Commissionable links- means when a potential customer clicks on the link, it's attributed to the affiliate, allowing the brand to record the source of the traffic. If someone buys a product using an affiliate link, the brand will pay the affiliate marketer commission on the sale

But she’s not an influencer?

This is really sad actually.

Ah so it's not a jam then more fruit based then...weird

Sooooo... while jam is her jam, her jam is not jam?

Good to know!!😂

Gosh why do people hate her so much enough to care and make a thread slagging her off? Feels like such a waste of your own energy to constantly tear another woman down. I think I know who I feel sorry for - and it's not MM!

I feel the same way as you. This comes from these peoples own insecurities and fear of discovering who they really are themselves so it's easier for them to judge and hate others.

EmpressOfTheThread · 29/03/2025 07:00

Why on earth do people say there's "hate"?!
There's no hate on here. Criticism isn't hate, as posters keep having to explain!

Conundrumseverywhere · 29/03/2025 07:02

Some people seem to struggle with the difference between hate and criticism or analysis. It’s a feature of the world we live in where everything is so polarised. It’s one extreme or the other with nothing in between. Social media is partly to blame.

Weepixie · 29/03/2025 07:23

I saw something that showed the spread being trickled down onto something underneath it. It was more like a thickish runny liquid than a spoonful of jam that comes off the spoon as a lump.

Not necessarily you, but when there are regular posters who are writing endless posts that sneer, ridicule, laugh at, demean a woman day in day out, one can only presume it must be hate, or maybe 'dislike intensely' would be more palatable?

It's not what is "palatable" as a term. It's what is actually posted. If you see "hate" then report it. I would, because apart from the fact it's unacceptable, it goes against talk guidelines.

I agree with this. There are people who use the word "hate" very readily, when what they mean is disagreement. There's a thread on here at the moment where a lot of people are disagreeing with the OP, and someone has said that she's "getting a lot of hate". No, she isn't. She posted something controversial, and people are disagreeing.
It's as if some people have lost all nuance in discussion, which is a shame.

I am not talking about single posts and are they 'hate' or not. I am talking about what the posters I said about feel about Meghan

Quite.
Take "hate" and "bash" away from some people and you'd severely limit their vocabulary.

What people feel can only be expressed by what they write.
I reported someone who claimed that Meghan had worked as - shall we say - a hostess of sorts. It was misogynist, ridiculous, harmful and nasty. It was deleted. We just have to do that.

I don't understand why anyone would look at what she has to offer and think .. 'oh yes, I know what I really need, a boring white shirt and a boring white pair of trousers which I can wear while I spread boring jam on my toast'.

It's so odd.

I can buy jam from Tesco for 39p for a large jar. If I want slightly nicer jam it might set me back a pound or even two. But the 39p jam is actually quite nice.

If I want to buy a white shirt or a white vest top or white trousers, I can buy them anywhere at all for very little money.

Why would anyone want to spend far far over the regular price tag for what are basically essentials like jam and vest tops? Especially when the jam doesn't even meet the requirements to be jam and is just a spread???

I honestly have no idea who these essentials are aimed at? and who the hell would buy them?

Jam is essentially fruit and sugar. A very basic product which seems like an odd choice on which to base your 'elevated' brand, especially as this is the rather unappetizing sounding 'spread' rather than actual jam.

What is Meghan's selling point here? Is the fruit organic? Plucked by the Duchess' fair hand? Are proceeds going to charity? In other words, why would someone order from 'As Ever', pay above the odds and wait for delivery when even a posh jar of jam can be had in the local supermarket for a few quid? Are people supposed to buy it simply because Meghan married a prince?

Yes, if you're going to charge, presumably, a lot of money for a basic product in a time of economic turbulence, you really need to show why your brand is so special. There doesn't seem to have even been an attempt at that with 'As Ever'. It's just 'I'm Meghan Sussex. Buy my 'spread'.

Maybe the 'Keepsake Packaging' is the draw?

Weepixie · 29/03/2025 08:30

I suspect the spread has gone down well amongst guests who’ve stayed with Harry and Meghan and they’ve said “this is so good, have you ever thought of selling it.” So she took them at their word and …….

Possibly! Sometimes certain kinds of people believe flattery as an indication of their inherent abilities.

How on earth can you know what other people feel ?

That's physiologically impossible.

Are you also telepathic and can also read their thoughts?

BasiliskStare · 29/03/2025 08:51

@IcedPurple "Maybe the 'Keepsake Packaging' is the draw?"

Well perhaps 😉 I think it is likely to put a lot of people off , such over the top packaging for such a little jar. But I could see - depending on the price - an option for the packaging working for people who want to give someone a little present but don't want to spend a lot - so like a gift wrapping option. Or who are trying to do eg a Fortnum's hamper themselves on the cheap (nothing wrong with that - I made a really lovely hamper for my FIL's 80th birthday many years ago which was had some "posh" versions of things he liked inter alia and presented beautifully. This may sound a bit rubbish to those who don't know just exactly how difficult FIL was to buy for 😊)

But a very small container of an everyday item for everyday which comes every time in that packaging, I don't care how recyclable it is , it's one more thing to throw away and would put me off from the get go. Also I assume the jam has to go in the fridge so the packaging gets binned straight away. (Although I have helpfully suggested some ideas for it yesterday at 20.50. ) I'm trying my best to be even handed here. I may stop.

JADS · 29/03/2025 09:04

Moving away from the jam/spread chat for a second, I've just popped onto the ShopMy site to see how the Meghan items are selling. There's seems to still be good availability on the few items I checked out if people are still interested.

JADS · 29/03/2025 09:05

Back to jam chat, it's just such a weird product to base a brand on.

Meghan put it on a banana. That was just really odd.

CesarSoubreyon · 29/03/2025 09:05

Items like jam have a ceiling on price point, you can't really go too high without it being ridiculous, after all it's only jam (or spread)!

I don't understand why she don't go the fragrance or jewellery route, you can really add extra value to these products through all the special frills and packaging which is what she seems to like to do. Also, you can pretty much pick your price on them and rich people will pay it. Jam and cupboard basics are an odd choice and won't make her a billionaire if that's what she is after.

MaturingCheeseball · 29/03/2025 09:07

The word “spread”…. it’s redolent of a rather unpleasant own-brand butter. And it’s a bit (ahem) downmarket , like “marge” . Next she’ll be selling “picky bits” - absolute shudder .
