The royal family

Why is Sarah Ferguson at the Easter service?

I am really perplexed about why SF attends all Royal events since the death of the Queen when Andrew
is present. She behaves like his wife but she isn’t his wife. What on earth is going on? I cannot think of another situation like this where an ex wife lives with her ex husband and attends all public events with him as though they are still married. It’s bizarre.

Yes, I'm sure he was watching the kids, cooking tea, doing the dishes and cleaning the house. Life must be exhausting for him. Did you miss the point that he's the future King and head of Church? 🤨

Is that your reason for not going to church? If you didn't go, why do you care?

Did you miss the point that the current King and Head of the Church used to give the Windsor service a miss regularly?

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 07:13

FWIW, if Andrew wants to go to church, none of my business, he can do what he wants. But… it is not a good look for the royal family to be seen with him in my view. He is despicable.

He's fine because remember he didn't talk bad about the RF.!

But how much work did he do the rest of the year?

Since Charles is old & has cancer I would have expected his son to step up tbh.

@Radra AIBU to find skiing pretty exhausting! 😆

Perhaps he has been supporting his wife with cancer, and his children whose mother has had cancer.

Charles and Camilla used to spend Easter in Scotland and were regularly photographed attending Easter Sunday service at their church in Scotland.

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 07:22

Just going round in circles now. How does attending a church service mean you aren't supporting your wife?

It's fascinating how some are such ardent sycophants that they cannot accept anything other than what the PR machine says.

I think she's his minder, make sure his eyes and hands don't wander when the press is around.

This.
Also A trusts her. They are best friends. It’s what one wants from a long term relationship I guess. It’s more successful than most marriages you see on here!

sofasoda · 21/04/2025 07:23

cancer, and his children whose mother has had cancer.

Bravo, cancer in there twice. Did Kate have cancer, I have forgotten.

HufflebuffsAreOn · 21/04/2025 07:24

@Nominativebut she doesn’t have cancer anymore and seems to be doing well. He’d be better teaching his kids about duty and work ethic if he wants to do well by them.

scalt · 21/04/2025 07:26

Because Adrian Mole is not with her, to persuade her of what he sees as the non-existence of God.

(Those with long memories will remember that in the book True Confessions of Adrian Mole, he falls in love with Sarah just before she marries Prince Andrew, and tries to woo her with intellectual chit chat, and his unsullied body which is years younger than Andrew's.)

I'm not Christian or Catholic etc, so no I didn't go to Church. How very presumptuous of you. I think KC has always been a hard worker, that's why he doesn't get the flak that workshy William does. HTH.

Maybe they've learned from Diana that ostracising ex-wives who are the mothers of members of the Royal Family makes them look like shitheads if things go tits up?

I heard they wanted the girls to suffer as little as possible from the divorce.

Thus, because there was the possibility of living in the same home and keeping out of each others hair, they did that.

I think it sounds practical and, up until the later developments with the allegations, the girls did come across as largely unaffected by the split or what their parents were up to. They seem nice, level-headed girls. Beatrice in particular seems very sweet.

In short, I think they tried to put their girls first. I note neither remarried.

She has no money.

She now has loads, I gather she's a successful author? I think she has a house in Notting hill too, always wondered why she doesn't live there....except it seems obvious they are still a 'thing'. Guess keeping it unofficial takes some pressure off her?

Poor, I agree. It's the Christian festival of the year. Three holidays already as well. If William has no belief in God or Jesus at all, it's going go be tricky for him when he becomes head of the Church of England.

Or maybe he went elsewhere with his family, more quiet and private, after a very difficult year?

Maybe someone wasn't well? Him, his wife, one of his kids?

Also, Christmas is probably the Christian festival of the year...

And when you say “ a thing” , I’d note they aren’t young anymore. Plenty of older couples are happily together and the companionship is the glue. Not all relationships at their ages require copious shagging …

they will release photos if so

Bedknobsandhoovers · 21/04/2025 07:38

This….
”It’s the Royal Family. They make it up as they go along ”

and the last bit of this….
”Because she and Andrew live together, so the kind thing to do is to invite her with him. I think it's quite sweet that the King and Queen want to include her. They are probably hugely grateful that she sticks around to support her ex, tbh.”

The family are as strange, perplexing, and dysfunctional as many other families here on Mumsnet.

True dat!

NewAgeNewMe · 21/04/2025 07:41

I’ve always thought they are a couple even after the divorce. Like a distant aunt and uncle of mine. Divorced several years ago but now Back living together but can’t be assed to remarry.

HufflebuffsAreOn · 21/04/2025 07:43

@IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos pretty sure Easter is the biggest Christian celebration.

If my child was ill, it didn’t take both me and my husband to look after them, and we had no staff. Honestly, the excuses made for the work-shy Waleses are never-ending.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/04/2025 22:50

I am more bothered that William, who will be the next head of the Church, couldn’t be arsed showing up in one of the major religious festivals.

I doubt that even 5% of the population cares or expects him to continue to follow the dictats of a megalomaniac who died nearly 500 years ago, if he has no personal faith.

No it isn't..Easter Sunday is the most important day in the Christian calendar.

I think Christmas tends to be less uniquely Christian. There are a lot more people who don’t “do” Easter. Also I seem to think that from a scriptural point of view, Easter is seen as more significant.

A couple of weeks ago we had noro hit the house. I and DD were both bad, DH was not.

I'll send him to church next time, spread the love.
