Prince Harry again surrounded by racist allegations and more of the same, lots of buts and whataboutery and the classic the daily mail. So many willing to silence or ignore Sophie Chandauka personal statement in the belief of a man who is a racist.

TenInchNails · 26/03/2025 13:31

I'm not quite sure why some people are presenting this as a bunch of "white men" vs a "local". Two prominent Basotho are among those who have resigned, as well as a Motswana woman.

Dr Chandauka is not a local, she's a Zimbabwean.

Because some people just can’t help themselves. It’s who they are.

BemusedAmerican · 26/03/2025 13:36

I just posted this in another thread. This is the new US economic reality. California is one of the states mentioned in the article. Harry has lots of opportunities to make a difference in his new home state

Yep he's so racist he married a mixed race woman who gave him mixed race children 🙄

No one’s ignoring them. Just objecting to the language being used when no one here would dare to say, or get away with saying, posh black twats, posh brown twats etc.

Ive no time for Harry and if he has been unfairly accused of being a racist then it’s no more than he’s done to others and let’s see how he likes it.

I do. But there’s absolutely no proof he’s continued to be a racist. A liar and a fantasist yes. But racist?

This will all come out in the wash and perhaps the racist the woman was referring to was one of the other posh white twats (as they’ve been called) who were also involved in the charity.

Spring025 · 26/03/2025 13:54

I think this is really interesting, Dr Chandauka by all accounts is an extraordinarily accomplished woman, a lady who very clearly knows what she is doing and what she is talking about. It wouldn't surprise me if Harry was completely out of his depth and squandering money left, right and centre on his pals - but the resignations include three Africans which makes it more interesting IMO.

Perhaps they all saw it as an easy going, fun thing where they did a bit of good too - but Dr Chandauka was not impressed and they're all disgruntled now expectations have risen hugely?

Words · 26/03/2025 13:55

Entirely agree @Weepixie . What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

I have no time for Harry either. But in order to be fair and reasonable, the same principles apply to everyone. Or should do.

As I said previously, I found her statement somewhat unprofessional and very similar to the sort of inflammatory thinly veiled accusations for which Harry himself has been roundly and correctly criticised.

Let's wait for the evidence. If it's made out, good on her.

Using language such as p••I and r**head whilst in a position of power and when questioned about it diminishing it to unconscious bias. Ignoring the reaction of two women of colour describing (if true as it came from Harry) an incident that they believe was racist and again deciding that actually everyone who took the allegations as a racist allegation are dumb daily mail readers as it again was unconscious bias. Down playing racism is in itself racist

and people of all races can be racist!

LaPalmaLlama · 26/03/2025 13:59

Weepixie · 26/03/2025 13:31

Perhaps they have and I’m sure the figures will be available for people to see eventually. But my point, although made badly, was more about the racism involved in the description of those involved as posh white twats.

Would be allowed to refer to people as posh black twats?

eta - I suspect the end of Sentenbale is just around the corner. What’s happening is so ugly it’s better to be put out of its misery.

Edited

The numbers are there for you to see now on their website (annual report). The fundraising events (predominantly the polo) raised 1.5m in 2023 and they spent around 350k on it, which included market value of gifts in kind (eg prizes and hospitality donated by sponsors). As I said upthread, that sort of margin in charity events is exceptionally good. The rest is largely institutional funding. Reserves are low side of normal. Honestly, the finances don't throw up any red flags.

It seems the board coup is not about that but about the strategic direction, and in particular whether to manage/ direct the charity from South Africa rather than it being HQ'd in London as it has been previously.

IcedPurple · 26/03/2025 14:00

I'm going to reserve judgement until all the facts emerge, if they ever do.

That said, I don't think we need any formal inquiry to know that Harry desperately misses the 'men in grey suits' he so sneered at. They were the ones handling all the boring behind the scenes stuff, while all he had to do was turn up and bask in the glory. Same for all the royals, of course, but at least the others mostly have the sense to let the experts quietly get on with the job while they carry on royalling.

I think I’ll wait for the charity commission to pass judgement before I do.

I don't believe anyone has "passed judgement" but that statement is pretty forceful!!

I’m married to what he described as a rag*d. I have 5 rag*d children and 8 rag**d grandchildren. And when Harry said what he did I saw him for what he is/was.

Please save your lectures for someone else. I’ve lived racism for 52 years. I don’t need any lessons from you and certainly not when all they are is virtue signalling on a forum.

I very much doubt that is the case with Prince Seeiso. He's a highly educated man who has had a successful diplomatic career, and he's personally very dedicated to improving conditions for children sent to work as herdboys.

Meh. He founded and supported a charity which has done a lot of good and will continue to do so after he's walked away......I wonder how many charities the OP has started ? And anyone else moaning over nothing ? 🙄

Honestly I find threads like this absolutely pathetic.

What's the point in commenting on them then?

This is a developing news story. We live in a democracy last time I looked so we have a right to express our opinions.

I think it's a shame whatever has happened as it was one of the very few positive things that Harry had continued to be involved in.

You live with someone, I am someone. This wasn't the 80s it's racist language and should never be reduced to unconscious bias because it gave Harry a free pass.

TenInchNails · 26/03/2025 14:10

The other issue is that, as much as anyone might decry white saviourism, the charity money needs to come from Western counties. It can't realistically be raised locally.

Exactly. All we currently know is that the founders and others have walked, and that the chair has issued a fairly damning statement.

Two sides to every story. I certainly wouldn't be rushing to support or condemn anyone here.

This is not true anymore!
there are many wealthy, successful people of colour in that country.
its about time people realised their tv orientated image of Africa is nowhere close to the truth, it’s a huge and varied place with prosperous areas as well as poorer ones.

And why is that? Because the Chair implemented plans in 2023, to have locals on the board. That means live locally! It doesn’t matter their nationality

For goodness sake. Understand the difference.
