I think its telling that she hasn't secured any investors to date - and wont even invest her own cash. The forcasting must have been dire or uncertain?

Seems the current sales mechanism is 'live' market research and/or the goods are only made to order as there is no volume of stock up front to trade. This approach relies on the manufacturer upscaling quickly to satisfy demand.

Do we know who the influencers are? Any SS or celebs?

EsmaCannonball · 04/04/2025 01:39

There's one more big deal left in Meghan: the tell-all book. But it's going to have to be truly dirt-dishing. Publishers will realise that nobody is much interested in Meghan being inspirational or joyful or whatever worthy spin she tries to put on things. They'll demand misery and scandal and juicy anecdotes.

@BemusedAmerican - sorry if I am being dim here - not the first time won't the last - but how could Amazon get Sussexed ?

Their ability (gift?) of making major life changes while cataclysmic change is happening around them.

Their product sales start at Amazon, then all the warehouse workers simultaneously strike. Hackers hold Amazon for ransom. Jeff Bezos falls into a Venetian canal and ends up with a life-threatening illness from the water. The Amazon supply chain is seriously disrupted.

Mightymoog · 04/04/2025 08:29

BemusedAmerican · 03/04/2025 22:27

Every time H & M start some big initiative, it somehow coincides with plague, fire, and now economic meltdown.

I know that Amazon is evil but I do find them useful, and they employ lots of people in NYC. I hope they don't get Sussexed.

I always think Amazon perform a much better public service than all the public services so i give them a huge pass on not paying their taxes!

This gives you an idea of the type of stuff they merch

https://www.snowcommerce.com/snow-report

House of Dragon stuff etc.

I bought a bottle of House of Dragon wine from B&M yesterday......... (it's actually Wolf Blass, not made by dragons, sadly) Maybe we'll see As Ever pancake - sorry, crepe, mix in there before too long.

AtIusvue · 04/04/2025 09:55

It raises questions about Harry and Meghan a finances……that she’s resorted to using a fan merchandising company, selling white label goods to her fan base.

With this business, she doesn’t have ti OIt anything up front, it’s risk free for her in that respect. I suspect, because she doesn’t have the sort of money to do so

Again, making you think that they never bit huge sums from NF and the Spare money….is no longer spare

I did wonder about the video on the website or Instagram or wherever it was, showing the jam spread coming off a factory production line - not really the Duchess' aesthetic, surely?

Not at all.

When her whole programme had been about garden to kitchen table. Which is all about knowing where your food comes from.

Then to post a video of jars in a factory, that could be anywhere and the labels on the jam don’t tell you where it’s been manufactured.

She also hasn’t shared the story of her development of the product. So sourcing raw materials, trying to find the right factory etc- I’m sure that would be stressful. Surely that’s what she would take about in her new podcast.

But she hasn’t mentioned any of this, obviously because she’s buying white label goods. Which is also obvious from the range of food stuffs she’s offering. You wouldn’t be able to come to market like that. If you were producing a new jam, it would just be different varieties. You couldnt also be developing cake mixes and doing all the work for that too.

She’s going to be sussed at some point. How embarassing. That she is fan merching.

But unlike the other companies that Snow Commerce works for - they have a show and then people want to buy the merch. The brand is already there.

For fans to buy the merch- she needs to develop her ‘brand’….so bit by bit she will reveal more of the kids and her family. Because her picking fruit from the garden and posting on insta is getting boring. She will have to give away more and more just to keep these fans interested. Maybe then Harry will wake up. But he made his bed…..

It's just turning out to be like everything else - all fluffy and fine on the surface but underneath it lacks any depth or commitment.

Yip, she’s done nothing.

Snow commerce does everything- literally every step for you.

All she has to do, is build up the meghan ‘brand’- which is her insta stuff and developing her fan base.

And there were articles about her becoming a billionaire off the back of this? No chance!
Snow commerce will be taking a hefty cut and the fans will realise they’ve been duped by As ever. I give it 2 years max

I don't think WLM is about provenance and good quality food, and (I didn't watch it so don't know for sure) I don't think she claims it is. I actually don't think she's that deep or committed. I think the depth of her presentation is literally "look how pretty this is, look how amazing my life is, watch me waft about being gracious and generous and pretty". It's how she can say she feeds her children chicken nuggets and tater tots: she never said she's about provenance and organic food and respecting the terrain blah blah. She's open about being superficial.

I agree about multiple sources of revenue. I think that's how she's always been. She can't do anything full-time and properly because she'd get found out as a fraud. If she just flits from meeting to meeting, project to project, idea to idea, her feet never hit the ground long enough for anyone to suss her out. She just glides through and above it all, skimming whatever she can off the top. To Harry, ignoramus arrogant bell end that he is, she will look like she's doing it all - building a global brand, holding important meetings and calls and zooms, using buzzwords, appearing in places, people talking about her etc etc. But when she does stick to something, such as this latest version of her life since entering Harry's world, fissures appear very quickly and that's when she drops people and places like hot potatoes. Because she's been rumbled and she knows it. It's why she won't ever go back to the RF.

AtIusvue · 04/04/2025 14:07

She spends a lot of time on the show WLM, in the garden picking fruit n veg for her recipes, creating veg gift baskets, how to preserve fruit from your garden, how to set up a kitchen garden and finally, at the end has a famous chef Alice Waters, who known for farm to table dishes, making a quiche with veg from the garden.

So it’s definitely part of the image she was trying to sell.

That’s all an act, to disguise the fact that her products are just UPF white label products.

Are those "how to eat and drink" the product recommendations really from Meghan's site? "steep in hot water and share with loved ones after an indulgent meal" ? WTAF, she's telling us how to drink tea now?

Hilarious!

I haven’t watched WLM either but from the time Meghan appeared on the scene she’s only ever been about very healthy eating.

I'm baffled by how stupid they think their target market must be. The entire brand is very 90-00s, where people loved the non-ironic glamourisation of wealth from SATC or Gossip Girl. Back then, magazines would have that kitschy, outdated tone of copywriting for their lifestyle tips. That's been entirely replaced by bloggers, Instagrammers and far more individual and authentic voices. No idea who decided it would be a good idea to target wealthy women by telling them how to make tea.

I personally think the entire brand is fake, aspirational merch. They're not targeting the top 1 - 0.1% of women who are on par with Meghan herself and have the time to make hibiscus tea in the sun. They're aiming for not-very-smart women who dream of living a luxurious life or want to elevate the life they already have. The same ones who believe in manifesting, high value men, sprinkle sprinkle and the whole Republican, trad wife pipeline.

That's also why they don't care about the actual quality and the products are basically white-labelled UPF food. Meghan didn't invest money in her own production kitchen to create unique food items, which is what someone truly passionate about food would do. Netflix is basically getting her to flog merch like any other influencer. That's why the pricing is low enough to make it an "affordable luxury". Even though $14 might be high for jam, it's still an amount of money anyone could come up with. They're not aiming for truly wealthy people like Goop or The Row.

Weepixie · 04/04/2025 15:18

I don’t know how stupid they think their target market is but it’s very obvious they don’t give their fans any credit for having a brain cell between them. The disrespect is huge and I can see them just sitting there saying, just lets run with it they’re all too stupid to work it out. Yet, we’ve seen how easy it has been for the whole thing to be uncovered in a matter of hours. That’s how little they think of their fans.

AtIusvue · 05/04/2025 16:56

So seemingly some fans on twitter are saying that they ordered the fan merch, paid….and now have a email saying they’ve sold out.

Meghan has sent a message to a declared Sussex squad member. Sounds dodgy AF to me.

Overselling? How? It really is held together with sellotape.

MissRoseDurward · 05/04/2025 17:10

'A gift from me'? But they've paid for the thing they didn't receive, and nothing said about a refund?

Has anyone actually received anything they've ordered and paid for?

It looks like total incompetence, or a scam - or both. It's gobsmacklingly beyond belief how shambolic it looks.

And she's presented it as her personal venture, so it's all on her. No-one else to blame.

AtIusvue · 05/04/2025 17:10

I’m guessing this all adds to the hype for the fans. They have to be fast with the ‘limited’ drop off food stuffs.

I don’t think I’d want to buy a product just labelled ‘honey’…..and have no idea where it’s from….and paying £22 for the privilege.

Her fans will buy anything though and you can see the OTT attempt by Meg to keep them onside.

It does look shoddy.

The reviews for Snow Commerce aren’t great. A repeat complaint seems to be about orders not arriving.
