It's like dumpling mix. Literally flour/shortening/water/raising agent/seasoning (I do add shed loads of herbs) and the work of moments before you add the water and roll, which you have to do with the packet one anyway.

I know they're are some nicely presented eg biscuit mixes around in kilner jars and they are a pleasant little gift for kids. I don't see them as being a vast moneyspinner though.

HeddaGarbled · 27/02/2025 11:59

In the video she isn't cooking barefoot. She is just in the kitchen

Reach any further, you’re going to put your back out 😃

IdaGlossop · 27/02/2025 11:52

The foccaccia had Meghan's fingers poking it before it was cooked. That's enough to put me off.

Edited

TBF, you are supposed to dimple it by hand before cooking. My point was really how flat it looked when they turned it out.

Mylovelygreendress · 27/02/2025 12:02

@Spectre8 what did you think of Meghan hugging the crew member ?

MummyJ12 · 27/02/2025 12:04

@Mylovelygreendress I meant to respond to the photo you posted.
That hug was not wanted or reciprocated.
If Meghan was a man going round hugging women with full body contact without consent, can you imagine the uproar?!

Exactly !
I have a man coming round to help with the garden next week . Should I hug him ??

As my granny used to say ... looks like someone is straining to do some explaining! 🤣

Nothing wreaks elevating the ordinary than a pre package mixed pancake than a drizzle of honey from the highest height possible, dancing with delight at the outcome whilst ignoring the added cost to the environment.

😂

I know about the dimpling. It actually looks fun. The clip from 'With love, Meghan' isn't inspiring though and, as you say, there's not a lot of height to the finished product.

myrtleWilson · 27/02/2025 12:12

Thanks for the welshcakes recipe - I shall try them this weekend. In focaccia news, I can very much recommend Nicola Lamb's recipe - its over three days but was the best focaccia I've ever made - so jiggly in its dimpling moment!

Where is the info on her pancake mix?

I agree that in the USA cake mixes are more usual and not necessarily downmarket.

My in-laws to be (kids partner) are American. They gave me at Christmas an obviously quite expensive beautifully presented cookie mix. It was organic gluten free and in a jar with a pretty lid cute label etc. The ingredients were layered to look nice in the jar etc.

I'd imagine M would be going down this route Of upmarket gifty mixes?

IcedPurple · 27/02/2025 12:14

Has the cake mix thing been confirmed? Where would she sell them? Nobody is going to order such a basic product online when you can get them in every supermarket, however 'elevated' the marketing might be. Will they be sold in the NF shops alongside the green Squid Game tracksuits?

She'd also need to be shifting an awful lot of cake mixes to pay for those private jets.

At this point I'm doubting there are ever going to be any 'products' at all.

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 27/02/2025 12:15

I know it's off topic but Nigella's cupcake recipe is SO easy and quick! It's 125g each of SR flour, butter, sugar, all mixed with 2 eggs and a splash of milk and vanilla essence (but it wouldn't matter if you didn't have vanilla) then put in the oven in cupcake cases at 180 for 20 minutes.

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 27/02/2025 12:17

Is someone going to start thread 4? We're nearly at 1000 posts!

Mylovelygreendress · 27/02/2025 12:19

Thanks for the recipe @Walkingbacktohappiness . Will make these at the weekend with youngest DGD “ helping “.
PS love the user name - I am old enough to remember that song !

Did anyone see the original Instagram clip before it was deleted?

User14March · 27/02/2025 12:43

@IcedPurple have there been any in pipeline? Brooklyn B’s sauce product seems surprisingly complex to launch etc & that’s only one product (?)

Victoria has told him it will be a long process & not to expect instant marketing success & he may have more £ behind him. Oddly I warm to Brooklyn’s attempts more he does seem a genuine chap.

There was a huge trend for those beautifully packaged, layered organic cookie mix in the corporate gifting/corporate marketing world a few years ago, when the world was coming out of lockdown and doing industry conferences and exhibition stands again.

There was a period of a few months in 2023 where you couldn't move more than a few feet through a conference exhibition hall without bumping into some gorgeously layered organic and vegan jar cookie mix, beautiful colour, ribbons, looking like a piece of art.

There’s an account on X that has them running side by side and it looks like they’re exactly the same.

smilesy · 27/02/2025 12:50

But most people already have flour, eggs and milk. And you can do more with those than just make pancakes. So using a bit of those ingredients to make pancakes is way cheaper than using a mix. You implied that people bought the mixes to avoid buying the ingredients separately. I find it hard to
believe that people don’t already have the ingredients. I can believe that some people buy a mix because they don’t know how to make pancakes. But it’s not hard and lots of recipes are available online. If you already have the ingredients it seems wasteful to buy a mix

Eta quote went awol. This was in reply to @Spectre8 post about M&S mixes only costing £1

(I am bemused by her “ultimate banana bread” box - no fresh bananas needed, apparently. Ugh 😕)
