The royal family

Harry and RAVEC - claims he was trapped by RF

1000 replies

smilesy · 11/04/2025 19:04

Okay. So first of all thanks to everyone on the last thread for a really civilised discussion about Harry and his security. The Telegraph has an exclusive article where Harry claims that his security was removed to “trap” him in the RF. I’m really sorry but for some reason I am unable to archive Telegraph articles at the moment. Could anyone help?

One car for Meghan and three for her ego! 😂
Will they have paid for the NYPD car that accompanied the private security team? Not sure how it works in the US?

Can't realistically be done. 15 Parliaments are bot going to find time for a family squabble they are busy enough as they are;

Great question — and it’s one that taps into both constitutional law and the weird quirks of monarchy. Here’s how it would (and wouldn’t) work:
🧬 Can King Charles just remove Harry and his kids from the line of succession?
No — not on his own. The King doesn't have the power to unilaterally change the line of succession. This isn't Game of Thrones — it's UK constitutional monarchy territory.
🏛️ So how could it happen?
It would require an Act of Parliament. Here's the process:

  1. Draft Legislation: A bill would need to be introduced — probably called something like the Succession Reform Act or similar.
  2. Pass in Parliament: It would need to pass both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
  3. Royal Assent: Ironically, King Charles would then have to give royal assent to the very law that removes his own son and grandchildren from the succession.
⚠️ This would be politically explosive. It would raise constitutional questions, set a modern precedent, and potentially cause major public backlash — depending on why it was being done. 🌐 And because the monarchy is a Commonwealth institution… The UK can’t act alone. Under the Perth Agreement (2011), all 15 realms that share the British monarch — like Australia, Canada, New Zealand — would have to agree and pass equivalent laws to change the rules of succession. So... it’s a bureaucratic nightmare. 👶 Why it’s tricky with Harry’s kids: Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are:
  • Born into the line under the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, which removed gender bias and updated marriage rules.
  • Still eligible because Harry hasn’t renounced his place or been removed by law.
So unless Parliament passes a very specific law removing them by name (which would look very petty and targeted), they stay in line — even if they never take up royal duties. 🧨 Bottom line:
  • Charles can’t do it himself.
  • Parliament could, but it would be a huge deal.
  • And Harry & co. staying in the line, even symbolically, is part of what keeps the pot boiling for critics.

I was wondering why your posts are hard to follow sometimes. the layout of this one confirms you are using ChatGPT 🤣

It's ChatGPT so I assume it's correct.

Sorry you admitted to it. Have you not seen the quote "it's marvellous how ChatGPT knows everything about what I don't know, but is only 40% correct about the things I dot know"

HonoriaBulstrode · 12/04/2025 13:10

The late Queen probably didn’t appreciate this as she was around when travel was much more precarious. I appreciate what Bemused said about helicopters, so maybe this is one area they should think about

The late Queen was known to dislike helicopters, though she would use one when advised that it was necessary. (And when accompanied by James Bond.😁)

Nearer to home than the recent Hudson River crash was the one at Leicester FC a few years ago. (I don't like Gary Lineker, but I felt for him having to go on and present MOTD that evening.)

You can't hire on duty cops. Lots of cops work off duty in security jobs for more money. Two cops were probably asigned babysitting dutyy and told to watch them and make sure they didn't make any ill-advised moves.

I wonder if they were trying to make a
point that they “rilly rilly” need security 🤔

Thanks @BemusedAmerican. That’s interesting, so it sounds like she had both private and publicly funded security which is completely OTT! 🙄

@smilesy I completely agree with you, this was a point being made one way or another.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/04/2025 13:35

We have heard nothing at all about any new evidence being considered - not pre-appeal or as a housekeeping matter at the start of the appeal hearing

It’s therefore not very likely that anything new was discussed in the confidential part of the hearing that hadn’t already been raised in the first hearing. I suspect Harry is relying on the secrecy to suggest something sinister is going on. His usual attempt to spin, basically

I suppose that might be considered good news in a way, @Serenster, in that if nothing new was submitted there's nothing fresh for him to blab about?

I doubt it would stop him downright inventing something if he thought there was any advantage, or even claiming there was some "important new evidence they wouldn't let him add", but since few with sense take his word for things these days that hardly seems to matter

Is the phrase ‘swords down’ an actual quote? If so it’s very childish and overlooks the fact the other side has refused to engage.

Yes it is.

Seemingly they have 'dropped the rope' a long time ago - and it frustrates him that he has no one to goad or unleash his narcissistic rage on.

HiRen · 12/04/2025 13:36

Harry equating “consequences” with “punishment” is like a teen wailing that if they spend their allowance on their mobile contract they won’t have enough left for fun stuff. To then go so far as to extrapolate that this “punishment” was a deliberate ploy to keep him and MM (hahaha) inside the RF isn’t paranoia or a sign of mental ill health. It’s an indication of exactly HOW spoilt and entitled he is, how little he’s ever been told no.

His father and brother get the security they get because of the positions they hold, not because they’re extra-special humans. They’re cortical to the stability of the country, in the same way a serving PM is. Ex-PMs get security because of the harm they necessarily inflict on people while carrying out their duties, be it declaring war or cutting benefits and closing down industries.

To openly threaten spilling the beans if he doesn’t get what he wants is just ugly and beyond, at that point, merely pathetic. It’s vindictive, stupid, dangerous, self-defeating and wholly pointless.

He’s just an ignorant and immature spoilt brat who’s having to grapple with his actions having consequences that he himself will have to deal with. Lord only knows how he’s raising his children.

As for MM’s appearance in NYC: setting aside the motorcade (I live in the city, that performance is beyond 🙄 - seriously/honestly, who does she think she is?), seems she hitched a private jet ride with the Paramount couple and made an appearance backstage (didn’t watch the show) with the lead actress who’s previously on record as being a major MM fan. After the battering she’s had over WLM, As Ever, the podcast, she obviously needed someone and something to tell her she’s still amazing. She flew 5.5 hours for that.

They’re both a joke. Terrible, awful jokes.

I am completely convinced that the whole “near catastrophe” was staged in some way. The not wearing seat belts, the paps and the car chase were all to Dianaesque to be a coincidence

Of course it was staged. Only the few believe otherwise

True, @HiRen, but then so is the thing about the media court cases being important, but that this is the thing that always really, really mattered to him

A bit like a teen who absolutely had to have those tickets or that shirt because they matter SO much, then instantly moves on to wanting different ones

Harry seems to think that on demand taxpayer security is some kind of 'reward'.

It isn't. It's a scarce resource only allocated to individuals whose safety is considered important for national security. It's nothing to do with being 'special' or being a decent person. Harry is the son of the King so he's not just anybody, but nor is he of any real importance to the nation. His very generous bespoke security arrangements reflect that.

He also seems incapable of understanding that being famous does not mean you can't also be a private citizen. Harry is both. He is certainly famous, but he has no official role, which means he can be a CHIMPO for a life coaching app and pretend to produce crap shows for Netflix. Even allowing for his sheltered upbringing, his lack of world knowledge is appalling. Just like his mother.

No way will Parliament touch this — absolutely no way. It’s meddling with the plumbing of an archaic institution, and fiddling with it will only cause the whole dumpster fire to flare up again.

And the titles? They don’t really matter. Harry and co. will still exist — and that’s the real problem for some people.

It wouldn't be a problem if he could grow up and shut his mouth!

We don't know that. May be his PA or his brother (ex brother) wrote to Ravec to deny him protection? Who knows. As he said it shocked him. May be he will write this in the second book.
I just can't believe Charles continuing to not reconcile despite his cancer which surely must bring mortality in perspective? Does he not want to know his other grandkids? It all seems so hateful. I really don't feel what H said in interviews or books is so unforgivable. Not by a parent. Sad all around

How do you or any of the other posters who claim outrage about Charles perceived lack of reconciliation efforts know that he hasn't tried to reconcile and make amends for the perceived slights H is so hung up about?

The palace are not going to be releasing that kind of information cause it all relates to private matters so it must be coming from a source who has previously admitted that their "truth" is sketchy at best the Queen Mother's death being a case in point.

HiRen · 12/04/2025 14:20

Agree with you both @Puzzledandpissedoffand @IcedPurple.

And just quickly jumping back on to say that her shopmy page on her Instagram ALREADY has links to the clothes she wore to the Broadway show, the houndstooth skirt and black shirt.

This is EXACTLY what she wanted to do when she was a Royal, openly said as much. She knows she gets clicks, she knows people look at what she wears, always hated that other people made money off her “advertising” various clothes by wearing them and wanted the money to go straight to her.

All that talk of you can be better than a princess, you can build the world you want yourself? Well she’s doing it. Gotta hand it to her. On some level she’s succeeding!

ButterCrackers · 12/04/2025 14:25

Because of the Oprah interview I believe nothing these two say. It seems that they want tax payers to fund their jaunts with lots of big important cars and bodyguards with guns. The consequences of leaving the working royals is like losing the salary and perks when you leave a job. I’m going to leave my job - ok you’ll have to give back the tech and company car - what you’re threatening me and trying to control me.

HonoriaBulstrode · 12/04/2025 11:50

I don't think much of this is on Meghan.

Not the court cases, but the racism allegations were all her, and she linked that to the question of titles and security.

I think one of H's problems is that having cut himself off from the family and old friends, there is no-one to say to him 'look, mate, you're being a twat'.

Well William (and some of his friends) appear to have tried to do that, and look how well that went!

Mistyglade · 12/04/2025 12:11

This is the most informative and helpful H&M thread I’ve read. H is consumed with his perception of his positions unfairness. KC has got on with his life with Camilla and PW continues his conventional road to the throne. Harry is blinded with traumatic confusion partly due to his mother’s death which he obsessively puts at the the British media’s door. Meghan doesn’t understand how the monarchy works. It all very sad.

Edited

Meghan never wanted to understand. She seems to think she's above them and wanted to show them all how she could do royalling better! I don't know how someone basically 'normal' acquired such delusions about herself!

HonoriaBulstrode · 12/04/2025 14:39

her shopmy page on her Instagram ALREADY has links to the clothes she wore to the Broadway show, the houndstooth skirt and black shirt.

So the whole trip, complete with motorcade to make sure it was widely reported, was just to plug her online shop? Tacky, crass and classless.

This is EXACTLY what she wanted to do when she was a Royal, openly said as much.

And exactly why the late Queen said no to half in, half out. The more we see of these two, the more we see how right she was.

Harry's Ukraine trip, ill advised though it undoubtedly was, at least wasn't all about self promotion.

She's basing her life and perceptions of being a royal on Disney. Not reality. Although she's messed up as she managed (as has been said many times before) to turn the prince into a frog.

Of course it was. It was to tie up with his security court case to demonstrate what terribly important global ambassador he is in the thick of a war zone in the heightened moments when Putin and Trump are 'negotiating'...... to ensure the world, the courts and his father could see he was an IPP.

And it would put it past them that his 'attire' ends up on MM page if there is $$$ to be made.

Maybe they will do a "Go Fund Me" for their security required togad about to awards ceremonies.

AnneElliott · 12/04/2025 14:56

Why do you think that @vera99? It’s impractical for lots of reasons to supply security abroad. Not just the cost but the impact on the Met RVIP teams who aren’t that large and have to provide security for quite a few people. The same rules would apply to Boris as they do to everyone else.
