That NYT piece is not complimentary is it? It tries to be neutral…..but the writer isn’t impressed is she.

If the NYT was a paid puff price…I’d want MH money back if I was her:

‘Meghan is upbeat, charming and always on message when fielding questions from a reporter. But she is clearly bothered by accusations that she is unrelatable and out of touch. She may be living a fairy tale, but not all that long ago, she was a not-very-famous actress on a medium-popular TV series. She was divorced, in her mid-30s and unsure where her next job or home would be.’

Slates her kitchen, the writer mentioned it was well worn earlier in the article:

‘Unlike the sleek white kitchen in the show, this kitchen — designed and built by the previous owners — has a weathered wooden island (in addition to a marble one), a well-used Viking stove and classic accents of blue-and-white tiles.’

Megs feeding the kids chicken nuggets???

’When it’s just her and the kids for dinner, she said, she often relies on chicken nuggets, veggie burgers and Tater Tots (the freezer is stuffed with them).’

In WLM, she goes in about the kids loving beg. Now she’s got a freezer stuff with nuggets and tatter tots?(as it says in the article)

‘and she really does sometimes transfer takeout food onto serving dishes (I have seen the platters).’

Kids go through phases of living different foods 💁‍♀️ besides most people have a range of foods like chicken nuggets in the freezer and veg in the fridge.

@AtIusvue - Is the NYT behind a paywall ?

Can't wait to see how much this pot of mass-produced jam will be flogged for.😂

Meghan's raspberry spread in keepsake packaging will cost 14 dollars (£10.80), while her limited edition wildflower honey with honeycomb is priced at 28 dollars (£21.60). The spread without the packaging will be available later box for 9 dollars (£7

BemusedAmerican · 02/04/2025 13:26

Alexander Larman ( who wrote that a Spectator article) discusses the launch towards the end of his video interview:

Her jam/spread is twice the price of my regular stuff. I don’t think it’s going to fly off the shelves at that cost however prettily packaged it may be.

Also, she’s wearing an all cream outfit doing the gardening….as well as doing the cooking. She must shop at the same place a Geri Halliwell.

I was wondering if someone would be able to explain why it has to be called a fruit spread and not jam? I can’t find the answer anywhere!

LaBarucci · 02/04/2025 13:39

The Independent has more of a lowdown on pricing (apologies if this is cross-posted).

"Of course, you’ll find the raspberry spread that started it all, presented in keepsake packaging that you can repurpose to tuck away love notes or special treasures, and to remember this pivotal moment with me. Think of it as our time capsule."

What utter bollocks.

i assume fruit content

i assume fruit content

Yes I thought it would have something to do with fruit/sugar content but I have never seen fruit spread used before

Bruisername · 02/04/2025 13:49

Ok just googled - fruit spread has more fruit and less sugar than jam

BasiliskStare · 02/04/2025 13:52

Thank you @AtIusvue By jove I think she's got it 💐

AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 13:53

I think there will be lots of sales at first but I can’t see them becoming staple items in peoples homes, because it’s just too expensive for something so basic.

OP posts:
jeffgoldblum · 02/04/2025 13:53

Has she listed the ingredients yet?
because when it comes to jam it’s the sugar that provides the longevity, if it’s low sugar it will need preservatives , and without wanting to insult our American friends ( bemused particularly!) America allows ingredients that we and other countries do not.

Never thought of that

I'm sure this will sell well for a couple of months, however I look at the products, the mixes in particular and they remind of products available B&Ms or Home bargains.

So it'll all be down to quality but as mass produced factory products will they be of a significantly greater quality than those products that already exist?

Bruisername · 02/04/2025 14:00

Is crepe mix commonly available in the US or does it tend to be the fat pancake mix? I wonder if she thought it being crepe mix would make it more exotic

still an odd choice of product and it seems very expensive - the profit margin must be huge
