Strangely she seems to have pulled the interview, almost as if she is embarrassed about it!

Baital · 04/04/2025 19:02

Her girls school in South Africa is as much a vanity project as anything else. Cherry picking talented girls, like any other private school.

One of DD1's uni friends went there. It's a good school, but like most pupils DD's friend is from a middle class family, her parents are civil servants. If she hadn't got a free place at Oprah's school she wouldn't have received a substandard education in a township school. They would have paid for another private school.

I don’t agree with this viewpoint. People are happy to give / donate / support whichever cause they believe in. If it’s bright young girls in Southern Africa who can go on to be the next generation of leaders, so be it. Pretty sure she sees herself in these girls, and women like SC. Otherwise I’d query any donkey sanctuary because surely humans are more important?

But (Oprah) had time to edit the "unscripted" interview and do some fact checking, and MM wasn't writing the tickertape headline feed

This is true, @Rhaidimiddim, so I guess all that's left is the $$$$ involved - as if she needs it Hmm

🤷‍♀️ It was light entertainment. On par with Tom Cruise jumping up and down in her sofa re Katie Holmes. It wasn’t ever meant to be forensic journalism. TC’s marriage turned out to be a Scientology-based sham. Meghan’s and Harry’s interview also turned out to be based of falsehoods and a cultish sham. This wasn’t like Emily Maitlis interviewing Andrew. Only M&H took it that seriously. If they wanted to “perjure” themselves, who was Oprah to stand in their way and not earn more $$$ while she was at it!

Anyway, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. M&H have since gone on to far worse.

Can you imagine if one of Princess Catherine’s close friends or close confidant had posted something like this online?
The Sussexes are really showing their true colours this week!

Wow, "OUR light" I guess that confirms he is one of the vicious Sussex Squad.

Mylovelygreendress · 04/04/2025 19:02

Harry himself admitted he never thought he would lose his security and he seemed to have been blindsided that Pa cut off his funding .
He seems to have believed he could swan off but keep the perks.

Yet more evidence of the damage done by his privileged upbringing, and of Meghan's ignorance. It s beyond me to understand how anyone could move to another country, without a job, and not consider how they were going to fund their lifestyle.

Well, like any other private school it will give further privilege to already privileged girls.

If that's what she wants, then of course she is welcome to do that.

It isn't having any significant impact on 99.9% of South African girls, or developing female leadership. Because those girls would simply go to other private schools where they would get an equally good education.

It is saving some well off middle class families some money. It has zero impact on all the bright girls who are being failed by the state schools.

Baital · 04/04/2025 19:32

DD's friend had a great time. It is a lovely school. But made no difference to her life, if she hadn't got a place there she would have gone to another private school that would probably have been equally lovely and supportive. She would have built the same skills.

Dinglydelll · 04/04/2025 19:39

Lunde · 04/04/2025 17:20

It think that the issue with Meghan is that she bait and switched after the wedding. Harry seemed to think that he was marrying a woman who loved the same things as him - visiting Africa, camping in Botswana, doing lots of charity work for good causes (OK with others doing the hard bits) .... But the reality was that she wanted the billionaire, LA celebrity, merching lifestyle - so that's where he ended up.

Classic narc - mirroring and love-bombing to catch their prey.

Can anyon remember the nugget from Lainy Gossip in summer 2016 about MM - it was something about maybe switching things up to become a philanthropist? Someone mentioned it a few months back and it was very revealing.

Lunde · 04/04/2025 19:39

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 04/04/2025 17:49

Maybe so, but combined with all the stuff you listed that Harry has lost (even if it was willingly given up at the time) it still makes for a really unhealthy dynamic. For both of them. And personally not one that I can see getting better as time goes on (and in case any stray Sussex Squadders are lurking then no, I'm not bloody wishing that on them).

Personally I think both of them have arrested development at tween level - Harry clearly at 12/13 when his mother died - didn't Meghan's mother also disappear for a few years when she was a similar age? 11 or 12?

I think the lack of maturity makes them a toxic couple as they seem to bring out the worst in each other and somehow egg each other on that they are the world's greatest power couple.

Privileged upbringing indeed and the support from the men in grey that Harry was too dim to realise was actually enabling him to do all his 'work' .

And also that everyone else is jealous and/or against them. As you say it's a terribly toxic combination.

I realise that, @Onlyonekenobe, though god knows to see some of the reactions on here you'd have thought the claims were delivered on tablets of stone

But even with light entertainment some manage not to insult the audience's intelligence quite so thoroughly ...

Hmm interesting. Surely that first interview would be the jewel in any journalists crown. Wonder why she doesn't want to showcase that 🤔.

Well, plus you would think such a popular show would continue to be available somewhere for re-viewing. On one streaming channel or another, bringing in money. Not YouTube for free! But... somewhere?

It would presumably be lucrative as well. Why would a business woman not make money from their product?

Unless embarrassed about it?

To quote the lady herself, it begs the question, is Oprah Silent or is she Silenced...

She still.has $$$ but her reputation is damaged, in the Salty Isle at least.

And SEO will forever link her with MM.

But it did damage. To a whole country and its Head of State. She needs to own that.

If one of our more contoversial comedians were to imply that, in a country that has more guns that people, the Trump problem could be easily solved, I don't think we'd be all, oh, it's " just light entertainment". It was political. Very political.

Yes they are. I’m still fuming at Rebecca English’s claim that after the polo match where M was seen ordering SC around, H texted SC and asked HER to explain herself. What a fucking arrogant prick. He should have been apologising to her.

My little conspiracy theory is that the interview has been removed from easily accessible reaches of the internet at the request of the BRF for the reasons you give. Same way that photo of Kate Middleton changing out of her bikini has been scrubbed, and (apparently) compromising photos of MM pre-Harry have been scrubbed. Damaging to the BRF and the nation's best interests.

Just my theory, I could be totally wrong!
