Finally: I'm going to repeat my suspicion that they have no team. When you imagine Harry and Meghan as they might have been without the RF connection, they're (her) a mediocre, cosmetically enhanced, excessively skinny ex-actress past her best and (him) a terminally thick and entitled bozo with issues. They don't deserve to be taken at all seriously and the only reason they are is because of who he was born to. Without A LOT of help, these two have nothing to offer in a very crowded field. They come across as having nothing to offer right now, and that I think is because they have not much help at all.

Exactly.

Being royal is really a great privilege. You can get so much admiration and prestige without being anything special at all. It's the titles, the status and of course the royal machine working diligently in the background which does all the heavy lifting.

I wonder if Harry is still so dismissive of the 'men in grey suits'? Because without them, he's really not up to much. And neither is his wife.

I think you're right that there is an element of emperor's new clothes about their staffing situation. Another reason they are in such a hole is because they left the UK in haste and without a plan, Meghan soothed by Harry's prestigeous lineage and Harry by Meghan's confident and worldly front. They were working in a void, during a pandemic, high on the thrill of their own brilliance in escaping and seduced by three big-ticket deals into trashing the most prominent family in the world. Quite a story.

Sod the cake mixes - what I want to know is why the hell some available products couldn't have been sorted out for when the show's aired

With Netflix supposedly backing it I'd have thought they could provide someone with the expertise to get this across the line, so now I'm wondering if they've deliberately left it to Meghan knowing she'd make a hash of it, as further justification for not renewing the contract

Many corporations of Netflix's size have failed when moving into a new territory. They're digital, not retail.

Part of the problem is that companies like that don't even know the right people to hire, or they don't listen to them.

Hence shelved projects, or partnering with a real expert in the field. Like Google and Rayban.

@BasiliskStare very poignant. ‘Late Flowering Lust’ might strike a similar chord & first verse requires, perhaps, little alteration:

My head is bald, my breath is bad, unshaven is my chin
Ah, to reflect on good old days when Wills & I were ‘in’…

Just found out that our POTUS, Trump, is addressing the Congress on March 4. I know what I'll be watching.

Is he saying " don't watch this show , it's terrible 😂

Ohpleeeease · 27/02/2025 18:33

I don’t believe they have much of a team. I think they probably have a couple of people on the phones blagging freebies and invitations, leaking stories and trying to drum up publicity. There will be some young thing monitoring social media sites and reporting back. I doubt whether these are industry experts. I can’t see what else they would need a team for.

Replying to emails. (A least two of us have written via the As Ever site with questions about data protection and the ARO mailing list.) There is some English guy who worked with them in London and went to Nigeria. I think he organises the foreign quasi-royal tours.

@IdaGlossop Did you get any reply about the data protection and mailing list . I think that is really very bad if not.

MaturingCheeseball · 27/02/2025 18:56

Re cake mixes etc, I follow some midwestern people (middle class) and they NEVER cook from first principles. It is always mixes etc. The Thanksgiving Dinners! All canned or bought in trays from supermarket. So for wide-ranging appeal the packet products must be budget friendly. I don’t think Montecito people would use mixes: they’d have a maid or order in.

BasiliskStare · 27/02/2025 18:58

@Atlasvue Actually that was better than I expected - I quite liked the chap. I reckon With Love Meghan might be quite the success if they just took Meghan out of it 😂

AtIusvue · 27/02/2025 18:59

She seems somewhat suprised someone doesn’t listen to smooth, beige, spa lounge Muzak that’s prob pumped into the speakers at her home …with matching aroma scent

I thought she seemed like an actress playing a role badly, which I guess is exactly what she was doing. The 'banter' seemed very staged to me. Her timing was just a smidgeon 'off' and her intonation exaggerated. But maybe not everyone will see it that way.

@BasiliskStare No reply. I'm a bit ashamed to have written because I was making mischief. Interesting though. Things that are wrong so far with AE: you subscribe to the mailing list from the website but receive no welcome email; there is nothing on the site about unsubscribing from the list; I used the privacy email address on the site to ask about data protection and received no reply; the site is merely a home page with an altered image, a namestyle and a logo, the latter two not being integrated; neither IG nor the site give a launch date or say anything about the product range.

The ARO mailing list was the same - no welcome email, nothing about data use or unsubscribing. Making more mischief, and not having heard from ARO after two months, I wrote to Archewell with some 'helpful' suggestions and absurd questions (one was about a runcible spoon, to give you a flavour) but no reply. I forwarded the email a few weeks later to prompt a reply and got a bounce back saying the inbox was full. All of this adds up to nothing planned, nothing managed, massive mess (and me being accused of cyber-stalking).

Mylovelygreendress · 27/02/2025 19:10

Meghan takes herself very seriously so light hearted “ banter” will not come easy to her .
I cannot I gone this is what she envisaged 4 years ago !

Onlyonekenobe · 27/02/2025 19:12

That is ALL about Meghan Markle. The camera is on her reactions, not on the person speaking. A visual Archetypes, guests there to be her foil and give her something to express herself against. The ones desperate for exposure will allow her free reign or even elevate her (see what I did there?). The others won't be able to hide their expressions. For a woman who only started wearing and living in the trappings of uber-wealth 4 years ago, this is quite the ego boost. My, oh my.

And no staff!

Vespanest · 27/02/2025 19:15

From the trailer I'm struggling with the concept and the link to as ever. Is she just sourcing what she believes is good quality, so no ingredient input for as ever. With ARO I was under the impression that it was about her tastes and her inspiration, mass producing her recipes. So you may not get jam by the hand of royalty but the jam followed her recipes. This show seems more about interviewing and hosting. The trailer had hardly any highlighting of food

She needs to ‘collab’ with Amanda & her mother - Jo Lumley in character.

On a tangent on collab ‘Meg meets Micky’ as in Flannagan could be gold. I’d be mote interested in her elevated fruit then…

IdaGlossop · 27/02/2025 19:24

And no staff. If thousands of people subscribed to ARO, Meghan could have quite a legal problem on her hands. I wonder if she is selling the list, causing even more legal problems. I live in the UK but am being sent emails from a Porsche dealership in the US. They are being sent to the Gmail account I gave ARO. The address used is the name of my freelance business and it's a name that someone who doesn't know me would be highly unlikely to make up. Yesterday, come to think of it, I had an email from the Fleet Reserve Association in the US about my child, Aiden, winning a creative writing competition. I do not have a child called Aiden or any links with US military organisations. All very odd.

I hate those ubiquitous aluminium trays - so ugly & unhealthy seeming. Seen even in best setting.

isaknowsbest · 27/02/2025 19:47

It's all a bit bizarre.

Uricon2 · 27/02/2025 19:54

"It's good for when you're butchering" 😂😂😂.

Not so much multi faceted folks as multi portioned.

Sorry, was getting a Dexter vibe, which I'm not sure is what she's going for.

MummyJ12 · 27/02/2025 19:54

The look on this guy! (Watching Meghan dance). Or it could be that he’s asking her how to unsubscribe from As Ever….
It’s like a caption this:
”No, seriously Meghan. How do I unsubscribe from this thing?”
