I suspect your drive for this fight will last longer than mine, and I understand that the Royal Family plays a significant constitutional and historical role for many. But the way it functions often restricts and limits its members, which feels outdated and out of place in today’s world. Harry, though imperfectly, has tried to break free from that, and for that—no matter how flawed it may seem—I will support and applaud him.

Tom Bowyer took a shot at King Charles when he publicly questioned his supposed desire to forgive, something that came off as rather harsh and unsettling. But it also shows the power and influence the Royal Family still wields in the modern age. They are still seen as first among equals, without a doubt.

You will still applaud him when he has been accused of bullying, racism, sexism and misogynoirism? Because he has ‘broke free’
from the royal family? And the fact that in the past he has dressed up in a Nazi uniform, called his comrades a ‘raghead’ and ‘p*’, had to explain that his South African girlfriend wasn’t “black or anything” and allowed his friend to say that a woman of colour has made all of this up because she was jealous that Meghan was considered a more important woman of colour than she was. Wow, you seem like a racist to me!

Is this it ?

There are basically two types of charities set up by the RF/other wealthy people.
One is to be a tax efficient way of giving money. It's great if you get trustees who are experts in whatever field you are interested in, but basically you give to whatever charitable causes interest you and don't get any benefit back, so can please yourself. The CAF charity account is much the same for those of us with less to give.
The other is to address a specific issue - as done by DofE awards, Kings/Princes Trust. There you need expertise, the role of the Founder is to bring the right people together, and bring in the initial funding then gradually step back and let it become sustainable due to its record of achievement.
It seems that Harry has been seeing Sentebale as model one, but expecting the kudos of model two

No - it was more in relation to established charities looking for donors, and moving from one (historical) type of donor to another. Newer institutional donors tend to look for evidence of outcome measures, and also want to see donors similar to themselves already there.

(But that is all I can really remember, so hope the other poster can return and expand)

Interesting. I wonder why they lost it in 2023.

2023 was the year they did fundraising in Tokyo and had the polo cup in Singapore - might have been harder to blag freebies and donated goods and services in non-traditional polo countries.

How else is he meant to respond? He can't win either way. Outright discussion - torn to shreds, through a friend - torn to shreds. Complete silence? Torn to shreds.

How about not leaking It to the press on the first place. Those who live by the sword...

Conundrumseverywhere · 01/04/2025 23:36

The trouble to my mind is that Harry was never a working Royal in any real sense until he got engaged to Meghan. Then all of a sudden he was doing lots of engagements. I thought it was crazy. Why on earth was it allowed? He’s patently not made of the right stuff and she was a complete novice and newcomer. They weren’t even married. Then they are sent off on a huge tour when Meghan is in early pregnancy, a time when any woman feels exhausted . Factor in jet lag and all the rest of it, it was madness. Meghan may have said she wanted all that, but someone, ( the Queen) should have put their foot firmly down. Harry should have been given a few lightweight engagements in line with his interests to see how he got on. Meghan should have been prepared slowly and carefully over time.

Harry is unfit for public life . He’s childish, not bright, and impatient. She is just a car crash because all she cares about is feeding her insatiable ego. They are both in the wrong job so to speak. I wish they would quietly disappear and live meaningful lives away from the media . Stop strutting around demanding attention and likes and just shut up. Everything they do is more tone deaf and venal than the last. It is jaw dropping how insensitive and grasping they are. It’s exhausting to watch and read about but somehow it’s compulsive because it’s just not believable really.

Sorry for being late to the party, but from what I can tell, two British mainstream newspapers have published articles pushing back against the "H&M are evil" narrative. I understand that many are eager to see their downfall and will seize on any story that appears to confirm their biases. However, I hope most reasonable people will wait for a more measured and accurate account to emerge.

Harry has fearlessly taken on the tabloids and others in court, and it's no surprise that these forces are impatient to see him fail. To be clear, H&M are no saints—but now that they are fully independent, they must work to sustain themselves. Meanwhile, some seem all too eager to bury them based on hearsay rather than waiting for a more substantiated version of events.

Wikipedia is a red herring as others have pointed out easily maliciously edited. Though malicous edits on a high profile story rarely last long.

The Telegraph – https://archive.ph/LijV4#selection-3467.0-3471.84

"When the board urged Ms Chandauka to resign, she launched legal proceedings in the High Court, prompting mass resignations. 'She’s a very poisonous woman and it’s very sad it’s come to this,' a source said."

The Times – https://archive.ph/027Md#selection-1623.0-1623.274

"Baroness Chalker of Wallasey, who served as a trustee of Prince Harry’s African charity for nearly 20 years, has described its chairwoman’s 'almost dictatorial' style, which led to clashes and ultimately prompted her, the prince, and other trustees to leave the organisation."

This has already been discussed and discarded!

He’s a mischievous guy and not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has a big heart, and for that, I’ll forgive him almost anything. And it seems many share that view—he still manages to draw crowds and inspire people, and that might be his biggest "crime." He was meant to be the spare, quietly supporting the heir, not a broken but lovable figure standing outside the institution on his own. YMMV !

I fail to understand the narrative that H has tried to "break free of the system."

Tom Bradby asked H point blank, “Do you still believe in the monarchy?” to which H replied, “Yes.” H was very happy with a hierarchy that placed him in front of his aunts, uncles and assorted cousins. H's only issue is that W outranks him.

So, H has set out to create the American Royal outpost in California, complete with monogrammed doormat, where he is Number 1. Unfortunately, without the vast resources and the supporting cast of men in grey the "American Royals" have only delivered grifters getaways to Nigeria & Columbia and backyard California disaster tourism.

Conundrumseverywhere · 01/04/2025 23:39

He may be broken but he’s certainly not loveable. As for his ‘big heart’. I believed this to be the case once, but not anymore.

Ah that explains it - the Singapore venue wasn’t willing to give it as cheap I guess

Baroness Chalker the trustee that made the claim in my previous post - a woman of irreproachable integrity unless others have evidence to the contrary. In a she said she said tussle I know whose side I would be on. She will not have made those comments lightly.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynda_Chalker

Chalker was granted a life peerage as Baroness Chalker of Wallasey, of Leigh-on-Sea in the County of Essex in 1992,[3] after losing her seat at the general election of that year.

Chalker is the founder and president of Africa Matters Limited, an independent consultancy providing advice and assistance to companies initiating, developing or growing their activities in Africa.[4] She is a member of the international advisory board of Lafarge and sits on the board of trustees of the Investment Climate Facility for Africa.[citation needed]

She is a consultant for Uganda's Presidential Investors Roundtable (PIRT) that advises the president Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, on ways to improve Uganda's investment climate and competitiveness.[5]

Chalker is a member of the board of trustees of Sentebale, a charity set up to reach Lesotho's poorest children, many of whom are victims of extreme poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. She founded the Chalker Foundation, which seeks to support the improvement of healthcare in Africa.

She held the position of non-executive director and chairman of the Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Committee for Unilever, retiring in May 2007, having served three terms of three years. She joined the board of Unilever as an advisory director in 1998, becoming a non-executive director in 2004.[citation needed]

Chalker is a former chairman of the Medicines for Malaria Venture, a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to reducing the burden of malaria in disease endemic countries. She is a former non-executive director of Group Five (Pty). She was awarded the Livingstone Medal by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society in 2000.[6]

In June 2014, Chalker was awarded honorary citizenship of Mozambique by President Armando Guebuza for services to that country.[7]

Chalker was shortlisted for the Grassroot Diplomat Initiative Award in 2015 for her work with Africa Matters, and she remains in the directory of the Grassroot Diplomat Who's Who publication.[8]

In 2018, it was announced that Chalker would take over from Nicholas Crane as president of the Royal Geographical Society

This is proof of nothing in this case.

So between 2022 and 2023 there was an increase in costs spent on fundraising of half a million and that was put down to reduction in the gifts in kind - specifically the venue for the polo

was 2023 the Netflix year?

In her Trevor Philips interview, SC talks about Netflix filming and Meghan turning up last year, in Miami. Perhaps it depends when the Sentebale financial year begins ie financial year 2023/24 would include the Miami event if the financial year ended on 30 April or later. So according to her account, Harry may have cost the charity half a million pounds. Peanuts to a prince.

No it didn’t cover 2024 - it was definitely the 2022 event vs the 2023 event

Well we are all probably grinding axes here surely the reasonable position would be to suspend judegment and hand wring with sadness about the whole affair unseemly as it is. I didn't flounce I had a 7 day suspension that lasted 2 years but I did lurk and saw how this board turned into a Harry and Meghan pile on in the interim. They are no saints nor are they the devil incarnates either.

We have suspended the same judgement as others did previously.

So you’re excusing his misogyny, sexism, racism, misogynoirism and bullying because he has a “big heart”. That says everything I need to know about you! In fact, that sounds like you are condoning his misogynist, sexism, racism, misogynoirism and bulling. Shame on you!

That might have been the perception at one point, but it doesn't wash any more and hasn't for some time. Attacks on his own family with nothing concrete to back them up, horrible comments about disabled matrons at school and dragging private individuals (eg the woman he lost his virginity to) into the public eye with salacious innuendo. This is before we get to orchestrated commentary, only today, on an African woman who dares to contradict him.

You defend that if you want @vera99 and tell yourself it is "mischievous" and "big hearted" all you want. Defend the indefensible, but expect pushback.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-14560353/Prince-Harry-unpleasant-message-Sentebale-boss-revealed.html

The Mail understands that the royal sent the 'extraordinary' text message to Sophie Chandauka demanding to know how she was going to deal with the public debacle involving his wife Meghan, who was being accused of snubbing her at a fundraising polo match.
Sources have described the message as 'basically very unpleasant', 'imperious' and 'fairly extraordinary' in tone, and asking her 'how are you going to deal with this?'
It is understood the message 'would reinforce others people's ideas that he is used to people being subservient to him'.

So it was a text message he sent

so she has the proof!!!

Also, why would you characterise your suspension from MN as "a Serenster post that got me smacked" surely it was your actions that got you suspended not @Serenster posting?

Indeed!

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 01/04/2025 23:47

misogynoirism and misogynism. We all know where they stand and can ignore them from now on!

Apologies if this has already been posted but I am minded to trust the BBC over any tabloid and whilst they are careful to preface any assertions with "according to" it certainly doesn't appear to be a slam dunk case against the hapless couple.

And I was unsighted that Harry had donated £1.3 million from Spare to the charity.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwy0l99w12mo

Both Harry and his friends ( mouthpiece) and supporters have used the most vile and racist tropes against a black woman than most people have ever seen!
it won’t be forgiven, forgotten or swept aside.

Don’t worry, @vera99 has stated that they stand with Harry’s views of misogyny, misogynoir, racism, sexism and bullying because Harry has a “big heart”. This is clearly their view too.
