Commissionable links- means when a potential customer clicks on the link, it's attributed to the affiliate, allowing the brand to record the source of the traffic. If someone buys a product using an affiliate link, the brand will pay the affiliate marketer commission on the sale

But she’s not an influencer?

This is really sad actually.

Actually I've completely forgotten what better up as all about!!

Online therapy i think. I never see anything about it here, I assume his presence is an asset for the company in the US.

IdaGlossop · 24/03/2025 18:55

Strictly speaking, the coat money is from Duchy of Cornwall profits, not from us. Reaching further back, though, you could argue the duchy land was seized from the British so the profits should be ours.

If we remove the money from the Duchy of Cornwall and distribute it then it is only fair to do the same to the Duchies of Westminster, Norfolk etc and to the very wealthy who avoid paying tax.

The Royal family are useful camouflage/ alternative public targets to the very wealthy who hide behind them and carry on making ridiculous amounts of money and avoiding tax without scrutiny.

friendlycat · 24/03/2025 19:04

It's all rather tacky getting commission on links to websites.

But it's really not nice using your children in curated shots to promote yourself. That's not tacky, that's exploitation.

just looked it up.
Seems he was CHIMPO which is a very common Japanese slang for penis so that mademe smile.
he was paid $1.2 million per year
he's no longer with them ( anyone know why)
I still can't see hwat it actually did. They seem to align themselves with wishy washy ideas/ projects that don't achieve anything real apart from mutual backslapping about how they're improving lives for so many people.

I had a look on their website and he is still on there.

I get them confused with Better Help which all The Rest Is ... podcasts used to have adverts for at one time.

poppymango · 24/03/2025 19:22

She’s not my favourite person, but she’s just trying to make a living. There’s really nothing wrong with that. Same with her Netflix thing. It’s very much not my cup of tea, but I could say that about half the shows on there. It’s not hurting anyone as far as I can see and she’s got to make money same as the rest of us.

Plenty of RF members have commercial side hustles, and as long as it’s not damaging their image in any way or conflicting with their royal work I really don’t see the issue.

SecretSoul · 24/03/2025 19:27

Keeping Lili and Archie out of the limelight was one of the few big points that Harry and Meghan used to make, and stick to.

As Meghan has increasingly turned to commercial ventures, more shots and "mentions" of the children have started to creep in.

I saw a headline earlier today that bleated something like "Meghan's most personal photo of her children yet!" And my immediate thought was "what's she about to release?" because it was very obvious that it was intended as a PR booster....and yes, here we are.

I don't really care what she sells, I wouldn't buy it, even if I did have the inclination and money to spend $1000 on a beige shapeless dress. I'm not watching her shows either, because I find her insincere and self-indulgent. If people like her stuff, then all power to them. Doesn't affect me in the slightest.

I dislike their lies, their manipulation of the truth, their deliberate actions to hurt others, their entitled attitude, and their habit - particularly Meghan - of making something all about them (marching at the Invictus games eg).

The one and only thing I thought was genuinely principled, was the way they stuck to their guns about not using their children's images. And now they've reneged on that too. Probably shouldn't have been surprised really. Turns out they weren't keeping their kids out of the public eye, they were just saving them for when they'd provide the optimal PR boost.

Mightymoog · 24/03/2025 19:00

vast majority of their wealth has come from us.
It makes me furious

And me. What also makes me furious is that they have so much yet scrabble around for yet more. Cash in carrier bags is not a good look, even if the carrier bags are from Fortnum's.

jeffgoldblum · 24/03/2025 19:44

Mightymoog · 24/03/2025 18:36

they all do it though, don't they.

Doesn't alter the fact they agreed not to use titles etc. and now are but i wouldn't expect integrity from any members of the family and alhough she married in she appears to be cut from the same cloth

Now , now @Mightymoog, I really like you and respect your opinions , so you know I’m never going to discuss anything but Meghan, Harry and perhaps Andrew with you! 😉🤣

Gosh why do people hate her so much enough to care and make a thread slagging her off? Feels like such a waste of your own energy to constantly tear another woman down. I think I know who I feel sorry for - and it's not MM!

What would you prefer people to make threads about in the Royal Family section?

Why waste your energy being sorry for people you don't know?

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 24/03/2025 19:52

MattCauthon · 24/03/2025 17:02

Um, she has a title. That is an actual thing, and she is allowed to use it. Lots of people who have titles do commercial things. I could MAYBE see your outrage if she was using the HRH title but she's not. She IS the Duchess of Sussex. That's just a fact.

I'm still struggling to see the issue here.

What exactly do you expect the royal family to do? Tell people they can't pay her?

I expect Meghan to stick with the agreement not to monetise her royal title. It's cheap and tawdry. She was very quick to point out that she is now 'Meghan Sussex"! Why not use that?

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 24/03/2025 19:55

CatsChin · 24/03/2025 17:08

Oh so it's a governance issue you are worried about.

She isn't using the word 'Royal' or HRH. She is allowed to use Duchess of Sussex.

Do you get this wound up about Lord Sugar hawking his title?

I never knew Sugar was a member of the royal family!!! 😂

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 24/03/2025 19:58

MattCauthon · 24/03/2025 17:11

It's funny. I'm not particularly bothered by the royals one way or the other, and yet I seem to know more about what was and was not agreed.

They agreed not to use HRH. It was specifically referenced in the press, ad nauseum, at the time. How on earth people are translating that to mean they agreed not to use their titles is completely beyond me.

You're "not particularly bothered"?

OK...

Bontonbonbon · 24/03/2025 19:59

This is such a cheap move from her. But is shows who she’s always been: completely grasping, tone deaf and self centred.

Here peasants, have a look at my wildly expensive wardrobe while I whine about all the things I was denied by the RF. Except I’m keeping all the money and titles they gave me. All the British are racists and the empire is bad. Except when I’m giving cutesy British tea parties on my lifestyle show which is all about me.

What a grifter.

Now for some reason reading your post has reminded me of something 🤔,
the so called “sandringham” summet !
in Harry’s book he told us that there were several options on the table … but he was angry because they only printed up the fully out option… now ignoring all the unnecessary diatribe about men in grey and printer ink .
they apparently presented him with a written agreement of the terms and I’m pretty sure he had to sign it ?
now I’m wondering what exactly was on that paper? , what was the agreement? Did he actually sign it?
is it binding?
because if he’s gone against that agreement, I wonder what the outcome would be and what he was told it would be!

YourLuckyPearlGoose · 24/03/2025 17:28

Not an influencer? 2.6m followers on Instagram, the Daily Mail follows her every move and a new series on Netflix and people love to talk about her (this thread is a case in point).

Meghan’s hot commercial property for a brand partnership. I don’t particularly like her, but they get no money from the civil list or royal family and have to make their own way like the rest of us.

Who cares if she’s flogging dresses now?

Did "the rest of us" inherit millions from dead relatives?

StartupRepair · 24/03/2025 20:03

I think from day 1, Meghan saw being royal as a huge financial opportunity which was waiting to be exploited.

mainecooncatonahottinroof · 24/03/2025 20:04

Spectre8 · 24/03/2025 17:30

How? She didn't decide to call the dress Windsor. It's actually a nice dress, so not surprising she included it. What is she meant to do avoid any word related to royal.🙄

Yes, actually, since she so comprehensively dissed and mocked the royal family!!

I'm amazed at your ability to know the inner workings and personal thoughts of these people. You really do have a superpower! 👏

It’s common knowledge in the U.K. that the aristocracy and upper classes have always looked down on “trade” it doesn’t need amazing ability to know this !
even Catherine had to put up with being mocked because her mother used to be an air hostess “ doors to manual “ .

It's weird how the people who chastise everyone on threads about the woman all, without fail, use the word 'hate'. Not gossip/bitching/slagging off etc. always hate.
They never paste in any examples of the hate that's upsetting them so much, which would help others to understand.
Is merely discussing a minor celebrity 'hate'? Confused

Give them a bye ball. They don't seem to understand what "hate" is.

BasiliskStare · 24/03/2025 20:19

Hmmmm - I note there are no Hermes blankets on there which Ted Sarandos has assured us Meghan can shift like water to a thirsty man in a desert. 😉
