Yes it will. Threads have been deleted for that sort of thing.

Why can't you read the thread if you're curious? This is getting into a major derail.

Because it's 25 pages long and you seem to be know who these strange royal loving anti royalists are

Unless you're actively trying to get this thread deleted, it might be best to leave this line of discussion now.

Blood royal is an interesting concept. The only person who I've heard use it in the medieval context is Andrew about his "blood royal princesses" which is yet more evidence of his arrogance and entitlement.

I agree.
Will "Prince Archie Harrison" (hammer home that his father is Prince Haich - who would ever have doubted it?) and "Princess Lilibet Diana" ( hammer home... oh, Godsake, can't be bothered) ever guess who they're related to...
And why that apparently makes them important in a Republic.

Did the paperback of Spare ever appear?

Yes , I saw a copy in a charity shop for 99p .

Ok, so there isn't anyone with a bizarre royal loving repulican standpoint.
Yes, best to leave it

I was reading some of the reviews and they are just brutal . For a moment I actually felt sorry for her but then I remembered the bullying, lying , nastiness to the RF ( especially W and C ) and the dropping of people no longer of use and I thought no , the criticism is well deserved .
I am really not sure where she goes next . And to think that 5 years ago there were rumours about her running for political office .

Nice try. Go and read some historic threads. And if reference to royal titles gives you second had embarrassment, you must be a hot mess being on these royal threads all the time.

DuchessOfPort · 06/03/2025 08:55

I watched a clip of the rainbow fruit thing on YouTube. It’s so weird when the stills lead you to think it might be good. She’s so photogenic and the surroundings and light is wonderful and yet… she is B.A.D. at this. No eye contact, not even charm really - a sort of self satisfaction at her great idea and stilted sentences.

Sorry, definitely best to leave it I think as I'm not really getting what you're on about.
I just wanted a quick exaple of a republcan who wants to have people acting as members of the royal family but you seem to be taking it personally

She met with a load of horrible SS in NY a few nights ago. They love harassing and doxxing (they have even tried it on this board). They have been continually thanked by the Sussexes. I don't feel sorry for her at all.

Probably because I find your coy questioning disingenuous.

Anyway, enough of the derail.

Few observations:

1.The American reviews seem to be aware that the show is just to flog stuff. Perhaps they are more used to this type of advert format, that just doesn’t happen on terrestrial tv in the UK.

NYPost and the Washington Post both highlight that this show is just a vehicle for As ever products.

2.NYpost review is very very funny :

https://archive.md/g4nfM

‘Uh, I don’t think anyone in the world knows that Meghan Markle has eaten Jack in the Box and loves it,” Kaling gushes with the plastic enthusiasm of a QVC host who has to move a few hundred units of sequined cardigans by midnight.
But the duchess corrects her. She’s Meghan Sussex now, bitch.’

3.I’ve seen lots of comments online about her lack of eye contact, social awkwardness, moving her head constantly, bad posture, rapid blinking. Questioning what’s going on with her. That’s never happened on such a scale. A video of her talking to Drew about how she met ‘ H’ …it’s excruciating. Minimal eye contact, constantly moving her head away, blinking like she’s malfunctioning, nervous energy flying all over the place. Drew looks like she’s thinking what the fuck is going on.

4.Feels like the US has found her out too- to be nothing special. Very basic, bland, with zero skills or self awareness. She’s revealed herself to be the empty vessel South Park depicted her as.

5.Im pretty certain I recognised that sitting in the Drew Barrymore audience, were some of the dedicated young ‘Tig fans’ whom we seen with Meg , at the NYC As ever launch. Que sycophantic applause.

6.Universally panned. Scathing reviews. The correcting Mindy moment going viral. I don’t even think we predicted it would be this bad. It’s so bad.

It will and it has because naming names is seen as a goady, personal attack. I don’t think it is necessarily on this thread, but there have definitely been cases of posters who have more or less said “I’m a republican, but the sun shines out of the Sussexes arses”. They claim to be republicans but in actual fact they are not, they are Sussex fans who use the term republican just to denigrate the rest of the RF. So faux republicans if you will. Hope this makes it clearer so that you don’t have to keep insisting that either names are named or it’s not true. There are actual republicans on this board who also see the Sussexes as worthy of scorn as members of the RF. There are faux republicans who would quite happily embrace the monarchy if the Sussexes ascended to the throne

NormaMajors1992coat · 06/03/2025 09:27

Yes the "I'm a republican, institution bad, freedom flyers good" shtick was very prevalent for a while. It worked quite well at first with all that "just call me Harry" stuff, a bit of a disguise for fangirling over H+M and being awful about W+C.

But none of those posters could explain the subsequent clinging on to titles and some have repositioned themselves, or at least they sometimes remember not to style themselves republican these days.

FarmerDramaLlama · 06/03/2025 09:29

I can’t believe is she doubling down with the greatest love story ever told. The thing about dating your husband. Did she say that to husband no 1 too. Id be more convinced by the true love if they had just disappeared to live a small quiet life. Not clawing for cash.

If you want a really romantic couple story watch Coleman Domingo on Graham Norton talking about meeting his husband.

Twitter is full of people doing parody videos and MM squad saying the criticism is all racist.

jeffgoldblum · 06/03/2025 09:30

@Mightymoog , do you not remember when I said I would add you to my list of non hypocritical republicans?
Also on the list!

@Puzzledandpissedoff
That is all!

I haven’t watched the whole series just half the first episode but can I ask if Meghan hosts any non white “ friends” .

Vespanest · 06/03/2025 09:38

The "I'm a rebublican but" is nearly as common as "I'm not a fan of but" . It that common you can google the words with mumsnet and Harry and/or Meghan and get plenty of results.

MrsLeonFarrell · 06/03/2025 09:40

The NY Post review is quite nasty. Maybe because there are so many negative reviews that came before, it feels like kicking someone when they are down.

I found this part interesting

"She also reveals that she was once a Girl Scout and sold a lot of cookies, as a girlhood photo of her flashes across the screen. That’s it. Nothing more to add to her scouting history. Just another bullet point to slap on the pile of evidence that she loves nature."

Everything Harry and Meghan have done, Invictus excepted, since they left being working royals, suffers from this tendency of throwing out a snippet as evidence of something that it doesn't really prove. Anyone can say service is universal, anyone can say they want to show up and do good. If you want people to believe you, though, you have to actually do things, not just talk about them. Make a cake from scratch rather than just decorate one. Sadly at this point both of them are coming across as human edible flowers, a superfluous addition to an already completed product.

I hope she listens to the nice reviews and maybe does something where she is the pupil because the snippet of her with the chef was genuinely quite endearing.

I really don’t like the overly nasty reviews, like the NY Post or Julie Burchill. It’s unnecessary and honestly seems like crappy journalism. You can be critical without being cruel.

Exactly. I hope Meghan is reading the more thoughtful reviews because they make useful points she can learn from. But the rest i hope she ignores.

SpreadingJammyTodgerLove · 06/03/2025 09:52

I was watching the Spectator channel yesterday, and the perfectly pleasant reviewer was talking about how the Sussex Squad had previously doxxed his address, wife's and children's identities because he said something negative about MM. So if reasonable critique of these very public, quasi political (by their own choice) figures has resulted in an unreasonable response from their supporters, perhaps said critics no longer care to mince their words - because the reaction from the "fans" will be the same either way.

MaggieMistletoe · 06/03/2025 09:53

Its got me wondering anew if William will be able to take their titles away when he becomes King. I'm not a fan of the royals generally but Harry & Meghan are simply beyond the pale and Meghan's brazen, shameless flaunting of her and her childrens titles with the cringeworthy monograms and 'from the office of..' seriously cheapen and lowers the tone of the entire institution and tradition of the monarchy. William, of course, will be more than aware of that and unlike Charles whose pragmatism will be tempered with parental love and sympathy for his younger son and the mess he's made of his life, William instead will be entirely focused on protecting the integrity and standing of the RF institution for his childrens future.

DuchessOfPort · 06/03/2025 09:53

Julie Burchill was also too vicious for me - Meghan’s bullying, ineptitude in front of the camera, phony claims of racism, isolating her children and husband from their family and simpering about joy are all quite enough ammo to have a go at her without resorting to denigrating her looks.

She looks great. I LOVE pap shots of her. I don’t want to hear her speak much but I do think her casual wear is fabulous.

I also need negative reviews to make me laugh. Not make me wince in unwilling sympathy for someone who I can only manage to hatewatch for 15 seconds before groaning and turning off.

It's very interesting to read this, juxtaposed with the grand statements made at the time of Megxit:

If you say you're a fantastic, good, moral person, then this is the sort of action I expect you to take. Not fart off to a billionaire enclave and occasionally pop out to tell people how good you are - just do it!
