Commissionable links- means when a potential customer clicks on the link, it's attributed to the affiliate, allowing the brand to record the source of the traffic. If someone buys a product using an affiliate link, the brand will pay the affiliate marketer commission on the sale

But she’s not an influencer?

This is really sad actually.

I think that's also the idea behind trying to claim 'Sussex' as a surname, so they can justify clinging on to it even when they are no longer the Duke and Duchess.

My entirely speculative theory is that there have been conversations behind the scenes around H&M 'voluntarily' giving up use of the Sussex title, and that is what's driving the slightly odd public conversations around Sussex being their family name, to make it awkward for the title to be dropped. I have no evidence for this but I don't otherwise see the point of the 'Meghan Sussex' rebrand.

Personally I think it could be paving the way to reclaim “Sussex Royal” at some future point.

Their instagram oage under that name, and it’s nearly 9m followers, is still live, though obviously inactive since 2030

The Queen's statement 4 years ago was very clear that they were not to use 'Sussex Royal', prompting the snide and petty retort about how 'nobody owns the word royal'.

I don't think anyone is too bothered by her using the Duchess title to merch, but if they ever tried to use 'royal' for commercial purposes I do think Charles would have to respond.

Hmm.

'Edinburgh' reverting to the crown when Eddie turns his toes up.

'York' and 'Sussex' now too toxic for generations to come.

It's not looking good for those made-up senior gongs 😎

Oh bore off

That account was set up by their communications team at the time - the palace comms will have been highly remiss if they haven’t made sure that account it locked down and inaccessible by now.

She looks completely different now, anyway. Like a different person.

She really does. It’s quite weird.

Baital · 26/03/2025 22:34

I wonder if they would? There's not much the RF could do about it.

But that would mean admitting that they still wanted to be part of the RF, which would mean swallowing a lot of pride...

I look forward to events!

I think Charles will leave well alone, he's not going to do anything like that.
Harry is his son, I'm sure he would want a reconciliation and to see the grandchildren, but H&M too selfish and petty even to arrange that, even for a sick elderly man.
They're best just left to get on with it now.

She really does. It’s quite weird.

She has had 'work' done that has not elevated her. She was stunning in 2018. Less so now although still striking.

BBC News - Meghan's new Netflix show renewed for second series

It's the picture from the Netflix thing. Her whole face is different.

EmpressOfTheThread · 26/03/2025 22:45

Sorry, I don't think that link to the BBC article is working, but I was just struck by the recent images of her.

I had a look and the makeup is part of a ‘wedding edit’. She got married almost seven years ffs. Just another opportunity to remind us that she was once part of the royal family and was a princess for the day. To be fair, the makeup was the only thing correctly done for the church ceremony.

It's repayment for Uncle Daniel.

I wonder about this too, although I also think his wife might try to talk him out of it as it might be construed as vindictive. Letting them do their own thing has certainly shown H & M to be shallow grifters with a very loose relationship with the truth, no sense of their own ridiculousness, and egos the size of a planet. They have done enough damage to their own reputation without the RF saying a word.

Edited

I think William will ‘wield the sword’ (love that expression!) as per Queen Margrethe of Denmark, I think he will want to nip all this nonsense in the bud before Archie and Lily become of age and the whole sorry saga continues into the next generation.

EmpressOfTheThread · 27/03/2025 07:31

I think giving their daughter the name Princess Lilibet Diana is very calculated. That's her future mapped out.

I didn’t recognise her at first on the GP reel. I thought there would be more comment on that. I think GP has been very canny about it as she was starting to look a bit mean girl so has nipped that in the bud. Of course MM jumped at the chance but she looks very uncomfortable in the clip. Comedy acting is definitely not her forte.

GP was in a relationship with Chris Martin for a long time. Some might see him as a bit humourless, but GP has always struck me as having a bit of a British sense of humour and doing a lot of things very tongue in cheek. I don't think she was being a 'mean girl' but she played this brilliantly. You're right Meghan looks really awkward.

ThePoshUns · 27/03/2025 09:14

Yes GP has played a blinder and definitely comes out of it on top.

JSMill · 27/03/2025 09:33

@ThePoshUns @JADS so basically your interpretation is that GP didn’t want to come across as a mean girl so put a spin on it? That’s what my gut said.

glitterturd · 27/03/2025 09:35

They are all playing a part in this world of theirs cosying up to others.

Oh yes, Gwyneth definitely has a sense of humour, and is happy to send herself up. Here she is at the launch of one of her Goop offshoots…

Thedom · 27/03/2025 09:40

Yes, and it was Gwyneth in the driving seat, hair a mess, wearing her glasses, no makeup, possibly in her pyjamas, leading the reel. By contrast, Meghan is well presented and clearly the visitor.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 27/03/2025 18:46

I do think GP was doing a bit of stirring, remember when she suddenly followed the shop ‘As Ever’ when Meghan announced her new name replacing ARO, and also remember when the headlines a while back when it was claimed Harry and Meghan were out having lunch with Gwyneth and Cameron Diaz and then Gwyneth tweeted she was home with her children (or something like that I can’t quite remember), I think GP knew what she was doing and the faux wide eyed clip from GP doesn’t fool me, in this case I think Meghan has been used a bit by GP to get attention on herself and her brand, or if not that she has had her knuckles rapped by her agent as it doesn’t reflect well on her all these little things like drinking from a mug with a crest on it and her bestie Tracey Anderson “cooking in her actual kitchen” comment, I think GP has a touch of the mean girl herself.

Totally disagree. I thought she did a great clip, it was amusing, you can tell she's had an acting career. 🙂

I think this is about right.

We know from the recent article on GP (can't remember if it was Vanity Fair or Hollywood Reporter) that GP doesn't know MM, let alone consider her a friend, so the whole friends thing in the kitchen is clearly staged. I think the Paltrow's boring/breakfast video was a piss take that had the right amount of plausible deniability, so Paltrow could easily move into "raising up other women" mode should the reaction tip into accusations of her being a bully. She has form for this, she did something similar with one of the Kardashians (who basically copied her brand).

glitterturd · 27/03/2025 19:07

Meghan looks so awkward on that - she doesn't really do comedy does she? 😂
