Do we have a pic of said jam fruit spread - please?

jeffgoldblum · 02/04/2025 14:03

AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 13:56

Never thought of that

Hi @AtIusvue, sorry I abandoned you and this thread! , I was busy being outraged by Harry’s shenanigans!! 🤣.
of course my point might be moot !
we may not be the destination that Meghan wishes to flog her wares to! , I’m sure she would have also considered the strict rules about selling food items in America too! ( we hope!) .

BasiliskStare · 02/04/2025 14:06

@Mightymoog The spread without the packaging will be available later box for 9 dollars (£7)

And that's for a 215g jar so @£7 £3.25 per 100g .
Bonne Maman £3.30 for a 370g jar. (89p per 100g - according to Waitrose )

Both raspberry

As Kevin Bacon said in Apollo 13 - can you check my math? 😂

I think I've done that right (numbers are not my friend.) but that's jolly expensive.

BemusedAmerican · 02/04/2025 14:06

Pancake mix is more common. My mother used to buy Bisquick, which she would use for quiche as well as biscuits and pancakes. My mother hated cooking and worked full-time. I was a latchkey kid.

crazzynut · 02/04/2025 14:09

Good luck to her.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/04/2025 14:09

Bruisername · 02/04/2025 13:49

Ok just googled - fruit spread has more fruit and less sugar than jam

So presumably it has to be kept in a fridge once opened? As the sugar is the preservative.

AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 14:20

The flower sprinkles and honey have sold out.

Spread isn’t up yet though.

Peppermint tea is £12 roughly. I'll stick to teabpigs when I want a treat I think.

DuskyPink1984 · 02/04/2025 14:24

Just tried to buy some jam for a friends birthday next week but shipping only available to US addresses. I don't think the prices are extortionate (as the press having been reporting) if it's something like a novelty gift for someone.

TulipTiptoer · 02/04/2025 14:25

Good luck to her. Hope it works out and is a success. 👍

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/04/2025 14:26

Ingredients are on the site. Seem pretty standard.

jeffgoldblum · 02/04/2025 14:31

Pretty please 🙏, could you link or screenshot the ingredients.

pushchairprincess · 02/04/2025 14:34

You have to give it to her - she's a tryer - I admire her for that, and hope it's a sucess - it's just all of the other stuff which needs sorting out `(the children, the bullying and the running of the charities) - just sell your wares Meghan and good luck.

BeaTwix · 02/04/2025 14:39

I don't think she is reading the room. Who is she aspiring to sell to?

Most people I know socially/ through work make pancakes/ biscuits etc from scratch and if they give their kids freezer food they would hide it and I think it would be an occasional treat. Their freezers are full of ingredients - stock, frozen veg/, frozen herbs or frozen home made bulk cooking.

The well heeled young grads at the gym also won't be into this product line except perhaps the flower sprinkles to elevate home made avo toast. I suspect most of them would make pancakes from scratch too.

Are US consumers really so different?

User450707 · 02/04/2025 14:40

I mentioned this in the Sentebale thread, but in what universe is this entire brand not directed aimed at rich, white, Republican women? The branding is supposed to evoke a sort of colonial romance for aristocracy, and the "vibe" of that appeals to a specific type American women who love the kitsch and romanticisation of royalty. Can definitely see it doing well among Mormon wives who take pride in homemaking, have lots of disposable income and are also extremely conservative and religious.

Not a shred of the branding or product range is designed to appeal to liberal feminists, immigrants, creatives, LGBTQ+ community, GenX or GenZ. It's not cool in the slightest. There are plenty of food brands that are more inclusive or at least more fun with their branding. As Ever is literally so trad wife, so conservative and flies in the face of everything Meghan (allegedly) stands for. For someone who was so vocal about racism and ethnicity, the cuisine featured is so clearly white. They assume that's the food their ideal consumer loves to eat which simultaneously rules out a huge segment of society. The vast majority of Asians, Latinos and black Americans do not make delicate french crepes with raspberry spread for breakfast.

It's like she's trying to appeal to Trump's America in all ways possible without actually coming out and saying it. She's turned into a trad wife, her fame is solely due to marriage, her husband is a prince who lives off money he didn't earn and she peddles the kitchiest homemaking content to conservative fans.

Bruisername · 02/04/2025 14:42

The crepe and shortbread mix seem out of place. The rest could all be gifted I suppose

i assume the target market is her fans

To be fair to Meghan, she’s marketing her brand at the only demographic who would consider paying those prices for fairly basic goods!

AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 14:43

So the As ever site is really strange.

The honey has a sold out sticker on the front page, then when you click on it, it says it isn’t sold out and you can purchase.

Half an hour ago, It said it was sold out and you couldn’t add to basket.

Other items, that don’t have a sold out sticker on the front page, when you click on it, it’s says sold out and you can’t add to basket.

It’s all over the shop!

OP posts:
AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 14:44

So everything marked sold out- isn’t

and everything that isn’t- is sold out

OP posts:
AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 14:46

Now it’s switched to everything sold out again.

OP posts:
AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 14:49

So….i think everything is sold out.

She did say there was limited stock. And the DM article said they had a tough time figuring out quantities…..so I’m guessing……It must have been quite a small batch for the first run.

Increase for the next batch of items after the next Netflix infomercial.

OP posts:
BasiliskStare · 02/04/2025 14:50

Dalesford Organic Raspberry Jam £2.20 per 100g
Highgrove Organic preserve Raspberry and Blackberry £.2.04 per 100g - all profits to charity
Fortnum and Mason Raspberry preserve £1.75 per 100g

Skippy , Skippy - I've fallen down the Old jam/preserve/spread price comparison vortex mine - Go get help.

pushchairprincess · 02/04/2025 14:50

With everything being sold out - is it because of low stocks, or has someone sabotaged the launch so no-one can purchase ??

BasiliskStare · 02/04/2025 14:54

pushchairprincess · 02/04/2025 14:50

My guess low stock plus sold out only 2 left sales technique. Ie it looks like it's flying off the shelves

AtIusvue · 02/04/2025 14:54

Hmmm I think a lot of her fans would buy the products and I don’t think the batches would be huge. So they probably have sold out.

The DM will 100% have got some of the products! 😂
