generally acting like some entitled, arrogant medieval prince?

Both hideous but Willy's the one with the financially obscure feudal inheritance and no stated intention of shedding light on the mechanics.

No. Just look at Harry's behaviour.
Has William been on Oprah trashing his family? Made millions from selling private details about Harry's life? Said Harry was a racist? Gone on unofficial quasi royal tours? Made a Netflix series complaining about his life and lying about Harry? ....
Quite different approaches from both men, I would suggest. Harry is without morals, sense or integrity.
That man would sell anything about his own brother. For money.

I think it’s ok to work part-time until you drop, rather than full-time until you retire.

Willy wasn't even 'part-time' whatever that means until some seven or so years ago. There's always been an excuse as to why he's had a pass and now it's school runs and stay at home dadding.

He's just as much of a grifter and grasper as his reviled bro but inexplicably gets the breaks.

And as I always point out he's as free as any of them to shake the shackles...

He’s as much of a grifter as any King-in-waiting anyway. That’ll be the case for as long as the country has a monarchy. It’s not working down the mines or farming or brain surgery, I think we can all agree on that.

In reality, he probably works 5-6 hours a day, with lots of help, no real work stresses other than at specific points (and for which he’ll have many advisors). He’ll be a show pony all his life. His family is his job. He’ll have restricted freedom of movement and all sorts of things we probably don’t even know about (health, security, appearance, education, career while waiting, choice of spouse, friendships kept etc etc). He’ll probably have to do various evening and weekend events that he can’t get out of, Christmas stuff each year. Not as much work or stress as a social worker or teacher; more demanding than running your dad’s already-set-up business which can’t fail. He can’t fail, as it’ll be there forever in every history book going forward. Unique, really. His comparator will be doing nothing at all, or dabbling like his aristo friends.

Samcro · 19/04/2025 21:27

@Enoughisenough689 I do agree and also hope that William realises how”lucky “ (I use that word as can’t think of another, obviously he isn’t lucky that his wife got I’ll) in being able to take so much time off.
im not going to share my personal story. But my dear dad did not get that opportunity. Most people don’t.

i personally like Camila , she visited my child’s sn school and was lovely.
I also do not judge her or Charles about the tampon stuff. That was a private conversation between adults that we should not know about.

Why do you think I meant Philip was in line for the throne? I meant he was there as consort to take on duties. Like Camilla does 🤪

sorry linked to wrong post

I don't think anyone could have described the king as a "grifter" when he was in waiting. He consistently performed high numbers of engagements every year.

I wouldn't want any of the restrictions that come with the role, including being the subject of endless criticism towards him, his family, his children, for all of their lives. Do you really think it's a stress free life? I don't! Having to show up, talk with a degree of knowledge on any given subject, endlessly meet and greet and be on in the public eye? No thanks.

NewAgeNewMe · 19/04/2025 22:28

I think William’s MH must have taken a battering these last few years. Both his dad and his wife had cancer at the same time, there was the awful where is Kate stuff, he is estranged from his brother (whatever the rights and wrongs) and he’s probably looking at being king earlier than anticipated. Can’t be easy. It’s not working down the mines but not many of us do that (well no one I know anyway!).

Plus losing both of his grandparents within a fairly short time.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 19/04/2025 22:41

He’s going to be working until he’s on his deathbed, literally. He will want to follow his grandmother’s example, and will want to model that for his grandchildren

I’m not so sure that he will follow this model, I think when William takes over he is going to shake things up a bit, I think William sees being King as more as a job than a destiny, I think he will do his stint and then, like Queen Margrethe will abdicate in favour of George, setting a new precedent that it’s not a lifetime gig. I think his Coronation will be a more ‘registry office’ version and much pared down (this will upset me as in my opinion even the Coronation of King Charles was too informal for me!) 😂 .

I'm not sure - he will have been heavily influenced by his grandmother, though I think William is quite pragmatic.

It's sad to think of anyone working until they're 96, and literally two days before they died!

Samcro · 20/04/2025 11:09

no one has to work that long, it was a choice she made. she could have stood aside years before.

So Andrew and Sarah who was dropping curtseys and grinning a lot, were both trotting along with the Royals into the Easter Sunday church service. Andrew will grab any opportunity won't he...
It was said he wouldn't attend because of the chinese spy furore.. obviously that didn't worry him!

I know posters will say, it's his family, it's a church service etc. But he doesn't have to go to that particular church service and he could join his family later. But they both have brass neck don't they...

vera99 · 20/04/2025 11:21

Like Russell Brand he is using Easter to try and polish his non-existent halo but a least he turned unlike the Wales.

All the focus on H & M - where's the outrage against Andrew? (Season 2)
jeffgoldblum · 20/04/2025 11:21

Shameless! Tulip

vera99 · 20/04/2025 11:27

Interestingly the Telegraph comments on the Easter service (which you have to subscribe to and pay real money in order to do so unlike say the Mail) have turned on King Charles with his support for all faiths. Or at least the first comments have.

I wouldn't say that they attract a better class of reader especially when you read those Islamophobic comments you have posted.

I know! Oh my god. That nasty slur that Charles should be going to a mosque!
Charles tries to be a bit inclusive and the bigots in the Telegraph have to go down that path.
How vile.
I respect him even more now.

I am wondering wheher the Wales decision not to turn up could be linked to the preesence of Andrew and Sarah. There has been criticism, including here, of William driving him and allowing himself to be photographed with Andrew. Is it possible that thos time he decided to stay away?

It's got worse they are upto 47 comments and around 90% of that ilk - if the Monarch has lost the Torygraph then things must be pretty bad. As instant vox pop's go it's as good as any to test the state of the nation and all the more reason for the toxic campign of but "Hey Meghan2 which the Mail tirelessly majors on.

I must admit I raised an eyebrow to the relevance of posting a Russell brand tweet !
I decided to ignore it.
