Target and every supermarlet in existencecsells tins of tea in nice packages.

Uricon2 · 02/04/2025 16:53

I think a programme with Doria would be much more interesting than anything H&M have produced so far. I wonder what she really thinks of all this malarkey.

@Mightymoog - from when I had posted David Essex was comfortably taller than me

That was a thoughtful reply thank you.

Sostrene and Grene have all this stuff. There's nothing new.

The problem with being "all sold out " is that consumers are fickle and often impatient. There are so many brands of everything today that people will just buy elsewhere. You buy with one touch. It's no effort. It's instant reward - well in a day or two or less! I ordered a beauty product someone was offering a 20% discount on at 15 mins past midnight and I had it by 11am. It has to be amazing to be willing to go on lists and wait for . Spread? No!

I hope you’ll join me in sharing the joy of these practical tips on the matter of jars, sizing and condiments, to elevate this everyday conversation into a magical moment mimicking my daily life as an urban SAHM who’s waiting for the heating repair fellow to arrive (a fellow who’s been by my side through all the ups and downs of my heating and air conditioning trials and tribulations over the years). (If this makes no sense, that’s ok - just don’t be distracted from my aesthetics by poor content. Just look behold my jars, revel and wish you could be me.)

From left to right:

Fly by Jing chili crisp - 6oz - $13.49 -9/10 for taste
Divinia Red Pepper Jam - 8.5oz - $5.99 - 10/10
Bonnie’s Jams Red Pepper Jelly - 8.75oz - gift - unopened, looks a bit neon
Polaner “Spreadable Fruit”, strawberry - 10oz - $4.39 - 6/10. DC like it though.
Bonne Maman Apricot Fruit Spread - 11.8oz - $7.99 -8/10
Empty Bonne Maman strawberry jam jar brought home from the UK. Standard UK size.

I hope this picture of my elevated condiments and accompanying descriptions will help you realise that you are you, as you have always been and will always be. As ever.

Sorry Meghan but I think I'll stick with Lidl's Maribel jam which compares very favourably with the many posh brands that I've tried.

£1.89 for a 450g jar.

Uricon2 · 02/04/2025 17:17

Very good @Onlyonekenobe , so envious. I must ask though, why is the Bonne Maman jar still empty? Why have you not stuffed it with a lemon and some spring flowers or elevated it as a pen pot for your desk?

Because I'm not vacuous enough, I think?

I suggest it might make a suitable receptacle for dried edible flowers. Megs missed a trick there, although with the prices she's charging for them, it would probably cost a months wages to fill.

⭐ for you for dedication to the cause!

Mightymoog · 02/04/2025 17:23

I like the look of the chili crisp.
I have this which I'm guessing is similar. crunchy rather than a proper condiment?

I have just noticed however that the packaging appears to have some sort of Mexican style mask on it so will immediately throw it in the bin.

Apologies to anyone who was triggered

Are you suggesting that I can't afford to pay for a jar's worth of edible flowers? Please explain yourself. How dare you attack me like this? I find this racist and misogynist. But thanks, though. Perhaps I can sell my story of victimhood to my local paper and earn enough money (largely tax free as I will siphon such earnings through my Delaware-incorporated foundation) to afford said flowers. Let me just put on some white clothes and waft over to their offices/quiet yell at them.

About three years ago, I bought some very expensive honey that was amazing - best US honey that I've had - from a place with a great reputation. The two jars were hexagonal jars. I washed them out and now use them to hold loose leaf tea. However, I've never bought the honey again because it was so expensive.

I do think they elevate my tea drawer but my pens are stored in a gag gift mug.

Ooo is that a new Gordons?

If Meghan had gone into the gin business, she might even have persuaded a few of us on here to buy some, purely in the interests of research, of course.

BasiliskStare · 02/04/2025 17:33

@Uricon2 - No idea if it's new - neighbours brought it back from duty free to say thank you for looking after the lady who was looking after their dog. I normally go straight down the green Gordon's route.

It's a small airline size of jam ?

No it’s bigger than that.

The airline sized jar has about a tablespoon of jam in it.

Weepixie · 02/04/2025 17:54

glitterturd · 02/04/2025 16:23

There's only two sources for jam and it's Baxter's and Mackay's. I should know as my grandfather was conceived in the berry fields of Blairgowrie . 🤭

I may know someone who once upon a time went home on the berry bus with grass stains on her knickers.

What on earth goes on in these raspberry farms?!
