Ermmm surely you've heard all the things Prince Phillip has said, many of them not great but given this was in public I can't imagine the shite he would come out with being closed doors.
A couple of examples" If you stay here much longer you will all be slitty-eyed," said to British exchange students living in Xian."You managed not to get eaten then?" the Prince asked a British student who had been trekking in Papua New Guinea, in 199.
. "Do you still throw spears at each other?" he asked a group of Indigenous Australians in 2002, while on a visit to Australia with the Queen.

Prince Andrew used the actual N word at an event. Alongside a few other lovely moments.

Why people defend these embarrassments is beyond me.

But behind doors, Philip (and the rest of the family) was obviously the model of non-racist decorum, at least when in H & M's presence. Otherwise M wouldn't have have to talk up a slur she never heard in order to make an accusation of racism against the RF.

Perhaps Philip took the same stop- being-a-racist correspondence course Harry took and managed to purge himself of his tendencies, as H did.

BTW there is a fascinating story behind the "throwing spears" remark that 8ndicates how not-racist it was. I'll try and find it.

I can live with that.

Fair enough! 🤣

TenInchNails · 26/03/2025 15:18

@jeffgoldblum I'm genuinely a bit confused by your post.
Yes realistically, aid and charity money will need to come from wealthier parts of the world. This isn't controversial.

I don't consider the whole of Africa "my people", why would I?

I'm not trying to imply anything. I've tried to correct some misconceptions and cultural misunderstandings, I'm not sure why people who have never set foot in sub Saharan Africa would think they know more about it than me.

Xenia · 26/03/2025 15:21

I have fundamental issues with many charitable organisations and I do think we should have another go to do what George O. when Chancellor tried in reforming tax breaks and charities but he had to back down because the great and the good were so opposed to it. I think the UK needs a root and branch reform of taxation and charities (and over seas aid particularly now 25% of UK foreign aid apparently goes to rich hotel chains in the UK housing relatively rich criminals entering the UK illegally who have paid massive sums to traffickers).

This is getting tiresome now!
obviously you referred to your country, Lesotho , obviously your country is not the entire continent of Africa!
If you don’t understand that people from your own country are your people, I’m not sure what to say!

So much said by people who have no idea of the true reason for him to leave and the whole board of trustees !! Once again it’s used as a stick to discredit Harry .Can we really believe anything the DM prints?

Some of us have been quite frank in saying there'll be a lot we don't knoww, but the wretched Mail didn't make up Dr Chandauka's statement, and while it's true we can't assume that what they publish is the truth the same unfortunately applies to Harry

glitterturd · 26/03/2025 14:52

Beyond the pale - there it is again. I've learnt on here that that phrase is very insulting and racist to certain people. I believe there is a whole thread on site stuff about it. It's a minefield isn't it?

It sure is 😆

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/03/2025 15:40

The Charities Commission findings will be interesting reading

Best hope that, too, isn't covered in redactions, @PigeonDress ...

JandamiHash · 26/03/2025 15:41

Blimey the chair woman’s comments are very damning about Harry aren’t they!

JandamiHash · 26/03/2025 15:42

You may not like the DM but they are still held to the same standards of other news agencies, which is they can’t print made up quotes.

Matters pertaining to a registered charity shouldn't be private information, so you'd hope there wouldn't be any redactions. But you never know where Harry (or any royal) is involved!

Weepixie · 26/03/2025 13:31

Perhaps they have and I’m sure the figures will be available for people to see eventually. But my point, although made badly, was more about the racism involved in the description of those involved as posh white twats.

Would be allowed to refer to people as posh black twats?

eta - I suspect the end of Sentenbale is just around the corner. What’s happening is so ugly it’s better to be put out of its misery.

Edited

Yes, you wonder why Chidauke is Hanging on so tight. The charity must have made significant impact.

JandamiHash · 26/03/2025 15:49

Just realise Dr Chandauka is the woman Meghan shoved to the side at the polo trophy presentation who awkwardly walked underneath the trophy. I thought that was pretty shocking given she’s the Chair woman

Where can I find site stuff pls? I’d like to read the rules about what’s considered not on.

It certainly makes you wonder about the pillow talk going on between Harry and Meghan that resulted in the Chairwoman almost being giving the bums rush out the door by Meghan. It’s easy to see now that the unrest in the Charity has been going on for some time.

When you read Dr C’s statement and see how passionate she is about her charity work and what she does, it must have been utterly galling to be told by a patron’s wife to get to the side when she stays in the middle of a trophy presentation.

RachelLikesTea · 26/03/2025 16:05

'There are people in this world who behave as though they are above the law and mistreat people, and then play the victim card and use the very press they disdain to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct.'

Wow. 😮

Sophie Chandauka told The Sun: 'Everything I do at Sentebale is in pursuit of the integrity of the organisation, its mission and the young people we serve.
My actions are guided by the principles of fairness and equitable treatment for all, regardless of social status or financial means.'

Good on her. She seems to be a formidable woman who truly cares about this charity and the people it can help.

Words · 26/03/2025 16:06

Chidauke - please let's not fawn, infantilise and condescend with this Dr Sophie nonsense just because she is black - she is clearly, like many corporate lawyers, a force to be reckoned with. She has spent most of her life in the UK and US.

Interesting she uses her honorary doctorate but that might be a cultural thing .

Let's see what transpires.

To what extent would the palace now act, though, to negotiate redactions to preserve Harry's reputation?

I absolutely agree the shoving to one side video at the polo thing was beyond rude and totally appalling.

Markle was trying to recreate the iconic shot of Diana and Charles I suspect.

And given their propensity to want to one-up William and Catherine, also recreate the many polo trophy pictures W&C have created

As the Charity Commission will no doubt point out, the trustees of a charity can’t just walk away en masse, leaving it unable to operate. If the chair wasn’t performing, the trustees were entitled to dismiss her as long as they adhered to the terms of her contract. If she’s suing, that suggests they didn’t.

PippistrelleBat · 26/03/2025 16:24

Why is Beyond the pale (pole aka boundary) considered racists? Is it an objection to ‘othering’? Is ‘crossing the line’ also racist? Or has someone jumped on the word ‘pale’ and a lack of understanding of languages and assumed it was a reference to colour not boundary stakes?

As per a poster above who has checked with Companies House, there is a separate board of directors as well as trustees (as charities are usually constructed) so presumably the charity would still be able to function.

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 26/03/2025 14:10

Exactly. All we currently know is that the founders and others have walked, and that the chair has issued a fairly damning statement.

Two sides to every story. I certainly wouldn't be rushing to support or condemn anyone here.

No that's not true.

What we also know is that Dr Chandauka applied to the High Court to apply for an injunction to stop them firing her.

This was granted by the High Court which indicates she has supplied sufficient evidence at this poinb that she would likely win her case.
