One of the problems about Meghan is that she has told so many lies , most people will just shrug .

Indeed, Mylovelygreendress, but I suppose another health claim might be hoped to be a diversion if Harry's Ravec case doesn't go as he wishes?

Lunde · 08/04/2025 11:33

So he expects to just turn up in the UK on a whim - perhaps on a private, multi-million pound Netflix contract - and have UK taxpayers foot the bill for his security?

Yep.

OR he wants to pay to hire armed police out his own pocket. He wants to use his immense wealth and privilege to take armed police off the streets where they’re supposed to be protecting the public. Based on absolutely nothing other than “People are mean to my wife”.

But does he think there is this huge pool of Royal Protection Officers - just sitting around playing Minecraft - waiting for Harry to announce he wants to pop over for a couple of days ?

Cynic17 · 08/04/2025 13:00

What Harry seemingly doesn't understand is that even if he were still a working Royal, he wouldn't necessarily get the same protection as William, because W is the Prince of Wales and next monarch. Just as Charles' siblings weren't treated the same as C when he was PoW. It's really not difficult..... surely H isn't that dim?

Uricon2 · 08/04/2025 13:01

But I thought other royals had bespoke arrangements? Princess Anne only gets security when she is attending official engagements.

As she's the only member of the RF who someone has actually attempted to take hostage at gunpoint, I'd have a bit of sympathy if she was wobbly about security. This is Anne though, so no.😂

binkie163 · 08/04/2025 13:02

If Harry as a millionaire and his dad a billionaire do not want to foot the bill why the fuck should tax payers pay it, let them take it out of the sovereign grant 😡 I miss the queen, she would have stopped this bollocks.

vera99 · 08/04/2025 13:07

Good luck Harry - go and slay those dragons and a parsimonious father who would put you at risk rather than reach into his deep taxpayer enriched pockets to protect you. Royal they maybe but a family they ain't. I blame the parent.

wordler · 08/04/2025 13:13

Beatrice and Eugenie were 5th and 6th in line to the throne when they had their automatic security removed in 2011 and had to find their own if they felt it was needed.

Aye, she would have — and she did say, half-jokingly, “Après moi, le déluge.” She wasn't wrong.

Let us not forget that Harry is the King's son. Whether or not the King chooses to support him is his prerogative — but it is for reasonable people to judge what kind of father he has been, should he choose not to. Harry served on active duty in Afghanistan, and there are malign forces who would welcome his violent downfall — tragically, some even within his own realm, with hearts darker than mine.

Which is why he will always get taxpayer funded security.
That is not in question.

Did Harry fly in on a commercial flight or private jet?

Well Andrew - son of the monarch and who has previously served on active duty in the armed forces lost his Royal protection officers in 2019 when he stopped being a working royal.

Meghan has released her podcast today - the same day as Harry’s hearing.

They’re really not employing very good PR people. Trying to “bury news” by releasing other good news somewhere else may have worked 20 years ago but in the age of excessive information and social media it ain’t gonna work.

Edited

The PR people may be excellent - but ignored.

But they hadn't been killing Taliban.

I blame Ashley Cole

She was driven past me once on her way to a charity where she is a patron with a fleet of police escorts and I was a bit surprised as I'd half expected her to drive herself in a mud splattered vintage land rover and smoking a cheeky fag out the window.

Me too! @AtIusvue, and I’m convinced that it’s also the fault of Gordon Ramsey!!

The police are not in KC's control and neither are their decisions around security. The law against guntoting private bodyguards in the UK is not in KC'S control. Would you prefer if they were, because that is the only way he could provide Harry with the level of security he wants.

Profhilodisaster · 08/04/2025 13:48

I can somewhat relate to Harry, hear me out.
When I finally got rid of my violent abusive ex , I was hell bent on bringing him down, I'd lost my fear of him which was replaced by blind rage. I wanted to fight him in court to recoup the money he had stolen from me, I wanted him to never see our daughter, I wanted to destroy him. It took over my life, until my dear friend sat me down and put things into perspective and I saw that I was only hurting myself.
Harry seems to have no one (at least who can get through to him) to do the same. It will make no difference to William if Harry wins or loses his case, his life will continue unchanged.
It's time Harry let go of his rage against his family, he's only hurting himself.

RanyaJerodung · 08/04/2025 13:53

Wise words, @Profhilodisaster .
Your friend was right. I hope you're in a better place, now 💐

I recently rewatched Royal it’s a Knockout after listening into to the Rest is Entertainment podcast episode on it. The host asks what her team’s war cry is and says “We don’t have one - we’re the strong and silent kind”. I actually love her!

BasiliskStare · 08/04/2025 14:01

@IdaGlossop - is there a similar petition in her support. Not that this should be decided by public vote
