I noticed the old thread is almost full so thought we could start a new one to carry on the discussion about the rebrand and merching.

Are you an ‘As Ever’ or ‘Whatever’?

I think this is a brilliant idea but would involve a certain amount of humble pie & downsizing, perhaps a move to a more affordable if more inclement Texas…

It also wouldn’t be about them/her & that might be insurmountable for them/her.

Ironically this would earn her/them the most respect, adoration & ‘love’.

I am afraid M is a textbook narcissist, I had really hoped she wasn’t but the only other explanation I can currently deduce is she is she’s a bit dim & that’s not a fit. I honestly wish them well but fear things won’t end well if this indeed points to a personality disorder. If she genuinely loves Harry & he’s not just a pawn that’s very positive for their family future at least. I was less confident about that after reading about the channelling of deceased Diana in spirit in Spare. If the love isn’t true we might see a white knight in the form of Aristotle Onassis.

If she genuinely loves Harry & he’s not just a pawn that’s very positive for their family future at least.

I agree with your post. NPD people see everyone as an object / stepping stone to use to elevate their status.

They target each person then charm them but ultimately devalue and discard.

We have seen MM do this to her husband, ex partner, father, best friends (multiple), business associates, colleagues.

Its her MO - if the PH association doesnt bring the wealth and status she desires or it continues to decline he will be gone.

She will then likely change direction again (ie; producer to access her acting career, chef to develop her post acting career, a prince for Hollywood A list / philantropy) and seek out a mega wealthy politition - so feed her inate grandiosity and delusions.

I don't think the lavish lifestyle is purely Meghan. I think it's what Harry believes it's his due. He wants to live like he believes William does, although I'm pretty sure that the Wales probably have a less lavish lifestyle because it's not really acceptable in royals.

Agree and I think it's easier to maintain a good "look" when you have ready made royal residences with wonderful grounds and access (it gets passed around and loaned out I believe) to amazing antique furniture and world class art. Which of course they had and walked away from.

Wonder where all the posters are who used to insist H and M are living their best lives ?
I actually think Harry would love to be back here maybe not full time but certainly more than fleeting visits to attend court cases or funerals.

They could have had it all if they hadn’t been so brattish. They could come and go between California and the UK and be feted in both if only either of them had a drop of emotional intelligence.

Would keeping their friends close and their ‘enemies’ closer have been that hard? I guess it never crossed their tiny minds.

Omg yes! Cooking her way through all the royal castles and palaces and stately homes.
They could chat about all kinds of stuff while cooking - history, kitchen gardens, upstairs/downstairs, royal stuff, architecture...

Exactly, meet the pets etc.

I think even Americans would be interested as it is English Castle, it is completely different. What they are marketing now is just Rich Living.

Theoretically anyone can become rich, but access to the RF and houses etc can't be bought.

@ERthree will PC death solve any money worries?

Nope ! Sadly for Harry , Charles money will be inherited by the next monarch ( William)

What Emma MoB is doing. Working with the heritage she's now part of, not against it.

I've also just seen that Gwyneth has followed the As Ever NYC clothing store on Instagram. That's a real burn. The Montecito set has spoken.

OMG that IS a burn!

Plus, she was already a good cook before she married, so she's using good, well honed skills and promoting Longleat rather than herself.

How many people do they actually employ full time though?

A few domestic staff maybe, but they won't be expensive.

I'm not sure they have a load of professional staff on the pay roll, except maybe on a consultancy basis.

I would be interested to know this.

Depends how hands on they are with the children, if not very then possibly four full time nannies (to cover 24/7)
A Norland nanny starting salary is £44,000 and goes up to £130,000 plus accommodation/food.

Royal protection officers are on £100,000 but that is as part of the met police - so for a independent body guard I would imagine significantly more.
Plus it body guards are with them all separately then it takes a large team.

Also Harry is used to having staff for everything.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 20/02/2025 15:37

Others noted the cost of protecting first lady Melania Trump and the Trumps' young son, Barron, at Trump Tower. Shortly after the election, a CNN Money report indicated that protecting Trump's family in New York cost US$1m ($1.4m) a day. If they instead joined him at the White House, of course, that cost would essentially be eliminated.

I don't know the accuracy but this is some idea of protection costs. I am shocked

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 20/02/2025 15:39

Adding I know their security would be nothing like that but gives you an idea of how quickly lots of money can be hemorrhaged.

jeffgoldblum · 20/02/2025 15:40

Very easy to spend others money ( taxpayers) @RecoIIectionsMayVary !
Totally different when it comes from your own pocket, probably why Harry is throwing such a tantrum about his!

https://nypost.com/2025/02/19/opinion/meghan-markles-latest-maneuver-is-an-insult-to-martha-stewart/

The NYpost has given a great idea for a business name ….see if you can spot it 😂

‘Meanwhile, Markle the narcissist keeps insisting she’s gonna be the next big thing. Not showing us. She thinks she’s so interesting, we’ll all be lining up to buy what she’s selling.
If she ever gets around to having anything to sell (beyond royal family secrets, of course — she and her husband are very good at that!)

Before the duchess nabbed that royal title — the one she made sure to hang on to even though she ditched the family that came with it — Markle was a TV actress with a blog on which she raved about basic-bitch staples and nominated Serena Williams for the ice-bucket challenge.

That makes her an expert on what, exactly?
But Markle isn’t just in need of rebrand for her jam and dog biscuits.
She needs a personal one, too.’

Oh blimey! That burns 🥵

User14March · 20/02/2025 15:42

@jeffgoldblum surely PC could provide separately for Harry?

Even Harry and William didn’t have four Nannys. I can’t imagine for a minute M would want a Norland nanny anyway. Far too British establishment. William and Kate only had one nanny. Archie is five now isn’t he? He’ll be at school full time. Lilibet is probably at nursery too.

I’d be surprised if they spend much on security of the sort the Met provided. It’ll be a bloke in a uniform patrolling the perimeter with the more showy version bought in for public appearances as and when needed.

Of course it's normally assumed that the new monarch will look after family when this happens, such as Charles having to fund Andrew and others but ... obviously this is a bit tricky for Harry now isn't it!
Before all this his brother William would certainly have shared the wealth but he's gone and managed to piss him off hasn't he!

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 20/02/2025 15:56

I do get what you are all saying, but they don't strike me as a couple that would think through the costs, rather what they think they deserve.

Staff costs will demand a premium because of who they are.

Lifestooshort71 · 20/02/2025 15:57

I wonder why Harry isn't doing more/anything to bring in decent money to fund their lifestyle? I commented upthread that M looks close to the edge in the 'as ever' video - manic even - and is being crucified in the media for the change of direction but I haven't seen anything about why H isn't out getting a job - why is it all down to M to grow a money tree? Surely he could get a few CEOships under his belt if he wanted to? 🤔

Because Harry has never had to think about money his whole life, whatever he's wanted has magically appeared!
He's never had to work hard for anything apart from appearance.

That's very true! But don't they talk as a couple like the rest of us and come up with a game plan? Perhaps he feels bringing titles to the table is his contribution. I think it's shabby of him though.

Mylovelygreendress · 20/02/2025 16:04

H and M frequently leave the children so it seems unlikely they would have only 1 nanny . Unless Doria steps in .
C and W tend not to leave their DC for lengthy periods so I suppose 1 nanny plus the Middletons would suffice.

jeffgoldblum · 20/02/2025 16:06

No argument from me @Lifestooshort71 !
He really should be stepping up before Meghan spirals, but the problem is he doesn't know how to! He honestly thinks he deserves to be paid just because he's "prince Harry" .
