He has also commented on how he didn't think his genes would be able to "stand up" to Meghan's, but they did, because the Spencer gene is "very strong".

Yes, and the "blue, blue eyes".
So they're happy to share images and details of their children's appearance.
I remember when Archie was a baby and they took him to see Archbishop Desmond Tutu, which we saw film of, everyone said how cute Archie was. Ditto Lilibet and her 1st birthday picture.

Way too many coincidental outfits there IMO. It’s a bit creepy.

Especially the hands on hips, white blouse and sunglasses one......

Diana didn't even look like the Spencers. She was all her mum. And of course, William got her looks. That must rankle with Harry.

Serenster · 24/02/2025 19:19

Here is the Variety article - it came out in October 2022, shorty after QEII died and while Archetypes was about half way through.

https://variety.com/2022/digital/features/meghan-markle-grieving-queen-elizabeth-working-harry-1235407176/

Some of the quotes:

”[Meghan] burst out laughing at the drop of a hat, almost like a princess in a Hollywood movie”

”The [Cut] story was intended to support “Archetypes” and focus on our projects. I’ve had some time to reflect on it. Part of me is just really trusting, really open — that’s how I move in the world. I have to remember that I don’t ever want to become so jaded that that piece of me goes away. So despite any of those things? Onward. I can survive it”.

” When you become a parent, you genuinely want your kids to find the things that bring them complete joy. They’re our kids, obviously, and they’re part of a legacy and a tradition and a family that will have other expectations. But I want them to be able to carve out their own path… We’re creating multidimensional, interesting, kind, creative people. That’s who our kids are.”

Advice Meghan would give to an actor playing her: “I hope that in preparing for that role, she finds the softness and the playfulness and the laughter. The silliness. I just hope she finds the dimensions”

Those pictures add a whole new meaning to ‘similar outfits’.

Serenster · 24/02/2025 19:33

I can’t get too excited about the “copying Diana” photos. You can make exactly the same argument about Kate, as demonstrated below.

Their late mother in law was one of the most photographed women in the entire world for more than 15 years. She wore a lot of clothes in that time, multiple new outfits every week. She wore many many different styles and colours, and both followed trends and wore classic designs. It would be very hard to pick something that couldn’t be compared to one of her outfits in either shape, colour or pattern. Partiuclarly when fashion is cyclical, annd 80s fashion shapes and patterns are back in style.

And maybe sometimes each of them have intended to dress as an calback? They both would have grown up seeing images of her. It would hardly be unusual if they had regarded her as a style icon.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, smilesy, but I thought this claim that he'd offered to pay only came up during the RAVEC hearing, and that the Home Office said there was no prior record of him offering this?

Sorry. Only just catching up. Yes you are correct. It only came up during the hearing

Ohpleeeease · 24/02/2025 20:09

“We’re creating multidimensional, interesting, kind, creative people. That’s who our kids are.”

I don’t believe H or MM are capable of creating such people. Like everything, it’s wishful thinking and self delusion.

Unless the Spencer line cloned itself, all of the Spencers are half Spencer and half other genes.

If they married Spencer cousins somewhere, the proportions would be skewed, of course.

StrawberryWasp · 24/02/2025 18:57

It's pretty good I agree being on a popular show. But it's not regarded as serious acting is it?
Did she ever do any serious roles? I genuinely don't know?

I don't think she did; like a great many others in the business, you take what you get, I suppose. And having been brought up around TV, it may have appealed to her more than Shakespeare, etc.

MaggieMistletoe · 24/02/2025 20:39

FromThePrismOfJammyTodger · 24/02/2025 11:26

I can't remember who was talking about it now, but Tom Quinn, who has written the book Yes Ma'am, interviewed a former KP staffer for the book, who told him MM wants to complete the work Diana started or some such. She also registered IP for the name "Princess Meghan Markle" in 2014! I think the whole Diana worship thing is both a longstanding one on MM's part (pre Harry) and is just getting weirder and creepier as time goes on.

It's actually quite scary when you put it all together. Like a longterm stalker eventually marrying their prey.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 24/02/2025 20:39

It's worth a reread of this a few years on
https://www.thecut.com/article/meghan-markle-profile-interview.html

This was August 2022- it could have been Feb 2025, the only thing that has changed is the kids ages.

BasiliskStare · 24/02/2025 20:59

I can't read that The Cut article because I have exceeded my monthly viewing - I haven't read one ! - no matter . I think I may have read it at the time.

I do admire Meghan for sticking at getting an acting job - I expect it is brutal & if TV is what you are offered you take it. I am not sure Theatre would have suited her temperament and she certainly doesn't seem to have expressed any interest in it. But I did read once that although Rachel Zane was popular , Meghan was never considered the best actress in suits* - so maybe not surprising Hollywood eluded her .

*which reminds me of that quip - Ringo Starr wasn't the best drummer in the world - he wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 24/02/2025 21:03

I mean, none of the acting was really great in suits, and, she would not be remembered for the role had she not married Harry .

I’d read any book of hers on ‘Manifestation’ & she def did ‘The Rules’ on Harry, cutting first date short etc. Hook, line, sinker.

I think she’s got every man she’s gone after. ‘What Meghan wants Meghan gets’. A dating show might be a good niche. I imagine she took no prisoners & there were no second chances. Many 30 somethings struggle! & are far too accommodating ;) Will chef Corey cameo in the cooking segment?

StartupRepair · 24/02/2025 21:21

Back in the Tig days M included photos of herself winsomely in bed. Privacy threshold was different then.

You can't possibly know this.

And are you being serious in suggesting that a 'dating show' from a 43 year old woman married to an intellectually and emotionally stunted prince would be a goer? As in, be like me and you too could bag a man like Harry?

User14March · 24/02/2025 21:52

@IcedPurple I think she’s extremely single minded & it’s world’s away from what she’s doing now but I can see a dating aspect working in some capacity. Not on current brand - whatever that is. Yes, I do think she’s largely ‘ got ‘ what she’s gone after & hasn’t lacked confidence with men.

User14March · 24/02/2025 21:59

To add after the berries have been picked, finishing touches put to jam, shrubs watered, M checks in with a bright young thing whose love life isn’t going as planned.

Yes, he said it on the Stephen Colbert show during his Spare press junket. He said at the beginning of his relationship he "actually, genuinely" thought there was no way that his ginger genes would "stand up" to Meghan's genes - by which I assume he means her black/African/Ragland genes, because her Markle genes are German/ginger like Harry's - but he was wrong. "Go gingers!" is what he said. As well as saying he sees a lot of Diana in his children.

In the Netflix docusoap, the two of them described Archie as taking after Meghan in almost dismissive and disappointed terms. Which again, I would assume, means having her darker colouring. They then both positively rejoiced in Lily having Diana's looks and blue, blue, blue eyes. So, no rejoicing from them about their children having anything of their maternal grandmother in them, the only present grandparent in their lives, and an African American.

Talk about unconscious bias....

JSMill · 24/02/2025 22:30

Talk about unconscious bias. Indeed.
Dh is from the Middle East. I fell for his chocolate brown eyes. I was most disappointed when dc1 was born with the 'blue blue' eyes my whole bloody family had!

itsjustthewayitwas · 24/02/2025 15:41

I can’t see the video. I looked it up on instagram and all I got was the logo which looked at first sight like ‘A Sever offer ‘!! Just a pic of her squeezing lemons or something. Could someone post a link?

It's her own personal page with the "@Meghan" handle.
It's on her stories so you just click on her profile pic to see it.

BasiliskStare · 24/02/2025 22:39

I think if M wants to cosplay Diana II properly , now she's done the famous sweatshirt she really needs to get someone to run her up a modern version of the Catherine Walker Elvis dress.

https://www.thecourtjeweller.com/2022/08/dianas-elvis-dress-tiara-and-pearls.html.

or the Serpentine Gallery Revenge Dress

https://www.townandcountrymag.com/style/fashion-trends/a41913960/princess-diana-revenge-dress-history/

I bet even H would have a double take at those 😂

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 24/02/2025 22:45

Ironically, both Archie and Lili both resemble Thomas Markle and the Markle side of the family!
