I had to go and look to see if it was as bad as I remember... I'll never learn 🤦.

On Saturday, a short video, originally recorded in July of last year, at the London première of the movie “The Lion King,” resurfaced online. The clip, apparently captured by a fan and published by the Daily Mail, shows an interaction on the red carpet between Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and Bob Iger, the chairman and C.E.O. of the Walt Disney Company. In the video, Meghan Markle, the Prince’s wife, warmly greets Jay-Z and Beyoncé, who voices Nala, Simba’s love interest, in the remake, while, nearby, the Prince is seen speaking to Iger. “You know she does voice-overs?” Harry asks, pointing at Markle, who has her back to him. “Oh, really?” Iger responds, smiling broadly, if a bit uncertainly. The Prince continues, “Did you know that? You seem surprised,” his hands a whirl of seemingly nervous energy. The two men share a brief chuckle, until Harry suddenly turns serious. “She’s really interested,” he says, doubling down on the pitch, and Iger, swiftly mirroring the Prince’s more businesslike mood, replies, “Sure. We’d love to try.”

Given what we know now, I wonder if Meghan told Harry to ask about her doing a voice over for Disney ?

Do you remember The Lion King premier where Harry was strongly pitching to the director to try and employ Meghan in his next project?

Wasn't that the event that Harry ditched the Royal Marines for? Not long after taking over as Captain General from Prince Philip. Should think Philip was not impressed.

Not just any Royal Marine event - the annual memorial to the 11 Marines killed in the Deal bombing.

I think it showed that even in July 2019 they were planning Megxit and pitching for tv and film deals, albeit very clumsily. I think it shows that their priorities were schmoozing with A-listers and moguls - regardless of Harry's "military patronages are so important to me" narrative these days - that rather than having any sense of duty to appear as the Captain General of the Royal Marines - he chose the red carpet.

I mean they didn't have to be joined at the hip. He could have done the Marines event and she could have still gone to the Lion King. But he made his choice ... and has whined for the past 5 years about being "stripped" of his military patronages. Yet they didn't seem so important to him back then and he took them for granted.

I think you are right.

I also think they were pitching for tv and film deals while working royals. Harry was just very clumsy at it and Meghan seemed clueless.

Conundrumseverywhere · 08/04/2025 01:56

Harry wouldn’t have been interested in the celebrity life without Meghan. To my mind all of this hustling, rudeness and lack of thought for others originates with her. She’s used him as a vehicle to promote her own agenda right from day one. He didn’t want to lose her, didn’t want to disappoint her or let her down so he’s done everything she’s asked, and look where it has got him. She dumped Trevor E because she didn’t think he was trying hard enough to promote her career. She’s always had the same playbook.

Had Meghan just had a baby at that Lion King event? She looks quite fat and not at all like herself!

Oh come on now she doesn’t look fat. But googling it she was 2 months post partum. She does however seem to pick badly fitted outfits that push her chest down and make her look boxy when she isnt

Fat? come on now, that was way below the belt.

But, that said, she unfortunately does look less like herself nowadays.

Oh certainly, it might have been a quip. But allied to Reese Witherspoon (is she a noted jokester?) saying she had turned down an invitation because she hadn't met them, it raised questions about whether a number of guests were invited for optics or to develop a relationship, rather than because a genuine friendship already existed.

Oh God - how embarrassing! I didn't know about this incident.

I can't help thinking she must have put pressure on him to go to this rather than the Marines event (which I'm sure she'd have found boring) and then to hustle for work for her in this totally inappropriate way.

Of course this in conjecture, but I'd put money on it. She is absolutely shameless and she makes me cringe. What an idiot Harry is to go along with it all.

I really don't mean this to sound bitchy - just factual! To be clear: I think Meghan is a very attractive woman (but I personally thought she was lovelier before all the work).

But I do think she has a short torso and very long legs. Although both are incredibly slender, you can see that Catherine's body-shape is very different. She has a really long body. Luckily her long legs balance it (unlike mine....😕).

Meghan wears a lot of floppy clothes which, and while these were not necessarily right for her royal role - too informal? - I can see why she does so because when she wears close-fitting things she does look a bit odd - her torso is surprisingly short-waisted, as they used to say.

I have no room to criticise anyone's physique - I'm not making a value-judgement - merely trying to explain something.

I agree that Meghan would have much preferred a film premiere to a military event. I think this underlines her lack of interest in what the Royal family actually do and the fact that she was never about being a royal, only about getting rich and famous

FWIW I agree with you about her looking fat in that particular dress. It had been altered so much the seams didn’t line up and it was still under strain. That’s not a comment about her figure in general, just how it looked on that occasion.

Conundrumseverywhere · 08/04/2025 08:02

She really doesn’t seem to know what suits her. To me it’s a reflection of her personality , she has no ability to take an objective look at herself.

CorrectionCentre · 08/04/2025 08:09

I know I'll be accused being the thread police but so what. I'm so frustrated and disappointed that a thread focused on really serious accusations involving PH has descended into commenting about a woman's weight and dress sense. There's already been the derailment into commenting about the As ever products. There are threads for that.

You don't need to worry - my comment was not accusing M of being fat (and that's no crime!). I was suggesting a reason why she might make certain clothes choices due to her specific body shape, which is very, vary far from being fat, but which might suit some styles more than others.

What place does any of that have on a thread about accusations of malpractice, failure in governance of a charity, misogyny, racism etc.?

Galdownunder · 08/04/2025 08:46

i just wondered if it was just after she’d had a baby because she does look fat. So what? I’m 52 and fat. It’s not a crime or an insult just a fact. Big deal. She looked better then than she does now.

I agree she looks better than she does now. Most of us had some weight to lose after having a baby. She didn’t dress very well in view of that. Something more forgiving would have been better.

Apparently Harry is making the most of his time in London, and he’s busy meeting and briefing the press to try and get them onside. What a snake.
There has already been a pro Meghan article in the DM today. So whatever he’s doing and saying seems to be working. If we start to see stories coming out that discredit SC. We know why.

TBF I think it’s largely down to nothing being in the news about Sentebale in recent days.

But like with my previous reference to using the word “Africa” in a disclosure request I’m trying to spot things linked to their poor behaviour that we may have missed before - such as a habit to “tout” to elevate Meghan like what Harry requested of Dr Chandauka

Is he actually here? The BBC is reporting that it’s not clear if he will attend the hearing 🤷‍♀️

The recent case with Justin Bandoni smearing Blake Lovely shows how easily it can be don’t if you discreetly throw money at the right people. And people STILL hate Blake despite an extremely damning disclosure about the work that went into destroying her reputation

APATEKPHILLIPEWATCH · 08/04/2025 09:30

Meghan has released her podcast today - the same day as Harry’s hearing.

They’re really not employing very good PR people. Trying to “bury news” by releasing other good news somewhere else may have worked 20 years ago but in the age of excessive information and social media it ain’t gonna work.

It’s only what I’ve heard and not from a direct source but I thought it was interesting timing that all of a sudden up pops a pro Meghan article. We’ll just have to see.
