That's my money. There will be no products.

There will be less interest in a second series, there isn't going to be a run on their products.

BasiliskStare · 11/03/2025 18:27

@JADS - I suspect it was really no more expensive to film two series than one. And if they could do that under the umbrella of the current contract why not? And it gives them two goes at publicising the merch ( Oh I'm all up with the buzzwords now 😂)

It was a little disingenuous methinks though to portray it as a second series, which has entirely different connotations .But, dare I say, she does seem to play a bit fast and loose with the truth. Even People had said it has already been filmed - so easily checked.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 11/03/2025 18:32

Asever doesn't even have a million followers on Instagram

The only reason I can think Netflix are pandering to MM is because they want be her go to for whatever reality show/ Diana x Bashir-esque interview she inevitably ends up doing. The woman has no talent for anything other than talking about herself as a victim of evil royals. They may as well cash in on it.

MidnightTales · 11/03/2025 19:32

Vanessa Feltz has sone a pretty funny parody: From Vanessa With Love 😁

Are there any products yet ?

I saw a clip of the Drew B interview where MM is talking about being away from the kids and recording herself reading a story that she says 'whoever is putting , then corrects herself when Poppa is putting the kids to bed can play it to them' I don't get the impression he does much of the real work.

Yes she realised she was messed that up and tried hard to correct it quickly...

'whoever is putting....' sounds like any randomer is doing childcare - I would have thought front of mind would be her own Mum Doria that she would mention if she helps out with baby sitting?

But would anyone believe her ? Also , if H and M do divorce I am pretty sure she will want to cling on to her title so any settlement will involve strict conditions.

glitterturd · 11/03/2025 19:56

It's not showing in the top ten on my Netflix.

FarmerDramaLlama · 11/03/2025 19:57

I saw something on Twitter. They were saying people weren’t just hate watching, they were watching so they can join in the conversations online. They all know now what it’s about now so there’s little reason to watch the second season - very few people are watching it for content/recipes.

I agree the momentum for products has been and gone. The fools who have bought dried flowers elsewhere to sprinkle on their kids food probably won’t buy it again.

glitterturd · 11/03/2025 20:01

It seems there was even less interest in the USA than the UK.

glitterturd · 11/03/2025 20:05

@FarmerDramaLlama I agree there will be some of that - a friend of mine said today " oh I suppose I should watch one". I watched the first one as I had a pile of ironing to do - never was ironing so interesting 😂. It's a victim of its own notoriety as there are just so many pieces out there on it.

I thought Marina and Richard were very fair. Richard was more positive saying that he felt you could make a good show with Meghan, this wasn't it. Richard is a very successful producer so I truly believe he could get a decent show out of Meghan if he wanted to. Marina just sounded defeated by it all, poor woman watched the whole lot. I thought it was interesting that they said it started off on the wrong foot being at someone else's house.

I think it was interesting to compare it to Drive to Survive which has been massive for Formula 1 even if it is a sport soap opera. DTS is completely fake, but has just enough believability to get people on board. DTS has made F1 a lot of money so I think NF felt H&M could possibly do the same.

I think you probably could make a good show with Meghan, as long as she wasn't in charge.

What was really sad in the podcast was both Marina and Richard thought that some outlets were keeping loose ties with Harry and Meghan to cash in in the event of a divorce. I hope it isn't true (the theory not an imminent divorce I doubt that will happen) but they do seem to know what they are talking about

StartupRepair · 11/03/2025 20:16

@MidnightTales it is the virtue signalling
Every 'kind' act seems as if it is done with an eye on how it will be recounted to her favour.

BasiliskStare · 11/03/2025 20:36

@FarmerDramaLlama "They were saying people weren’t just hate watching, they were watching so they can join in the conversations online." .This was Marina Hyde's point when they reviewed the trailers on "And the rest is Entertainment " Hate watching is not because you hate someone , it's that if something is controversial people like to see the programme so they can join in the conversation - even if it negative. I think the problem is those who watched out of curiosity etc and thought "got it" but weren't beguiled by the programme might not try the 2nd drop unless convinced it will be different.

One thing I will say is there doesn't seem to have been a run on dried flowers - even if not As ever ones . Not like the sainted Delia and cranberries - anyone remember that.

All my opinions are my own - others are available. 😊

Depends. Depends on what she has on Harry, more than anything. And what he's strong enough to prevent her from disclosing in a divorce settlement. And what he's offering v what Netflix will pay her. And whether the RF will leave him to sort out his own mess or intervene and carve out something watertight for him. Divorce won't stop her being "Duchess of Sussex". The way she styles herself currently - "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex" is the way the title would be used upon divorce.

Thedom · 11/03/2025 20:40

Netflix have released their weekly ranking. no. 10 in the global ranking for last week, pretty miserable result considering how Netflix pushed it, but even worse it only reached no.10 in the US, which is her market, that is who this show was aimed at, the Americans liked it even less than the Brits did.

MaturingCheeseball · 11/03/2025 20:51

Just watched the episode with the Asian businesswoman who does cooking and skincare. It was SO BORING!! And the compliments every two seconds to Meghan, which she demurely accepts every time.

This was the lowest point - surely even the Fanniest of Fans couldn’t have found this episode riveting/inspiring/elevating.

Vespanest · 11/03/2025 21:02

I do love reading the spin on other social media sites with people tying themselves in knots. From no one cares about the irrelevant backward salty island with their toxic press and now blaming these irrelevant people for global sabotage. The newish one is beans on toast island which I guess could be elevated with flowers.

I’m not a Meghan fan but found the whole thing fascinating and hilarious at the same time. At least she’s not attacking Catherine.

I have a huge crush on Richard Osman because he is a genius, but he is really humble with it.

I completely agree that of they do divorce the sharks will circle. Both Marina and Richard seemed quite sad about that. They both seem like nice, fun people you would happily sit next to at a dinner party and know you would get some amazing chat. Their podcast is very good.

I find Marina much softer on the podcast than she is in some of her columns. I bet they have some fun stories they can't tell on air.

@FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger I agree.

  1. If they divorced ( and I genuinely hope they don't - whether I believe the PDAs or not I do hope they are happy together ) yes she would be entitled to keep hold of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex until she remarried - Like Lady Colin Campbell , Duchess of York etc. So that isn't really one for debate - that's a precedent which I doubt anyone would change for her.
  2. What Harry could offer vs what NF would pay - I honestly doubt whether Harry has enough personal wealth to shell out what she might want as a settlement and even KC might blanche
  3. They might hold out for an NDA but if I were KC ( which I am not ) I would be tempted to say publish and be damned. She might have some stuff on Harry - perhaps harshly I think that's on him. Given the half truths lies etc re the RF - I am seriously not sure they think there is anything else to come they can't ride out. Now she did say I can say what I like - not sure how much of a threat that is.

As @MrsLeonFarrell said re ATRIE "What was really sad in the podcast was both Marina and Richard thought that some outlets were keeping loose ties with Harry and Meghan to cash in in the event of a divorce. " I don't think Richard and Marina were being gleeful are they going to get divorced gossips - just in the light of things which have been written - she's approached a publisher etc - which I think VF said - there is no evidence for this - they were talking abut income streams. But like Mrs L and others I really hope they don't get divorced. Whatever I think of them - I would prefer them to be happy together.

Slowly people feel they can say what they want without being accused of the usual!
