That was one of their- many - bitter complaints on Oprah, that BP never pushed back on some negative stories. BP have no time or inclination to pick up on every single tiny criticism of members of the RF.
Therefore they are martyrs and social justice warriors because BP didn't challenge a Daily Express story about their supposed yoga room..

They probably didn't want to push back on some of the stories because they knew they were true!

sweetgingercat · 31/03/2025 12:11

The polo incident was wrong on Harry/Meghan’s behalf and would be really irritating. But Sophie Chandauka is also incorrect for touring the news rooms and the Daily Mail to diss the trustees and board members.

What she should have done was smile and say nothing, thank them for their support in getting the charity off the ground and supporting it in the early years to the point where it can now fulfil all its functions locally, further empowering African communities as the charity pledged to do. That would be a positive message that reinforced Sentebale’s goals.

Since she brought out ALL the laundry over the weekend, it is just a toxic charity. Who else would want to get involved with it now?

Profhilodisaster · 31/03/2025 12:14

I don't know how Harry can come back from this, unless what Dr C is saying is untrue (which I doubt). I'm struggling to think of anything he's done since leaving the RF that hasn't garnered criticism. What a mess he seems to have made of everything .

IdaGlossop · 31/03/2025 12:17

Cynic17 · 31/03/2025 09:53

I entirely get the point that Meghan should not have interfered to present the polo trophy.
But. If you have with you international icon and sporting superstar Serena Williams, wouldn't anyone with sense have been pushing for Serena to do the presentation? Did Meghan think that she is a bigger star than Serena?!

Royal wives - Princess Diana, Kate - present trophies to their husbands. Meghan sees herself as royal and that's what royal wives do. She won't even have thought about Serena Williams.

But they were out to damage her professional reputation as a lawyer implying that she was involved in something dodgy when it was Sophie Chandauka who reported irregularities to the CC.

Why did the old guard at Sentebale not keep quiet? Nobody had this story until Harry and his supporters launched an offensive to discredit her in the press and now they are whining because it backfired on them.

Profhilodisaster · 31/03/2025 12:20

@sweetgingercat wasn't she just replying to Harry's resignation statement that he released to the media?

It was Harry that brought it out publicly. SC is responding to his statement.

CoffeeCantata · 31/03/2025 12:24

So in this scenario, when did William and Charles latch onto Sophie Chandauka as their agent of destruction? When she was a Sentabale Board member from 2008 - 2013? Impressive long game, if so!
Or did they manoeuvre behind the scenes to get Sophie appointed again in 2023 and then the scorning happened? Or was she scorned first and then went to William and Harry and said “Get me onto Sentabale, and I can help you”?
So many questions….

@Serenster

Quite!

They seem to think all kinds of intrigue involving phone-calls from the Palace, William's friend who was involved at one time and other dark forces have been plotting to destroy Harry's pet charity out of jealousy. Even from thousands of miles away, the RF's tentacles reach out to try to crush Harry and Meghan because they are so incredibly popular and successful.

The hard-core SS - and those on Celebitchy - will never accept that Meghan or Harry are ever at fault. It's absolutely terrifying. Oh - it goes without saying that they think Dr C has been embezzling funds and ruling like a dictator.

Sure if they are invited to do so - but not at an event where you have declined your invitation and then just turn up without warning to push into the centre of the photos.

I find it equally scary, fascinating and baffling all at the same time!

The Telegraph are now reporting on an "imperious" message from Harry to Dr C after the polo trophy debacle. Ouch!

PullTheBricksDown · 31/03/2025 12:30

That's the most negative article I've ever read about the Sussexes in the Guardian. Bumpy roads ahead.

Lunde · 31/03/2025 12:31

Serenster · 31/03/2025 12:05

Now on Celebitchy (sorry - have to look under that stone sometimes) they're in contortionist mode, desperately trying to twist the facts to fit their narrative of poor bullied Meghan and victim Harry. Their take on the scandal is that it's basically all a Palace plot, with KC and PW pulling the strings to destroy Harry's pet charity out of seething jealousy.
As for Dr C, they figure that she must have tried to seduce Harry (oh God...), been rejected (because the noble white prince loves only the gentle, saintly Meghan) and then decided to attack Harry as a woman scorned.

So in this scenario, when did William and Charles latch onto Sophie Chandauka as their agent of destruction? When she was a Sentabale Board member from 2008 - 2013? Impressive long game, if so!

Clearly playing the long game and such awful people to have actually donated to Sentebale in 2023 ... the nerve of them 🙄🙄🙄

I don't agree Sophie should have smiled and said nothing. The Charity Commission inquiry will take months. Her objective is to save Sentebale. If we take what she is saying at face value, she is able to speak out because she knows she has the evidence. She is speaking in a measured way. Iain Rawlinson and other new trustees add to her credibility. She and the ops team are stressing business as usual in Lesotho and Botswana. If she remained silent, it would look like a squalid board falling out and nothing more.

TheAutumnCrow · 31/03/2025 12:34

You'll often hear people say, "well, you're helping women find their voices" and I fundamentally disagree with that because women don't need to find a voice, they have a voice, they need to feel empowered to use it and people need to be encouraged to listen!’

Woah!

”The Duke of Sussex allegedly sent an “unpleasant” and “imperious” message to the head of an African charity he founded after she refused to issue a statement defending his wife, the Telegraph can reveal.
Prince Harry directly contacted Dr Sophie Chandauka, the chairman of Sentebale, following an awkward exchange she had with the Duchess of Sussex at a charity polo match in Miami last April.
He initially asked his team to contact the Zimbabwean-born lawyer and request she issue a statement quashing any rumours of tension between her and the Duchess.

However, after she refused to be drawn into the row, Prince Harry fired a direct message to her allegedly demanding that she “explain herself”.
According to sources, the note was “unpleasant” in tone and used “imperious” language that left the charity boss feeling taken aback.
The Telegraph understands that her refusal to comply with the request to back Meghan contributed to the bitter dispute that this week saw the Duke resign as head of the HIV children’s charity he co-founded almost two decades ago”

Was this the message about "girls that read too many books" or something similar?

Women: Know Your Place. Smile, STFU and don’t stick up for yourself when someone publicly starts a smear campaign.

She has taken absolutely the correct steps at every point.

If PH and the board believed she was inept/irregular finances - then their duty was to go to the CC - they didnt.

SC went to the CC but didnt announce it.

PH kicked off the press campaign with his usual victim tone - blaming and pointing at others - knowing 'the sussex PR machine' - above and below the line would swing into attack mode.

SC did exactly the right thing to counterbalance with immediate press release, then chose highly credible media outlets The FT and Sky to be inerviewed. Why should she wait politely for a 2 year investigation with no teeth and in that time PH destroys her and the charity.

Is this the final nail in the coffin for H&M?

‘The Duke then contacted her directly to complain about her actions, with sources describing the message as “unpleasant”.

I'm not agreeing with what Meghan did, just trying to understand her thinking. She shouldn't even have been on the stage. It shows how clueless she is that she didn't understand either that at a charity event, the focus should be on the charity chair. I feel for the event organisers.
