More UPF food mixes? Well, there's no cooking from scratch is there? !

It does smack of Lady Bountiful giving the little people a small taste of her magnificence, using inferior products. I am not sure Meghan is getting the tone right.

That's the first thing I thought of! Ken Adams 😄

I'm glad it isn't just me.

Angel Delight . Unashamedly crap processed pudding - I dare not think what went into it - but we loved it.

Butterscotch flavour! It was considered a treat. But pancakes, Victoria sponges, cakes, always made from scratch. I think my mum tried a packet mix once, just to see what it was like.

MayaKovskaya · 31/03/2025 16:56

It's most interesting that very clear judgement was made about the RF and the UK following the many and varied interviews and monologues by the Sussex duo. None of it positive or pleasant, yet many took the claims to be truthful, so very damaging.

Did he meet Regina Falange?

Maybe in Vegas

Oh yes. She was his identical hand twin. Among other things.

all very interesting but i doubt many people in this country would call her African.
just like there are very few identifying as Viking etc.
Always seems a bit silly to identify with a culture/ country you've not really experienced

It never crossed my mind that she was black until I heard she had said she was. (I identify as Viking BTW 😀) When I mentioned to my Gen Z DD that I thought it was absurd that a person so pale, who had described herself as Causian when looking for acting roles, should describe herself as black, a barrage of invective came my way. Understanding better now how people describe themselves in the US, I have more sympathy for MM.

Also I question how high profile Sentebele is. I doubt journalists are checking the charity commission docket frequently for stories.

I agree with you there but Harry is very high profile currently and he set it up with help from others so anything connected to him and his wife appears to attract attention atm,

Cheesecake? Just a burnt at the edges tart 😳

from the looks of it one side of Meghans oven is hotter than the other.

She can describe herself how she wants to. Many people of mixed heritage make different choices, particularly in acting and modelling where "ethnically ambiguous" is a thing. I can't see a problem with that.

There's at least 5 different brands of lemon ginger tea in my local fruit stand.

I buy mine from Aldi. There's a lot of competition in the lemon ginger tea market.

AtIusvue · 31/03/2025 16:44

So while Megs is inviting you to reminisce about Meg eating crepes in France, Harry’s world is falling apart.

What goes on in that bloody house? The whiplash experienced by staff going from room to room- from Harry staring at the wall, having an existential crisis in one room to Meg joyfully staring into the middle distance in another.

Edited

Quite! And I don't want to experience her memories. I'm not part of the Meg Borg.

The bit about the lemon ginger tea certainly gave me that impression:
a fuss-free spin on the warm drink I make at home using fresh lemons from the garden.
The subtext being, imo:
I have the time, the caring inclination and the garden filled with lemon trees so I make this...
You don't.
So why not buy these teabags and pretend you do?

Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion but respectfully, I really don’t need your permission.

I wasn’t giving a lecture. I was expressing my views freely like every other poster on this thread has done.

I have been on Mumsnet for years under different names and I am not part of any lobbying group if that is what you are implying.

I don’t know who lipstickalley is as I haven’t read the other thread.

If you are suggesting that I can’t comment because I happen to disagree with the majority of posters on here, then please say so and I will take it up with Mumsnet HQ.

Do point out where in my post I gave you permission to post or denied you permission to post please?

and obviously as you have quoted me you would have read the first line where I said you were entitled to your opinion!

the rest of your post seems very defensive!
lobby ? What lobby? Odd!

and I don’t care who you are or how long you’ve been here!
you have name changed, it’s allowed it’s not a crime 🤷‍♀️

i myself have not and never have, but that means my posts and length of time I’ve been here is very clear, as is the length of time other recognisable posters.
does that matter? What’s your point here?

yes post as you please, and others will free to reply , disagree or ignore as they please!
we will however not be silenced.

Americans as citizens of a relatively young country looked to the "Old World" for roots. However, due to the entry of Africans into America via slavery, specific countries were not available versus other Americans who could be Irish American or Italian American, hence the catch-all term African American.

It is interesting that on college campuses you now routinely hear of Nigerian Americans and Ghanaian Americans as the newer African immigrants have a country of origin to reflect their roots.

I agree that good actions draw attention, which is why I can't understand why he publically announced he was stepping down. Why not let the process play out and then decide what to do?

Wasn't butter scotch flavour the lesser Instant Whip brand? We weren't allowed Angel Delight at home so I was delighted to make it in washing up bowls at Guide camp. Now, I'd probably hate it. As a student, one if my favourite lunches was Heinz macaroni cheese. I hought some a few years ago as a treat znd couldn't eat it because it was so artificial in flavour.

Uricon2 · 31/03/2025 17:12

Butterscotch Angel Delight is a Proustian madeleine far superior to a pack of faux pancake mix.

Sigh.

I would like everyone to note please that this derail was started by
jeffgoldblum

I was simply stating my views and detest these personal exchanges as I think they are boring for others to read.

Why can’t others simply allow those of a differing opinion to comment freely?

Do you have it in for Republicans or something?

And now you are being disingenuous as you clearly suggested I was repeating what another poster had said.

By saying that I am entitled to my opinion you are giving me permission to comment are you not?

And I do not need your permission, so please lay off!

Oh I totally mis-read that as 'ethically ambiguous'.

(True- I did).
