays.

Male partners who stay at home once dc are in school & do little work don't tend to get applauded on here? Even more so if there are nanny's etc.

You can be an involved father while still working - and there are things they could even do as a family to prepare the children for royal life. E.g. he and George could do a Welsh language summer school together.

She does have money now though - she bought a place?

She does not have enough resources to fund the lifestyle she wants. Buying an abode means nothing.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 08:14

I just don't like the narrative that W&K are just like every other young family. Look at them on an Easyjet flight, Look at Kate rewearing a coat. Give me a break but so many do seem to lap it up.

I don't think William wants to be King tbh.

Who could blame him? Honestly, it’s a massive massive burden. He knows his son will have to take it on after him also. What a poisoned chalice. The whole notion of monarchy is totally outdated.

Ah, but did they pre-book their seats or did the entitled so-and-sos expect others to move so they could sit next to their DC? 😃

Edited

So she wants an extravagant lifestyle she can’t afford? Or dear. Perhaps she could downgrade her expectations and live a simpler life without hanging onto the coattails of her disgraceful ex husband and his family.

Just short of £24 million actually. And it is considered a private income. @Spectre8

This is how rumours start. The Wales's have got Norovirus!

No. They just decided they didn't want to go, I imagine.

Don’t blame him tbh. I wouldn’t want it. Don’t many who would.

EdithBond · 21/04/2025 08:19

Loves hobnobbing with the Royals?

Shacked up with Andy to save cash and gain security/staff? Lots of exes live together for financial/family reasons. Expect she has her own wing.

But they really don't have to, they could easily step down. I suspect he might.

Poor, I agree. It's the Christian festival of the year. Three holidays already as well. If William has no belief in God or Jesus at all, it's going go be tricky for him when he becomes head of the Church of England.

Yup. Not good. Easter is the most important festival of the Christian calendar and as future head of the Church of England he should have been there. And I say that as someone who usually defends his decision to focus on family while he can.

SF, don’t care.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 21/04/2025 08:22

She keeps gate crashing through Beatrice and Eugenie ala The Windsors?

I don’t get it either. Are they a couple? Are they not? Friends with benefits? Is she blackmailing him. It’s all very odd.

Extiainoiapeial · 21/04/2025 08:22

I don't think W will step down. Because it would be a major constitutional crisis. I just think the family is priming the public slowly bit by bit as to what to expect when he becomes king.
And that is, don't expect to see us much. I think they will attend the state occasions they cannot get out of but anything else, no

He went to church in Scotland apparently.

And really, so few people care about the head of the established church guff. It’s even more outdated than the monarchy itself and that’s saying something.

Radra · 21/04/2025 08:25

If it's such a huge burden, it seems a bit awful that William wouldn't want to support his elderly father with cancer with it a bit more

To be fair there is precedence for Princes of Wales not attending the public Easter service. Charles didn’t attend 18 years in a row before the late Queen died. It doesn’t seem to have affected his reputation as the Head of the Church of England 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes it is a massive burden. I cannot imagine William in the future doing what Charles has been doing this last year or two
I just don't think he will. And yes he should be supporting his father more at this stage

Charles went to church in Scotland.

Not really sure why everyone is saying if it was ok by Charles to miss it, it’s ok for William anyway. There’s lots of things Charles did I wouldn’t want William to repeat.
