I noticed the old thread is almost full so thought we could start a new one to carry on the discussion about the rebrand and merching.

Are you an ‘As Ever’ or ‘Whatever’?

@Wildflowers99 I think Charles may fund Harry in future. How much does he stand to inherit about 60 million or so from Mum and Granny already. Couldn't M bring in millions simply as an influencer?

Uricon2 · 19/02/2025 20:14

AutumnCrow2 · 19/02/2025 20:05

That's a very good question, actually.

Do H&M need the money or not?

I think they very much do. I don't know the ins and outs of their finances obviously but I think they have 10s of million $, perhaps 50 million at an absolute push, from his inheritances/anything Charles contributed/her personal money/ Spare.

Without an income stream of some significance, I can't see the interest on this kind of sum sustaining mansions and a 24/7 security team, plus much else, longterm. A million $ a year from BetterUp won't cut it and Netflix as we know looks rather disastrous currently.

I feel a vague annoyance at even thinking about why people who have what to most of us would be immense wealth "struggling" financially, it all seems so terribly entitled.

User14March · 19/02/2025 20:16

@Uricon2 wouldn't Charles simply and quietly top up, maybe he is already?

I'm honestly not sure he would at this point, without really knowing obviously. It would be to the tune of many millions a year I think.

Also think if he was bankrolling them fully, there wouldn't be the commercial endeavours with the clear hassle they entail, they'd be going on tours and making "humanitarian" pronouncements full time.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 19/02/2025 20:28

Falling out with your sibling is particularly irksome if said Sibling sets to inherit everything.

I agree with @Uricon2 and it is annoying to think about them struggling financially, but there has to been income to support the level of outgoings that they require.

However they wouldn't need the money if they just lived their life as a normal wealthy couple.

For those who like to follow the paperwork, they are still filing amendments on this ... Hope this works. I'm useless with archives 😬

Is that where Meghan was Patron of? She would have been in her element in that gathering!

User14March · 19/02/2025 20:31

@Uricon2 unless humanitarian projects offered fulfilment and purpose (?) As they saw it.

Another prob with bankrolling by Dad etc is then they'd have a view potentially and that would be irksome all around I imagine.

Who would have been in their element? Was M really that interested in cultural things? Deal or No Deal is quite a long way from the National Theatre.

IF ( and it’s a big if) Charles is helping financially I would imagine it comes with strict conditions such as no faux Royal tours . Having said that , I don’t think he will be transferring millions .
And they have no chance when William is King .

User14March · 19/02/2025 21:08

@Mylovelygreendress I think Charles adores Harry and isn't a tough character and that might work in H's favour re: any strict conditions and William wouldn't want to cast Harry adrift in the future.

So it's betty Crocker as well, cake and biscuit mixes. It seems miles away from the ARO concept of high quality and luxury.

Serenster · 19/02/2025 21:27

Boxes of mixes instead of baking from scratch is such a thing in the US that I dont think it automatically means it is not high end, strange though that seems. Williams Sonoma also sells cake and cookie mixes! It would also put Meghan directly in competition with Chrissie Teigen, whose business also sells boxed mixes.

Why should Charles fund his adult son who left the family business to cash in on his royal connections?

And you can't 'bring in millions simply as an influencer' just like that. There's more to it than setting up an Instagram account. You have to find a niche and promote products that people want to buy. The heyday of influencing is probably over in any case, and Meghan is frankly too old and her 'brand' is too confused to be highly lucrative at this stage. She still has just under two million followers on Instagram, which is embarrassingly low for someone with her name recognition.

User14March · 19/02/2025 21:37

@IcedPurple he shouldn't and there's no need but I think he might for many reasons IMO.

Yes, what you say makes sense re: Influencers and interesting on the number of followers.

I could see Charles maybe setting up some sort of trust fund for the children's education, even though their parents keep them away from him.

And if Harry was ever to be in dire straits financially, he'd probably step in too.

But I don't see him subisdising their private jets and a sprawling mansion way too big for their needs. Why should he?

How much money have Netflix given/advanced her do we think?

£0 is my guess.
I think they're running down time until the original contract expires.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/02/2025 21:46

I think Smartworks was a good fit for her as it combined her natural aptitude for fashion with a cause she (says she) believes in. It’s a shame that one was ditched

Apparently Smartworks is still going, @Wildflowers99; their website says Meghan's been their Patron since 2019
However it also mentions her "commitment to helping those in need across the UK" and I can't imagine that's terribly effective from California even if she still cared, so maybe others are now doing the actual work

It's not just up to Charles. I imagine the FCO has a view on these faux royal tours, and they probably know far more than the public do about what sort of dodgy characters H & M are consorting with.

As for William, who knows what the situation will be by that time, but Harry has made millions by literally selling out his family. Why would W. feel under any obligation towards him?

User14March · 19/02/2025 21:57

@MissRoseDurward and @IcedPurple I think Charles feels much guilt and responsibility re: Harry and isn't a tough character.

As @MissRoseDurward says though not just Charles who is in control here.

Hopefully W and H reconcile in the future.

CathyorClaire · 19/02/2025 22:01

Agree.

We've never seen a royal on their uppers yet and it's not going to start with Harold.
