What place does any of that have on a thread about accusations of malpractice, failure in governance of a charity, misogyny, racism etc.?

A thread is like a conversation. They can meander somewhat and then get back on track.

I’m surprised it wasn’t. Or maybe it wasn’t about himself being a victim enough so not worth including

Maybe he was so off his tits on gas and air that he failed to notice?

BasiliskStare · 08/04/2025 14:01

@IdaGlossop - is there a similar petition in her support. Not that this should be decided by public vote

@BasiliskStare I don't know of one supporting her. Should we start one? 😀

IdaGlossop · 08/04/2025 14:14

Looking at the lines of legal people lined up today, I am willing some journalist to investiage how much the UK taxpayer has spent on H&M's court cases. He's becoming a vexatious omplainant.

Let us not forget that Harry is the King's son. Whether or not the King chooses to support him is his prerogative — but it is for reasonable people to judge what kind of father he has been, should he choose not to. Harry served on active duty in Afghanistan, and there are malign forces who would welcome his violent downfall — tragically, some even within his own realm, with hearts darker than mine.

All Harry has to do is give 7 days' notice, which is not a hardship!

If he was so concerned about his security, revealing his kill count was hardly a sensible choice!

He's bloody 40 and he's made his own bed, let him lie in it. I'm sick of this entitled, petulant, whiney pair at this point. He can stay away from the UK. He won't be missed.

Funny how he's safe enough to come for his incessant legal cases!

But they hadn't been killing Taliban.

Or bragging about it in print.

Me too! @AtIusvue, and I’m convinced that it’s also the fault of Gordon Ramsey!!

If only Diana had had a headache that night! 😄

BemusedAmerican · 08/04/2025 14:24

The US is full of people who killed Taliban as the war went on for a really long time. We are not providing them with security. We actually have been remiss in providing many US vets with housing, medical care, and job assistance. I don't want my tax dollars to be spent on rich Prince Harry when US vets need help.

most of us don’t want you or us to pay either!

After the Canadian Invictus event, I actually felt Tom Bower should have security to protect him from the SS.

the abuse and bullying of an elderly man filmed for their enjoyment!

Anne , Edward and Andrew were DC of the late Queen and they don’t have 24/7 security.

Uricon2 · 08/04/2025 13:44

The police are not in KC's control and neither are their decisions around security. The law against guntoting private bodyguards in the UK is not in KC'S control. Would you prefer if they were, because that is the only way he could provide Harry with the level of security he wants.

I understand that King Charles doesn’t directly control the police or the legal framework around armed protection in the UK. But as head of state and a figure with significant influence, it’s not unreasonable to think he could have advocated more strongly for a fair, secure arrangement for Harry, especially given the level of threat and the unique circumstances. It’s less about controlling the police and more about using influence to ensure consistency and fairness, particularly for a senior member of the family who served the country and was born into this life.

It’s also worth noting that Harry wasn’t asking for something outrageous — just the ability to pay for appropriate security when he’s in the UK. That seems like a reasonable request, especially when safety is at stake.

I get that Anne, Edward, and Andrew don’t have 24/7 security, but their situations are different. They don’t face the same level of public scrutiny or security threats that Harry does. Harry’s been in the media spotlight for years and, more recently, has had a lot of controversy and public attention around his personal life. Given the nature of the threats he’s received, it’s not surprising he feels the need for extra protection when he’s in the UK. It’s about keeping him and his family safe, not about comparing to other royals who might not face the same risks.

But that level of security is not for sale. To anyone.

Firstly, he has a brass neck and can certainly dish it out – he’s not some hapless pensioner being trolled for fun. Secondly, the video just politely asked him questions about what he was doing at Invictus, given his views on Harry and Meghan – views for which he has been rightly criticized for stirring the pot and views for which he has been royally finacially rewarded.

Charles advocating for Harry in any way would be completely contrary to the constitutional role of the monarchy, so it is unreasonable. As to your other points, there is no precedent under RAVEC for a working member of the Royal family to leave the UK. How do you propose that consistency and fairness would be ensured, that being the case? He was born 'into this life' but chose to leave it.

To add a new point, on safety, we forget that MI5 and MI6 are working away in the background. Any credible threat to H will be being addressed without the public knowing anything about it.

Edited for typos

Good luck Harry - go and slay those dragons and a parsimonious father who would put you at risk rather than reach into his deep taxpayer enriched pockets to protect you. Royal they maybe but a family they ain't. I blame the parent.

What has RAVEC got to do with KCIII?

So what if he served in Afghanistan. Thousands of people did. Doesn’t give them the right to behave like spoilt brats and demand taxpayers foot the bill to feed their ego

Apart from the fact that Anne was the victim
of an actual attempted kidnapping 🤔
