I don't have any interest in celebrities generally so can't say if Meghan is alone in how she presents.
I took little notice of both of them up until the Queen's death and the hoo-ha over Spare, I was vaguely aware they did an interview with Oprah, but didn't watch it and generally took the view that anything said in the media about any of the Royal family is a load of nonsense.
I do remember stumbling across the statement they made at the time they were leaving the Royal family to become financially independent, and thinking 'how the hell are they going to do that?' Then thought no more about it. Never occurred to me they'd be so rash as to do what they actually did, talk about burning your bridges!
I imagine that WLM is simply her fulfilling her obligations with NF and that by this time next year As Ever (if it still exists), will be followed by only her staunchest supporters and critics.

I'm reading that 526,000 households watched this show on its first 5 days on Netflix. That's a drop in the ocean.

@glitterturd I think Marina Hyde said the proof of the pudding will be when Netflix produce their 6 monthly figures. (I don't understand all this so no follow questions please 😂 ) But for something so widly prblicised and talked about I would have thought a few days in the top 10 then dropping out isn't brilliant. If she carries on getting word of mouth recommendations and it hovered there or thereabouts that might be enough for NF , given this seems to be a vehicle for As ever. All not releasing the next one until later in the year I suppose does give time for edits based on the feedback.

^ Absolutely. The money issue is never addressed or referred to.

Marina said that it was Number 6 in the UK the morning it was released, when all the reviews were also released. But she said it dropped out of the top ten by the afternoon, showing that people weren't watching the whole thing.

For anyone who wasn't aware this was on The Rest is Entertainment podcast.

Not sure how it was even in the top 10 at all with those paltry viewing figures. All the others in the chart have views in the millions.

@BasiliskStare I can't remember who introduced me to the Rest is Entertainment but I know it was someone on here. I will listen to it as it's brilliant podcast.

I think it peaked in the UK at number 4 not 6 and also achieved 4th in Canada, but it's dropped out of the top ten now.

I do think NF tried to bury this by screening it in January. I can't believe there is another 8 episodes of this dross.

How do you find out the weeks viewing figures?

No idea but the Blind Gossip threads seem pretty sure that NF have been fudging the Top 10 lists and WLM has been less popular even than we thought.

What we do know is is that gossip int he RF brings in huge viewing figures. I wonder if people wanted to see if there’d be any of that before giving up.

I gave up at when she started making dog biscuits. And even then I nearly gave up when she was sitting in a greenhouse saying if her kids were here they’d play inside then go out run about. Who the fuck would have a 3 and 5yo playing in a greenhouse. One wonders how much parenting is actually done!

Netflix are very invested in this, not just the 'show' but the products it showcased.

They are the partner in Meghans lifestyle brand, so I'd they drop the show they lose the infomercial selling from the show. So it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they manipulated the algorithms and data.

I still don’t understand why you can’t buy the products. The momentum has gone already. Unless Netflix wait for the reception to the first tranche of shows before hitting the button on production so they’ll be available for the next set of shows. I know nothing of this world, but the whole thing - With Love, Meghan and the As Ever stuff all seems a bit odd .

I thought Marina and Richard were very fair. Richard was more positive saying that he felt you could make a good show with Meghan, this wasn't it. Richard is a very successful producer so I truly believe he could get a decent show out of Meghan if he wanted to. Marina just sounded defeated by it all, poor woman watched the whole lot. I thought it was interesting that they said it started off on the wrong foot being at someone else's house.

I think it was interesting to compare it to Drive to Survive which has been massive for Formula 1 even if it is a sport soap opera. DTS is completely fake, but has just enough believability to get people on board. DTS has made F1 a lot of money so I think NF felt H&M could possibly do the same.

I don't understand this. It feels monumentally odd.

The splitting the series into two also seems odd. Unless NF had some weird contractual obligation to give Meghan 2 serieses of the show, it makes no real sense. I did think it was hilarious that she tried to sell it as a second season even though it really isn't.

Everything about this is just so damn weird and pointless.
