If anyone is at a loose end tomorrow the Court of Appeal’s hearing of Prince Harry’s appeal will be live-streamed (at least in part, after they deal with some confidential matters). The link is on the page below!

www.judiciary.uk/the-court-of-appeal-civil-division-live-streaming-of-court-hearings/

Is that the RAVEC appeal, @Serenster ? I lose track 😆

BasiliskStare · 07/04/2025 20:37

@Serenster - Thank you for that link. I've just read the document in the "previous case" sic. Interesting. I will be looking out for this tomorrow.
I assumed it would be utter quietness for a couple of days and some decision some time later. Given they have been over this ground I would hope they could decide quite quickly. Anyway - thank you 👏

@CoffeeCantata I agree - it's not all banquets and balconies. I don't care if the WRF are a bit boring - as long as they keep to the job & don't make it about themselves.

Yes. This is why I like W & K. They show interest in the people they are meeting and try to make sure the spotlight is on the people they are meeting and the causes they are celebrating. Even when K made her announcement about having cancer, she talked about other people suffering cancer at the same time.

Lunde · 07/04/2025 19:09

Yes - I think it was George Clooney who revealed that he'd never met them before but thought it would be cool to be able to say that he'd been at a royal wedding.

I'm pretty sure it was reported that Reese Witherspoon declined her invitation as she didn't know who Meghan was,

And their fans insisted this was George Clooney cracking a joke...

APATEKPHILLIPEWATCH · 07/04/2025 21:10

QEII was the most revered and successful monarch - even staunch republicans had respect for her - precisely because sure she was dutiful and non controversial and just got on with the job. I couldn’t tell you a thing about her personality- which is exactly what I expect from a monarch, they aren’t celebrities and shouldn’t behave like celebrities. Throughout history any Royal who was “me me me” has always had a sad demise.

And in her amazing video after she finished chemo, it was about other people and finding strength. It wasn’t about her. I loved that.

It was such a crazy board at the time. I was glad a couple of the posters didn't know where I live because I think they might have come and burnt my house down in retaliation for my traitorous post.

Some folk really take it too far.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 07/04/2025 21:13

@Lunde Yes that's always been my opinion too. It's also what makes Princess Anne such a rockstar IMO, she can and does turn up to a loo roll factory in Hull, a flour mill in Somerset or a stonemasons in Anglesey on a wet Tuesday in February and genuinely look engaged, interested and like she wants to be there without being patronising. When in reality we all know she'd rather be out on a horse.

Do you remember The Lion King premier where Harry was strongly pitching to the director to try and employ Meghan in his next project? The director was obviously just expecting a handshake and maybe a bit of polite small talk and was totally thrown by the encounter. I remember watching the video online and my toes curling 🙈😬.

APATEKPHILLIPEWATCH · 07/04/2025 21:14

I can’t be doing with the hand holding. Harry and Meghan are in their 40’s, it’s ridiculous. Similarly holding hands with another grown woman. Grow up!

The poor bloke looked bewildered and Harry said “You look surprised” - yeah, surprise at your brass neck

APATEKPHILLIPEWATCH · 07/04/2025 21:17

I can see them doing to Archie and Lillibet what Kim Kardashian did to North West - using her connections to shove them under people’s noses at the expense of someone more talented.

I had to go and look to see if it was as bad as I remember... I'll never learn 🤦.

On Saturday, a short video, originally recorded in July of last year, at the London première of the movie “The Lion King,” resurfaced online. The clip, apparently captured by a fan and published by the Daily Mail, shows an interaction on the red carpet between Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and Bob Iger, the chairman and C.E.O. of the Walt Disney Company. In the video, Meghan Markle, the Prince’s wife, warmly greets Jay-Z and Beyoncé, who voices Nala, Simba’s love interest, in the remake, while, nearby, the Prince is seen speaking to Iger. “You know she does voice-overs?” Harry asks, pointing at Markle, who has her back to him. “Oh, really?” Iger responds, smiling broadly, if a bit uncertainly. The Prince continues, “Did you know that? You seem surprised,” his hands a whirl of seemingly nervous energy. The two men share a brief chuckle, until Harry suddenly turns serious. “She’s really interested,” he says, doubling down on the pitch, and Iger, swiftly mirroring the Prince’s more businesslike mood, replies, “Sure. We’d love to try.”

Even Prince Harry Has to Hustle

It’s a relief to discover, from Prince Harry’s recently resurfaced “Lion King” clip, that even royals are a little bit grasping and loserish. But they are, in the end, still royals.

So she met Beyonce that night - throws into doubt the whole faux “I can’t believe Beyonce knows who I am!” When she got a text from her

She consistently put the monarchy and its interests first.

I'm surprised and intrigued that any staunch republicans might have respected those actions.

Wasn't that the event that Harry ditched the Royal Marines for? Not long after taking over as Captain General from Prince Philip. Should think Philip was not impressed.

That rings a vague bell. It's one thing to show a lack of respect to the marines but you've hope he would've wanted to show some to his beloved grandad. Obviously not

Well it’s jarring for Brits to be hugged by some rando they’ve never met donchanow

Probs why she was so relieved to see a fellow American. Bey would've looked like a waterfall in the desert compared to us cold, buttoned up bunch.

I highly doubt you respect anyone republican or otherwise. Have you read Norman Baker’s book that Roussette kept banging on about.

Had Meghan just had a baby at that Lion King event? She looks quite fat and not at all like herself!

Any with a relatively open mind respected her.

I think so. I wouldn't say "fat" - that's quite insulting. But definitely fuller of face and figure and completely at odds with her Ozempic self today.
