Meghan has renamed her luxury lifestyle brand 'As Ever'.

'As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do,' she said. '

It’s a copy of a Spanish towns crest

Yes, I've heard people saying that but to me it looks generic and boring. I doubt there will be any legal action.

I see people cheering in exactly the same way.
The bowing tends to be at formal events whicn tbh they do need to stop imo. No need for bowing and curtseys in this day and age but the average fan doesn't stand on the Mall bowing as they go past.

I think it's the equivalent of American deference to the flag and national anthem. Which I also find a bit excessive living here as a Brit.

I don't think I'd curtsey to any of them if I was just meeting them for an ordinary event - polite handshake seems more appropriate just as with anyone else. If I was getting an OBE or a Damehood from the King I might do a little bob to celebrate the official nature of the thing - probably would make me laugh a little though.

There's a funny clip of Kate meeting Simona Halep - the Romanian tennis player who beat Serena in 2019 - she's doing the emotional walk through of the All England Club after the match and she gets introduced to Kate who is ready to congratulate her and she does this little curtsey - Kate gives her a sweet "ah thank you but this is about you' type of smile. But in the background you see Pippa just crack up that anyone who's just won Wimbledon wants to curtsey to her sister. I'm fairly sure the Middleton siblings keep Kate grounded about all the deference stuff.

Edited to add - it wasn't a mean crack up towards the tennis player, it was a 'you really don't have to curtsey to my sister" laugh.

Because it is pointless to keep making breathless videos to re-brand to sell jam. Completely stupid, shallow and empty.

Pointless is more fitting than outrageous.
But maybe it won't be pointless, it generates press & some subscribe to the no such thing as bad publicity view. Who knows, we may all be eating the jam in a few months time & thinking it's the best jam ever 😆

Only if it’s a couple of quid a jar. I’ve heard the jam KC has is really nice (£6.50 i think , more than I would normally pay). I’d be quite tempted to try that someday, maybe for a present.

I think most of the people who do the whole camping out on the Mall thing do it because they want to be part of what they see as a historical event, and enjoy the camaraderie and sense of occasion.

Not my thing, but I wouldn't sneer at such people as obsequious 'forelock tuggers' as some here are doing.

@Pianoaholic Yes, I am interested what makes people criticise her so much because I don't understand. I thought I made that very clear posts ago! I appreciate that one poster @Onlyonekenobe actually gave me some insight as opposed to labelling my posts tedious or derailing.

I think the reason is simple. Everyone likes a good story. Meghan's behaviour creates a narrative that is captivating - eventful, dramatic, high levels of emotion.

Asswhipe · 18/02/2025 19:43

Onlyonekenobe · 18/02/2025 18:33

I think this is a fair question ie what motivates people to criticise her so much.

Ever since I was a little child (pre-internet!!) I've been baffled by the dye-in-the-wool royalists. The ones who turn up at wedding decked out in Union Jack suits, the ones who have all the memorabilia in their homes, the ones who queue up in the cold and rain to see them pass in a car etc. I understand the historians, but not the fandom. It's different from pop stars or movie stars in that at least they have some creative output to latch onto, something that might resonate. I can only think that something resonates with these fans, enough to push them into sycophancy.

The mirror image of that, you could argue, is this equally passionate critiquing of Meghan and Harry. Except, I critique (and have done since the very first hypocritical lecture over zoom during the pandemic, where she - a woman who came to riches and prominence only through marriage - tried to tell young girls that they're enough if they just try hard at school) Meghan Markle but have never, not even as a teen, stooped to any level of fandom. Never had a poster of a person on my walls, even! So I don't think it's mirror images of the same thing.

I think with Meghan it's that she thinks she's pulled the wool over people's eyes, including Harry's (and possibly her own) and yet there are many women who recognize her for what she is because we know women like her in our own lives. Plus a really base tabloid-esque wish to see 'justice' ie the wool being pulled from people's eyes. She's a chancer, that's obvious to anyone with eyes. There's nothing wrong with being a chancer, we all have to make a living somehow and women sometimes need to be extra-resourceful. But what sticks with MM and her ilk is not owning it. Lying, duping, pretending she's something she's not. I have never criticised MM for hustling; I actually semi-admire her for it. But my goodness the hypocrisy and duplicity and sanctimony. Nobody likes a bullshitter, and sadly for MM they ALWAYS get found out eventually.

100% agree.

The delusional self-aggrandising is toe-curling and entertaining but the reports of her persistent bullying of dozens of staff over many years across two continents is an appalling way to treat another human being and I hope all her victims find justice by pulling together a legal case against her for emotional abuse in the workplace.

wooliegloves · 18/02/2025 19:45

@BunnyLake I assume there are no price lists or actual products out yet? I've never clicked on the website. Is KC King Charles? what does he have? A relative always sends me a F&M hamper at Christmas so i've had a few preserves and marmalades from there. They are £5 plus and whilst nice I would not pay that myself.

IcedPurple · 18/02/2025 19:12

Not sure if there's any point in trying to keep the discussion on topic, given the rehashing of decades old arguments, but I had to laugh at this, from another board.

"As Ever sounds like a name Kotex would use to market incontinence underpants. Or, like, a perimenopausal vitamin supplement."

Tbf my first thought was "Always".

My second thought was "hope they don't ruin everything by adding a dreadful fragrance too".

wooliegloves · 18/02/2025 19:48

Not my thing, but I wouldn't sneer at such people as 'forelock tuggers' as some here are doing.

I replied to a post that was talking about such behaviour and calling some fans die hards and sycophants. I certainly wasn't sneering at anybody! 😆

I agree that so many of the Sussex fans are sycophants.

Unending adoration of two people with so few achievements, just because they are 'royal'.

Yes KC is Charles. I don't know much about it to be honest but someone a few month’s ago said the strawberry and champagne jam was really good. It sounds very tempting. I thinks its £6.95

The video REALLY reminds me of Amanda filming in her car in Amandaland. If you haven’t watched it, you must. So funny!

“as ever” is “senuous” to “AROs” “hygge tygge”

Pianoaholic · 18/02/2025 19:58

Don't think I have thought about or read so much about jam ever, before today and this thread!

Uricon2 · 18/02/2025 20:00

wooliegloves · 18/02/2025 19:04

@Uricon2 do you not think it damaged Camilla's reputation for a bit? not helped by tampon gate obvs.

I think Camilla's reputation was already damaged to anyone who cared about this sort of thing. She's pulled back rather better, to put it mildly, than James Hewitt.

It still didn't drag people in who were actually "civilians" and only loosely associated in this fray, like Harry's matron and the stablegirl (sorry, now a middle aged woman who had to face the Press without any help from him, once they worked out who she was)

It is. I’ve laughed out loud a few times and that’s one thing I have to give credit to H&M for, they offer endless comic value for us plebs.

Lindy2 · 18/02/2025 20:06

There's a lovely selection of jams at the Windsor Farm Shop. Charles etc are known to pop in there quite often.

I like the blue cheese mayonnaise from there. I'm more of a savoury person than a jam person.

I don't think they will be stocking this particular range.

Can I just say the Duchy Originals strawberry jam is, according to my DH, really good. I have to say it was on special offer because although I love him, his jam is his jam.

Sue me Meghan😂

This is what I have my eye on but the postage to the US doubles the price so I will have to wait until back in the UK or I can persuade a visitor to bring it over for me.
