Meghan has renamed her luxury lifestyle brand 'As Ever'.

'As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do,' she said. '

I'm not sure I'd want to eat a croissant, however elevated, that had been breathed on by a panting dog. And I love dogs.

Thedom · 19/02/2025 09:05

Dog looks like he has his nose in the fruit bowl, he must be on his hind legs for his head to be on the table, I love dogs too, but the table and worktop are no go areas.

Having concerns about the skin colour of an unborn child is racism (please note that the word used was concern)
Not coming out to defend your grandson when likened to a chimp( mind you said grandson is of African descent) is racism.

Some media headlines when it comes to Meghan scream racism.
I could go on and on for the entire day.
The way that women was treated whilst in the UK is abhorrent, period.

If you want to continue to play dumb that is on you.
If you want to continue idealise a family because they are "ordained by God "that is on you.
If instead of focusing on the fact that whilst we are all struggling under the strain of this COL crisis this lovely , classy family that you are so bent on defending has access to tax cuts and advantages that me and you could only dream about that is on you.
If tearing apart almost on a daily basis a woman that had the gut and decency to say no to racist abuse, speak out and rebuild her life makes you feel better that is on you

I have a partner a different ethnicity and both families speculated what our child's colouring may be, the same way they wondered about hair and eye colour. In fact everyone I know who has had partners of different ethnic backgrounds did the same. It depends on context, which they didn't actually provide. So I wouldn't say we are in a position to label that as racism.

But both things can be true. MM may well have been subject to racial bias at the hands of the media. But she can also be calculated, manipulative and dishonest.

I thought it was quite plain from their wedding day MM planned to leave the RF and establish another career. She invited the Clooneys and OW to her wedding despite the fact they had never met. She invited one relative but people she had never met!

The only reason they had to do that was to make connections in that circle. If she was committing to life as a royal there was no motive to invite them. She always intended to go down the route she has.

I don't think Meghan posseses the qualities you extol. Empathy, unbiased, critical thinking??? No. She is now looking very desperate and silly and more fake than ever.

friendlycat · 19/02/2025 09:10

I agree it's a sloppy shot.
The thread hanging down from her sleeve
The dog with his face virtually in the fruit plate
The way she is pouring the honey
But big time no branding on the jam

First of all Harry said no one was racist. Harry. Not me. Not the media. Harry.

Second of all I’m black so I’m not bloody ignorant about racism. I’ve discussed it many times on MN.

Having concerns would be racist IF that is what happened.

Seeing as Harry backtracked I doubt that’s what happened.

LunaNorth · 19/02/2025 09:11

That’s one hell of a pinkie ring.

Still getting Amandaland vibes. I mean, if I was starting a lifestyle brand to flog stuff to the plebs during a cost of living crisis, I hope I wouldn’t be so tone deaf as to think that laying the table in my massive back garden and pouring honey on a croissant could be made relatable by having a dog present.

I used to have sympathy with this woman. Now I think she really needs someone to take her to one side and tell her to stop showing herself up. Her mum, maybe?

Me. With blackcurrant jam.

Food of the gods. I can’t eat croissants now, but if anyone ever invents a gluten free one that isn’t like chewing a shoe, that’s how I’ll be eating it.

Is that her engagement/wedding ring blinging away or another one? That’s a massive rock!

It appears to be on the wrong finger though 🤷‍♀️

Me I’m afraid. I’ve never had a plain croissant outside France that didn’t need it.

I agree I would butter on my croissant on the rare occasions I have one.

LaMarschallin · 19/02/2025 09:18

I like butter on a croissant (I know! It's too rich and not at all French) but I tend to pull bits off and butter them individually. I may or may not add jam/honey/whatever.
But I certainly wouldn't dollop honey over a whole one; that would just be annoyingly sticky.

Can't believe it, but I understand your thinking, Vive le France 😁

Thedom · 19/02/2025 09:16

Me too I’m afraid. Maybe because I used to live in France and the croissants here just aren’t the same. And partly because the cat loves melted butter from a croissant 😆 (hasten to add she doesn’t lick it directly from the croissant🤪😂)

eta. I agree with @LaMarschallin about the honey. How would you eat one that had honey pored over it? Does M actually know what you do with a croissant or is this some predilection of hers 🤔

friendlycat · 19/02/2025 09:21

I think that's also why the shot looks strange as you just wouldn't drizzle honey (from a height) all over a croissant. It would make it a sticky mess to eat.

M&S ones have got better - soft inside if heated through properly, but the best ones I've ever had are from here. They are expensive so we tend to order once a year and keep in the freezer for treats.

Thedom · 19/02/2025 09:22

Butter on a croissant is a totally new concept to me, croissants are a way of life where I live, they often don't even serve it with jam, 😄

Ohpleeeease · 19/02/2025 09:22

If anyone can recommend a purveyor of authentic French croissants in the UK I would travel many miles for one. They are universally disappointing otherwise. Dry and flaky, flavourless. A travesty.

Atlusvue · 19/02/2025 09:28

I don’t get the butter and jam thing either but my husband does it. It’s honestly a sight to behold. He will butter the entire length and then add jam. Like a slice of toast. Makes my eye twitch.

LunaNorth · 19/02/2025 09:28

Do we think Meghan eats a lot of croissants, butter and jam?

She doesn’t look like she does. Since I turned perimenopausal, a diet like that wouldn’t have seen me rocking the sleeveless look like she does.

I tell you what, I would be interested in knowing what she does to stay looking so young, slim and healthy. That’s her USP at this point. Nigella looks like she genuinely knows and enjoys her food and that’s why her brand works. Gwyneth looks like she spends thousands on bonkers wellness treatments and that’s why her brand works. If MM pitched her brand somewhere between the two and concentrated on that, and maybe some sort of fashion line, children’s clothes, skincare, that sort of thing, she might get somewhere.
