My little conspiracy theory is that the interview has been removed from easily accessible reaches of the internet at the request of the BRF for the reasons you give. Same way that photo of Kate Middleton changing out of her bikini has been scrubbed, and (apparently) compromising photos of MM pre-Harry have been scrubbed. Damaging to the BRF and the nation's best interests.

Just my theory, I could be totally wrong!

I agree, a bit.

At the end of the interview programme, there was a statement that the Royal racist was NOT QE2 or Philip.

That narrowed the field. I think our king sent out legal warnings that got it expunged from the producer's website. Obid Scobie probably got a similar legal warning

Baital · 04/04/2025 21:16

Maybe. Why would OW care about the BRF?

Of course there may be legal challenges. OTOH maybe her willingness to accept everything MM said as gospel became an embarrassment.

Onlyonekenobe · 04/04/2025 21:22

I think in the contracts between broadcasters and licensors, there will be something about this sort of thing in the boilerplate. There will be lots of restrictions around watershed timings, porn, sexual content etc. Then there will be stuff about hate speech and whatnot. I'd imagine there will be a line about anything disparaging about the RF or the judiciary that's NOT of the whistleblower kind of programming.

The BRF is central to the reparations argument, that is central to BLM and other African American empowerment movements. I imagine she would jump at the chance to have a good old poke at the BRF.

IMHO, the Oprah interview was not done in good faith.

In the US broadcast Oprah's team deliberately misrepresented "racist" headlines from Australia, New Zealand, and the US as UK tabloid headlines. In addition, Oprah's team deliberately edited the UK tabloid headlines to be more salacious. In the UK broadcast, this whole clip featuring doctored headlines was removed.

Oprah TV special twisted headlines to make the UK press look racist

IMHO, Oprah scrubbed the interview because she did not want obvious lies and discrepancies to be easily highlighted by social media content creators.

On a separate note, C's pictures were scrubbed by the server providers as a result of the outcome of W&C's lawsuit, as the pictures violated her privacy. Same as any public figure who sues and wins...the servers will take images down.

I think Oprah’s main concern is her reputation and business. I think she knows that she didn’t get the scoop she hoped for from the Sussexes and she is going for damage
limiration. I don’t think it’s any deeper than that

The whole reparations thing didn't occur to me. Even so, why back track on the interview to the extent it isn't available anywhere? If it's a credible interview, it would support reparation claims.

I suspect it is because it hasn't turned out to be credible.

Shame on her that she didn't take the opportunity to quizz Harry on where his mum's money ( that he inherited) came from.

"Any slavery money in the Spencer annals, Harry?" She has a scion in her sights, but bailed.

Baital · 04/04/2025 22:08

Yep. Saint Diana was fully Establishment. And committed to the monarchy!

MissRoseDurward · 04/04/2025 22:10

"Any slavery money in the Spencer annals, Harry?"

As if Harry would have a clue.

But why aren't Americans looking to their own government for reparations? Americans were still engaged in the Transatlantic trade after they became independent, and still owning slaves after slavery had been abolished throughout the British Empire.

JSMill · 04/04/2025 22:14

I think OW may have been disappointed with the interview. The ‘juiciest’ revelation was that an unnamed member had at some point raised ‘concerns’ about the skin colour of a baby. I didn’t like H and M after the way they exited the RF but even I was curious to hear any RF gossip but there was nothing substantial.

He gave up everything to give Meghan the LA life she wanted

  • burned bridges with his family
  • gave up his friends and UK social life
  • gave up his job as a working royal where he was allowed to focus on his interests
  • gave up his home (I think Harry was OK with living in Notts Cottage but Meghan wanted the princess trappings)
  • gave up all of the trappings of a comfortable life to hustle in LA eg housing sorted, £2 million allowance per year, cars, security, domestic staff, clothing and probably a valet to iron them, a staffed office to do all the dull paperwork, polo ponies, daddy's lawyers on speed dial etc etc)

Now he is left following someone else's dream but has little to come back to either.

Even knowing what I now know having read many of these threads, your summary makes me feel quite sad for PH. Such a big gamble and such a waste with so much damage caused to the people who love him unconditionally.

It's pictures like these OW interview ones that remind me how beautiful she was then. What on earth has she done to her face since then? She looks completely different now. Her face has this ubiquitous, horsey, toothy, gaunt, long look about it now. Her fuller cheeks were one of her best features.

binkie163 · 04/04/2025 10:04

Oprah is as merciless as they come. She'll do whatever is in her best financial interests.
Totally irrelevant but a billionaire still chasing money making schemes is so distasteful. Never enough for some and the wannabe's like markle.
I truly don't believe harry feels any regret or guilt, he is so deluded and empty.

100%. I also don’t think he considers any criticism of him to be anything other than “Wah jealous nasty toxic media” - which is why he does things like put out kneejerk statements and have public tantrums. He believes he’s utterly right and anyone who doesn’t tow the party line is against him

If asked any probing questions, Harry would act like a cornered rat. Attack is the best form of defence and all that. Meghan would easily subdue the interviewer with an avalanche of word salad.

Yep. Look at what he did when Tom Brady asked why he accused the RF of racism. He denied it and looked absolutely furious

I am just fascinated to know if he ever for a moment acknowledges this to himself. It would be really really hard to admit that he has essentially lost everything that made his life meaningful.

Conundrumseverywhere · 05/04/2025 06:45

Also I don’t think either of them really have a happier life than they did before they met. They may have a huge mansion and two kids, but they’re isolated , burdened by worries about earning enough to pay for their lifestyle and estranged from their families apart from Doria.

NewAgeNewMe · 05/04/2025 06:50

Is there an equivalent Wales squad? I’ve seen some suggest there is?

I’ve said before like a pp that if the sexes were reversed everyone would be able to say this is emotional abuse. It’s clear as day. Ex family solicitor.

NewAgeNewMe · 05/04/2025 06:53

Also I suspect most of the royals are arrogant and think they are better than us they just maybe hide it better than Andrew and Harry. William & Edward played a blinder though by marrying 2 down to earth women.

Extraordinary. He's just got zero self reflection. Or memory..

I've only ever had a fallout with one family member (sister) and I found it physically painful. The thought of being estranged from my whole family is unthinkable.

Reports about Birmingham council's financial situation and the bin strike and so on have not been good. As things stand I don't see how they can contribute funding towards anything like Invictus, even though it's a good cause, when they don't have money to run core services. Likewise it would look terrible for central government to pay for this when they're cutting disabled people's benefits and more. It's another timing / image problem, with everything else going on, and sadly it's Invictus that will suffer.

Do you also think it's terrible that the sovereign grant will yet again get an increase whilst the government is cutting benefits?

Absolutely. There would be nothing but worry and comments about how serious it is and how upsetting rhey family must be. If it was Charlotte, a rescue mission would be announced.
