@CesarSoubreyon you’re right. Why was Tyler Perry so generous, how well did he know either of them?

No one does anything for nothing.

Tyler Perry seems to absolutely hate the Royal family for some reason. I wonder if he just saw it as an opportunity to, in his mind, make them look bad.

I have always felt that Meghan and Harry's home screamed overblown, out of date decor. The kitchen she filmed WLM in is far more aspirational in my eyes - clean lines, bright, timeless with a hint of country kitchen. I assume that's why it was filmed there.

I think it's a style that would have been in fashion about 15 years ago, so that would suit the 'vibe' of the series.

From what I've seen of the Sussexes' own home, it looks rather cold and generic.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 26/02/2025 12:35

Absolutely.

Meghan is used to transactional relationships, but it must be strange for Harry to be in an environment where it's all about what you can do for someone else's career. He's used to moving in very tight circles which have been intertwined for decades or even centuries. No wonder he has been finding it hard to make friends, at least if what the VF article said is true.

Who are the ones that are rehashing about a wedding which took place nearly 7 years ago. I think some posters still can't get over the fact the white prince has left for a new life with his wife who is not a cardboard cutout of the little women that are in the RF. it doesn't mean I agree with what the pair of them have done but it doesn't mean I will spend every waking moment looking for things to criticise them with as some posters on here are doing.

why are you shoehorning in that he's white?
Sick of this racist attitude that every criticism is due to someone's colour.
So condescending

As an aside why is PA so stupid? The late Queen & DofE, not so.

how do you know the queen and her husband were intelligent?
I only ever saw her reading ready prepared speeches etc.
Not saying she was thick; may have been but we don't know

Mightymoog · 26/02/2025 12:57

CesarSoubreyon · 26/02/2025 11:54

I get the feeling neither of them want to actually pay for anything out of their own pocket. If a design company offered their services for free, I'm sure she would bite their hand off.

Harry was used to getting everything paid for when in the Royal Family and Meghan's dad paid for everything in her youth, then she had freebies from The Tig. Handing over their own cash must seem particularly unappealing to them both.

I was always surprised by the fact Tyler Perry had to lend them a home when they came to the US. They clearly have their own money but they just don't want to spend it.

Do you remember when he was asked something about his inhefritance from his mother/
He said words to the effect of that's money to pass on down the generations, not for him to actually spend

It's been said that he hardly knew them at all, User14March, but saw something about their situation on some programme and felt he had to do something

I strongly suspect there was more than that to it though - after all we constantly hear about the plights of those in much worse circumstances and AFAIK Perry hasn't felt moved to offer any of them his house

I think her career & accomplishments prove late Queen anything but dim.

I think her career & accomplishments prove late Queen anything but dim.

what parts of her "career" and "accomplishments" do you think showed that she was intelligent?

StrawberryWasp · 26/02/2025 13:07

My impression of our late queen was that she wasn't an intellectual.
She was a more practical person who loved animals and the outdoors.

But she did her duty, to know what she needed to know, no doubt with huge support.

I'm sure if he had the temperament for duty H could have done the same with the same level of support and his lack of intellect wouldn't have been exposed.

But he thought he's personally something special rather than him being an average person fulfilling a special role and he's exposed himself as an idiot.

The Queen was exceptional in her commitment to duty.

I don't think she believed she was exceptional in other ways.
Maybe her talent with horses?
She obviously also had flaws.
Because she was a person, doing a role.

Mightymoog · 26/02/2025 13:04

There's quite a big gap between dim and intelligent into which most of us fall.

The queen appeared to be of at least average intellect in order to understand and fulfill her role.

She also had a lot of support.

Yes I'm also sick of this type of casual racism of referring to someone's skin colour to attack and denigrate them.

We should start reporting racist shit like this.

I understood that it was transactional as TP was tied up with OW commericially and the use of the house was in lieu of a fee for the OW interview. Not sure what TP got out of it other than image of the knight in shining armour responding to the damsel in distress and being seen as adjacent to the most high profile woman on the plant at that time whilst his career was in decline? Could all be BS though.

I'd like to see them interviewed (together or separately) by Emily Maitliss.

I dont think they would expose their bloated and fragile egos to any challenge - we've seen PH being PA and borderline hostile with a couple of interviewers when his jolly chappie mask slips. OW is still keeping her long term investment warm and I suspect that one of them (likely MM) post divorce will do an interview with her. However MM given enough rope in a soft interview setting will just expose herself anyway.

Although I dont see them divorcing unless and until MM has a better offer status/money - but at her stage of life its likley to be a Murdoch, Trump, Onasis type of arrangement as it has always been for many other beautiful older women. I cant see he going for a younger guy - but I may be wrong.

Tyler Perry became Lily's godfather. Not bad for one of those hypocrites who simultaneously hate the royal family, but who revel in being royal adjacent.

NotaRealHousewife · 26/02/2025 13:37

Normally godparents are chosen based on a long standing relationship, one in which you have gotten to know persons values and beliefs

I suppose being a famous billionaire supersedes all of that

Vespanest · 26/02/2025 13:38

I love the racist argument when the subject matter includes Prinve Harry nearly as much as the royalist / republican defense of a Prince and a Duchess with their "you can take are IPP but you'll never take are titles"

You are right. Harry's mask slipped and he went into full PA mode in the Tom Bradby interview when he was asked about MM's racism claim. It slipped when Michael Strahan asked him why he keeps the royal titles. It slipped when Anderson Cooper questioned his harsh words about William's baldness in Spare. It slipped when Will Reeve asked him about Charles' cancer and the Sussex children.

FromThePrismOfJammyTodger · 26/02/2025 13:44

Oh, and I forgot his interview at that NY book event recently. He was extremely PA.

Ohpleeeease · 26/02/2025 13:45

What we do know from several Prime Ministers is that in their weekly audiences they were often caught out by her deep knowledge of current affairs and international matters. They knew not to arrive ill informed as she had a handle on everything including matters of some complexity.

And that’s aside from her private interests as a breeder and follower of horse racing.

She wasn’t an intellectual or an academic but she was a woman of intelligence.

edited to say I seem to have dropped the quote but I think you know who “she” is!

I can't see her bagging an elderly billionaire, her personality is too well known. There are plenty of beautiful women in the world and a small number of single male billionaires she wouldn't stand a chance.

I went to look at Gwyneths house:

https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/step-inside-gwyneth-paltrows-tranquil-montecito-home

It's not to my taste. Too formal and styled. The dining room is awful!

She does talk in a grandiose style though obviously v American to our taste like M.

If I was super rich I'd go for a relaxed new englandy/ Hampton look. Lots of light, white painted wood and not too matchy styled. Homey but high quality.

More like the house in M's tv show!

M and Hs house looks dark and dated.

Agreed. Hannah from Ballerina Farm would be my American lifestyle crush, if I had to choose such a thing. So although I suppose it technically falls into the 'trad wife' thing, it couldn't be more different really from Meghan's hollow, pretentious, fake existence. I genuinely admire Hannah, although there will always be things to critique about anyone of course. I think her husband is much richer than Harry, but they've more imagination and better values and so have been able to build a much more meaningful and beaitoful life than H&M. I always feel H&M money and opportunities have been so wasted on them, their house and lifestyle is dull, bland, grandiose and unimaginative.
